Sin: The Forgotten Terrorism
Discerning the facts about the background of the Mohammedan mass killer named Omar Mateen is beyond the scope of this commentary as there are any number of possibilities concerning how a man who was an employee of a United States Department of Homeland Security contractor might have been manipulated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a means to set him up for some kind of terrorist attack. Two different articles, Confirmed: FBI Introduced Florida Shooter to ‘Informants and Violence Begets Violence describe some of these possibilities, which I believe are both plausible and credible. We should know enough by now not to trust anything that is told to us by officials of the government of the United States of America and their mouthpieces in the mainslime media.
No, the purpose of this particular commentary is to place the killings that took place in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday, June 12, 2016, the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost and the Commemoration of Saint John of San Facundo and of Saints Basilides, Cyrinius, Nabor and Nazarius, in a supernatural context. There are plenty of websites on which can be found various details of the tragedy that occurred at a den of iniquity, the Pulse nightclub, in Orlando. This website exists to discuss the events of the Church Militant in this time of apostasy and betrayal and the events in the world-at-large from the perspective of the true Faith, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order.
I. A Place That Has No Right to Exist
It is even for Catholics to forget basic truths in the midst of the wall-to-wall news coverage of terrorist attack in Orlando, Florida, on Sunday, June 12, 2016, is the fact that the Pulse nightclub, which caters to those steeped in unrepentant sins of perversity, would not exist in a country that recognized the Social Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Such a den of iniquity has no right to exist in a just society, and it used to be the case in some places in the secular, religiously indifferentist United States of America that police vice squads raided such places from time to time to shut them down. No more, though. No more.
Those who practice the sin of Sodom and its related dark arts are now considered to be a privileged “civil rights” group by the lords of the world and by the lords of the counterfeit church of conciliarism. Indeed, Jorge Mario Bergoglio and his band of lavender friendly revolutionaries have enabled and empowered the so-called “GBLT community” in its demands for recognition and in its efforts to intimidate those who even cite verses from Holy Writ to demonstrate that perverse acts of nature stand condemned before God, Who ordained that the use of the marital privilege is the sole prerogative of a man and a woman in a valid marriage.
One of those passages from Holy Writ that arouses the indignation of what Mrs. Randy Engel has termed the “homosexual collective” comes from first chapter of Saint Paul’s Epistle to the Romans:
For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error. And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers, Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy. Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them. (Romans 1: 18-32.)
Saint Paul amplified this in his First Epistle to the Corinthians:
[9] Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, [10] Nor the effeminate, nor liers with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners, shall possess the kingdom of God. (1 Cor. 6: 9)
Saint Jude spoke of the fate of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha in withering terms:
[6] And the angels who kept not their principality, but forsook their own habitation, he hath reserved under darkness in everlasting chains, unto the judgment of the great day. [7] As Sodom and Gomorrha, and the neighbouring cities, in like manner, having given themselves to fornication, and going after other flesh, were made an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire. [8] In like manner these men also defile the flesh, and despise dominion, and blaspheme majesty. [9] When Michael the archangel, disputing with the devil, contended about the body of Moses, he durst not bring against him the judgment of railing speech, but said: The Lord command thee. [10] But these men blaspheme whatever things they know not: and what things soever they naturally know, like dumb beasts, in these they are corrupted. (Jude 1 6-10.)
The Pulse nightclub is a portal to hell, and it is tragic that it served as the place where unrepentant sinners met their deaths at the hands of a Mohammedan who believed that it was his duty to kill.
Alas, both the president of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro, and the presumptive Republican Party nominee for the presidency, Donald John Trump, pledged their “solidarity” with the “GLBT community:
This is an especially heartbreaking day for all our friends -- our fellow Americans -- who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender. The shooter targeted a nightclub where people came together to be with friends, to dance and to sing, and to live. The place where they were attacked is more than a nightclub -- it is a place of solidarity and empowerment where people have come together to raise awareness, to speak their minds, and to advocate for their civil rights.
So this is a sobering reminder that attacks on any American -- regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation -- is an attack on all of us and on the fundamental values of equality and dignity that define us as a country. We express our deepest sympathies to the victims, the wounded, and their families. We mourn as one people for our nation’s loss, and pledge our support to any and all who need it. I would like to ask now that we all observe a moment of silence for the victims of this attack.
Thank you. Our nation stands together in solidarity with the members of Orlando’s LGBT community. They have been through something that nobody could ever experience. This is a very dark moment in America’s history. A radical Islamic terrorist targeted the nightclub, not only because he wanted to kill Americans, but in order to execute gay and lesbian citizens, because of their sexual orientation.
It’s a strike at the heart and soul of who we are as a nation. It’s an assault on the ability of free people to live their lives, love who they want, and express their identity. Look at these remarks. They are almost identical. The agenda of the homosexual collective has been pushed with such great unopposed force that it is considered “normal” and “natural” for people to identify themselves on the basis of a freely chosen persistence in perversely sinful behavior.
Although human beings have the ability to choose to sin, they have no moral or civil right to do so. Mortal Sin darkens the intellect and weakens the will of those who commit it, and it disorders a soul to be habitually unruly in its surrender to the basest of passions. That Obama/Soetero and Trump each chose to use an artificial phrase, “sexual orientation,” and to speak in terms of “free people to live their lives” and to “love who they want” so as to “express their own identity” should prove once and for all that there is no hope, humanly speaking, for the United States of America. To surrender to moral depravity as a “human right” and as a source of self-identification is to demonstrate the complete grip that the adversary, who prowls about the world seeking the ruin of souls, has on the entire political, legal, cultural and social framework of the United States of America.
The religious indifferentism that is at the heart of the American founding was bound to produce a situation wherein it would be impossible to combat the advance of moral evils. One pestilence after another has been let loose and celebrated in this land in the name of “freedom.”
Yet it is that our true popes have warned us quite prophetically about the dangers of modern “freedoms” which divorce morality from any objective norms, including the authority of Our Lord and His true Church:
This shameful font of indifferentism gives rise to that absurd and erroneous proposition which claims that liberty of conscience must be maintained for everyone. It spreads ruin in sacred and civil affairs, though some repeat over and over again with the greatest impudence that some advantage accrues to religion from it. “But the death of the soul is worse than freedom of error,” as Augustine was wont to say. When all restraints are removed by which men are kept on the narrow path of truth, their nature, which is already inclined to evil, propels them to ruin. Then truly “the bottomless pit” is open from which John saw smoke ascending which obscured the sun, and out of which locusts flew forth to devastate the earth. Thence comes transformation of minds, corruption of youths, contempt of sacred things and holy laws — in other words, a pestilence more deadly to the state than any other. Experience shows, even from earliest times, that cities renowned for wealth, dominion, and glory perished as a result of this single evil, namely immoderate freedom of opinion, license of free speech, and desire for novelty. (Pope Gregory XVI, Mirari Vos, August 15, 1832.)
From this it may clearly be seen what consequences are to be expected from that false pride which, rejecting our Saviour's Kingship, places man at the summit of all things and declares that human nature must rule supreme. And yet, this supreme rule can neither be attained nor even defined. The rule of Jesus Christ derives its form and its power from Divine Love: a holy and orderly charity is both its foundation and its crown. Its necessary consequences are the strict fulfilment of duty, respect of mutual rights, the estimation of the things of heaven above those of earth, the preference of the love of God to all things. But this supremacy of man, which openly rejects Christ, or at least ignores Him, is entirely founded upon selfishness, knowing neither charity nor selfdevotion. Man may indeed be king, through Jesus Christ: but only on condition that he first of all obey God, and diligently seek his rule of life in God's law. By the law of Christ we mean not only the natural precepts of morality and the Ancient Law, all of which Jesus Christ has perfected and crowned by His declaration, explanation and sanction; but also the rest of His doctrine and His own peculiar institutions. Of these the chief is His Church. Indeed whatsoever things Christ has instituted are most fully contained in His Church. Moreover, He willed to perpetuate the office assigned to Him by His Father by means of the ministry of the Church so gloriously founded by Himself. On the one hand He confided to her all the means of men's salvation, on the other He most solemnly commanded men to be subject to her and to obey her diligently, and to follow her even as Himself: "He that heareth you, heareth Me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth Me" (Luke x, 16). Wherefore the law of Christ must be sought in the Church. Christ is man's "Way"; the Church also is his "Way"-Christ of Himself and by His very nature, the Church by His commission and the communication of His power. Hence all who would find salvation apart from the Church, are led astray and strive in vain.
As with individuals, so with nations. These, too, must necessarily tend to ruin if they go astray from "The Way." The Son of God, the Creator and Redeemer of mankind, is King and Lord of the earth, and holds supreme dominion over men, both individually and collectively. "And He gave Him power, and glory, and a kingdom: and all peoples, tribes, and tongues shall serve Him" (Daniel vii., 14). "I am appointed King by Him . . . I will give Thee the Gentiles for Thy inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession" (Psalm ii., 6, 8). Therefore the law of Christ ought to prevail in human society and be the guide and teacher of public as well as of private life. Since this is so by divine decree, and no man may with impunity contravene it, it is an evil thing for the common weal wherever Christianity does not hold the place that belongs to it. When Jesus Christ is absent, human reason fails, being bereft of its chief protection and light, and the very end is lost sight of, for which, under God's providence, human society has been built up. This end is the obtaining by the members of society of natural good through the aid of civil unity, though always in harmony with the perfect and eternal good which is above nature. But when men's minds are clouded, both rulers and ruled go astray, for they have no safe line to follow nor end to aim at. (Pope Leo XIII, Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900.)
Pope Leo XIII elaborated on this just a few paragraphs later in the same encyclical letter:
A system of morality based exclusively on human reason robs man of his highest dignity and lowers him from the supernatural to the merely natural life. Not but that man is able by the right use of reason to know and to obey certain principles of the natural law. But though he should know them all and keep them inviolate through life-and even this is impossible without the aid of the grace of our Redeemer-still it is vain for anyone without faith to promise himself eternal salvation. "If anyone abide not in Me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up and cast him into the fire, and he burneth" john xv., 6). "He that believeth not shall be condemned" (Mark xvi., 16). We have but too much evidence of the value and result of a morality divorced from divine faith. How is it that, in spite of all the zeal for the welfare of the masses, nations are in such straits and even distress, and that the evil is daily on the increase? We are told that society is quite able to help itself; that it can flourish without the assistance of Christianity, and attain its end by its own unaided efforts. Public administrators prefer a purely secular system of government. All traces of the religion of our forefathers are daily disappearing from political life and administration. What blindness! Once the idea of the authority of God as the Judge of right and wrong is forgotten, law must necessarily lose its primary authority and justice must perish: and these are the two most powerful and most necessary bonds of society. Similarly, once the hope and expectation of eternal happiness is taken away, temporal goods will be greedily sought after. Every man will strive to secure the largest share for himself. Hence arise envy, jealousy, hatred. The consequences are conspiracy, anarchy, nihilism. There is neither peace abroad nor security at home. Public life is stained with crime.
So great is this struggle of the passions and so serious the dangers involved, that we must either anticipate ultimate ruin or seek for an efficient remedy. It is of course both right and necessary to punish malefactors, to educate the masses, and by legislation to prevent crime in every possible way: but all this is by no means sufficient. The salvation of the nations must be looked for higher. A power greater than human must be called in to teach men's hearts, awaken in them the sense of duty, and make them better. This is the power which once before saved the world from destruction when groaning under much more terrible evils. Once remove all impediments and allow the Christian spirit to revive and grow strong in a nation, and that nation will be healed. The strife between the classes and the masses will die away; mutual rights will be respected. If Christ be listened to, both rich and poor will do their duty. The former will realise that they must observe justice and charity, the latter self-restraint and moderation, if both are to be saved. Domestic life will be firmly established ( by the salutary fear of God as the Lawgiver. In the same way the precepts of the natural law, which dictates respect for lawful authority and obedience to the laws, will exercise their influence over the people. Seditions and conspiracies will cease. Wherever Christianity rules over all without let or hindrance there the order established by Divine Providence is preserved, and both security and prosperity are the happy result. The common welfare, then, urgently demands a return to Him from whom we should never have gone astray; to Him who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and this on the part not only of individuals but of society as a whole. We must restore Christ to this His own rightful possession. All elements of the national life must be made to drink in the Life which proceedeth from Him- legislation, political institutions, education, marriage and family life, capital and labour. Everyone must see that the very growth of civilisation which is so ardently desired depends greatly upon this, since it is fed and grows not so much by material wealth and prosperity, as by the spiritual qualities of morality and virtue. (Pope Leo XIII, Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900.)
Public life is indeed stained by crime today, and no amount of “spinning” can change reality into something that it is not. That which is sinful can never the foundation of a just social order. Sin brings violence in its wake. Violence is the inevitable consequence in a land where sin is celebrated as a "civil right," no less as a means of "love" when it is nothing other than act of hatred of God and of one's own eternal good.
Indeed, institutionalized violence was the inevitable consequence of the Protestant Revolution, which was born in violence, and the subsequent rise of Judeo-Masonry and its false philosophies of naturalism, each of which has contributed to the the institutionalization of sin and thus of violence in the world.
II. The Tragedy of Dying in a State of Final Impenitence
We are governed by a duopoly of false opposites who are united in their support for one moral evil after another even though they differ on the margins about various policies. One can never “make America great again” by referring to a nonexistent “right” to choose to live in a manner that is destructive of their own souls and of all social order. Acts of rebellion against God unleash forces of violence that wind up victimizing the very people who are “proud” to be practitioners of moral evils. As Saint Paul the Apostle reminded us in his Epistle to the Romans, the wages of sin are death:
So do you also reckon, that you are dead to sin, but alive unto God, in Christ Jesus our Lord.[12] Let no sin therefore reign in your mortal body, so as to obey the lusts thereof. [13] Neither yield ye your members as instruments of iniquity unto sin; but present yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of justice unto God. [14]For sin shall not have dominion over you; for you are not under the law, but under grace. [15]What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
[16] Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death, or of obedience unto justice. [17] But thanks be to God, that you were the servants of sin, but have obeyed from the heart, unto that form of doctrine, into which you have been delivered. [18] Being then freed from sin, we have been made servants of justice. [19] I speak an human thing, because of the infirmity of your flesh. For as you have yielded your members to serve uncleanness and iniquity, unto iniquity; so now yield your members to serve justice, unto sanctification. [20] For when you were the servants of sin, you were free men to justice.
[21] What fruit therefore had you then in those things, of which you are now ashamed? For the end of them is death. [22] But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end life everlasting. [23] For the wages of sin is death. But the grace of God, life everlasting, in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6: 11-23.)
Of course it is tragic that human beings were killed so suddenly in a wanton act of terror. It is also tragic that the friends and relatives of those who were killed are suffering so terribly now, especially so as they should be grieving over the fact that the massacred happened to have been spending their last moments on earth in a den of moral depravity.
What is more tragic, however, is that most of those slaughtered four days ago now by a Mohammedan man, who may or may not have been a stooge of the government to make the “gay community” more sympathetic and thus to “shame” anyone who seeks to criticize the so-called “GLBT lifestyle,” may have lost their souls for all eternity in hell.
As is the case with each Mortal Sin in the objective order of things, the sin of Sodom is an act of terror against the Most Blessed Trinity. It is a rebellion against both the Order of Creation (Nature) and the Order of Redemption (Grace). Perverse sins in violation of the Sixth and Ninth Commandments are also acts of terror against the souls and the bodies of those who commit them.
God has made us to know, to love, and to serve Him as He has revealed Himself to us through His Holy Catholic Church. The very purpose of our lives to serve Him faithfully in this life as members of the Catholic Church so that we can be ready at all times to meet Our Divine Judge in the face at the moment of our Particular Judgment. Those who do not understand this—or have consciously rejected this truth—will seek for “meaning” in their lives in a variety of different ways, including the indulgence of illicit “pleasures” that make them the slaves of their passions.
Leaving the subjective judgment of souls to God alone, it is nevertheless the case, therefore, that those killed by Omar Mateen four days ago were not ready in the objective order of things to face God at the moment of their deaths. It is, objectively speaking, very unlikely that many of those killed were saved as they had led lives of moral reprobation. This is the greatest tragedy of all as the loss of a single soul, made in the image of the Most Blessed Trinity and redeemed by the shedding of every single drop of the Most Precious Blood of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, for all eternity in hell is irreversible.
Those who die in a state of final impenitence will never behold the glory of the Beatific Vision of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost in Heaven, and they will suffer unspeakably horrible torments in hell, something that Saint Alphonsus de Liguori described in very graphic terms in his sermon for the Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany on the pains of hell. Here is an excerpt:
13. The reprobate shall be likewise tormented by the stench which pervades hell. The stench shall arise from the very bodies of the damned. “Out of their carcasses shall arise a stink.” (Isaiah 34:3). The bodies of the damned are called carcasses, not because they are dead (for they are living, and shall be forever alive to pain), but on account of the stench which they exhale. Would it not be very painful to be shut up in a close room with a fetid corpse? St. Bonaventure says, that if the body of one of the damned were placed in the earth, it would, by its stench, be sufficient to cause the death of all men. How intolerable, then, must it be to live forever in the dungeons of hell in the midst of the immense multitudes of the damned! Some foolish worldlings say, If I go to hell, I shall not be there alone. Miserable fools! do you not see that the greater the number of your companions, the more insufferable shall be your torments? “There,” says St. Thomas, “the society of the reprobate shall cause an increase and not a diminution of misery.” (Suppl., q. 86, art. 1). The society of the reprobate augments their misery, because each of the damned is a source of suffering to all the others. Hence, the greater their number, the more they shall mutually torment each other. “And the people,” says the prophet Isaias, “shall be ashes after a fire, as a bundle of thorns they shall be burnt with fire.” (Is. 33:12). Placed in the midst of the furnace of hell, the damned are like so many grains reduced to ashes by that abyss of fire, and like so many thorns tied together and wounding each other.
14. They are tormented not only by the stench of their companions, but also by their shrieks and lament. How painful it is to a person longing for sleep to hear the groans of a sick man, the barking of a dog, or the screams of an infant. The damned must listen incessantly to the wailing and howling of their associates, not for a night, nor for a thousand nights, but for all eternity, without the interruption of a single moment.
15. The damned are also tormented by the narrowness of the place in which they are confined; for, although the dungeon of hell is large, it will be too small for so many millions of the reprobate, who like sheep shall be heaped one over the other. “They are,” says David, “laid in hell like sheep.” (Ps. 38:15). We learn from the Scriptures that they shall be pressed together like grapes in the winepress, by the vengeance of an angry God. “The winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God the Almighty.” (Rev. 19:15). From this pressure shall arise the pain of immobility. “Let them become unmovable as a stone.” (Ex. 16:16). In whatever position the damned shall fall into hell after the general judgment, whether on the side, or on the back, or with the head downwards, in that they must remain for eternity, without being ever able to move foot or hand or finger, as long as God shall be God. In a word, St. Chrysostom says, that all the pains of this life, however great they may be, are scarcely a shadow of the torments of the damned. “Hæc omnia ludicra sunt et risus ad ilia supplicia, pone ignem, ferrum, et bestias, attamen vix umbra sunt ad ilia tormenta.” (Hom, xxxix. ad pop. Ant).
16. The reprobate, then, shall be tormented in all the senses of the body. They shall also be tormented in all the powers of the soul. Their memory shall be tormented by the remembrance of the years which they had received from God for the salvation of their souls, and which they spent in laboring for their own damnation; by the remembrance of so many graces and so many divine lights which they abused. Their understanding shall be tormented by the knowledge of the great happiness which they forfeited in losing their souls, Heaven, and God; and by a conviction that this loss is irreparable. Their will shall be tormented by seeing that whatsoever they ask or desire shall be refused. “The desire of the wicked shall perish.”(Ps. 111:10). They shall never have any of those things for which they wish, and must forever suffer all that is repugnant to their will. They would wish to escape from these torments and to find peace; but in these torments they must forever remain, and peace they shall never enjoy.
17. Perhaps they may sometimes receive a little comfort, or at least enjoy occasional repose? No, says Cyprian, “Nullum ibi refrigerium, nullum remedium, atque ita omni tormento atrocius desperatio.” (Serm. de Ascens). In this life, how great soever may be the tribulations which we suffer, there is always some relief or interruption. The damned must remain forever in a pit of fire, always in torture, always weeping, without ever enjoying a moment’s repose. But perhaps there is someone to pity their sufferings? At the very time that they are so much afflicted the devils continually reproach them with the sins for which they are tormented, saying, Suffer, burn, live forever in despair, you yourselves have been the cause of your destruction. And do not the saints, the divine mother, and God, who is called the Father of Mercies, take compassion on their miseries? No; "the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from Heaven.” (Matt. 26:29). The saints, represented by the stars, not only do not pity the damned, but they even rejoice in the vengeance inflicted on the injuries offered to their God. Neither can the divine mother pity them, because they hate her Son. And Jesus Christ, who died for the love of them, cannot pity them, because they have despised his love, and have voluntarily brought themselves to perdition. This should give each one of us pause for concern. We must beg Our Lord to send us the necessary graces through the loving hands of His Most Blessed Mother, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, to want to work hard to save our immortal souls from the pains inflicted upon the damned in hell. One thing is for sure, however, and that is choosing to spend time at a den of iniquity such as The Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, is now way to avoid the pains of hell. Indeed, such a plan is a den of the devil and thus a portal to hell.
III. The Difference Between Mohammedanism and Catholicism
Mohammedanism is a false religion that has been committed to the spread of its false tenets by means the sword since its inception in the Seventh Century. It is a religion of death to infidels and a religion of eternal death to its adherents.
Thus it is that all of the naturalistic jabbering about “radical Islam” is a distraction designed to deflect attention from the simple fact that Mohammedanism Has Never Been A Religion of Peace.
Even if Omar Mateen was, as some are claiming, a “nominal” practitioner of Mohammedanism and may have been a regular patron at the den of iniquity where he took the lives of forty-nine people and met his own end, it is nevertheless the case that it appears he was intent on killing for what he thought would advance the cause of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. He was doing what has come naturally to Mohammedans from the very beginning: killing in the name of their false deity and in the name of their false prophet, Mohammed.
Mohammedans are steeped in Original Sin, which predisposes them to acting violently as their souls are slaves to the devil. It does not matter whether a Mohammedan is observant. Many Zionists, for example, whose souls are also slaves to the devil by means of Original Sin, are not observant Jews, but they will do anything to advance the cause of Zionism. The same is true of many Mohammedans as well. False religions are wrought in violence and they must be sustained in violence. Infidels must be treated as sub-humans who can be exterminated at will. Mateen did, it is reported, cheer when the Twin Towers went down in the Borough of Manhattan of the City of New York, New York, on Tuesday, September 11, 2001. No, one does not have to be a religiously observant Mohammedan to do kill in the name of his false religion. Cultural Mohammedanism is a strong tie, especially when it can be exploited by the native forces of Judeo-Masonry to foment violence in behalf of various social evils and to continue the so-called “global war on terror.”
Catholics, on the other hand, do not to seek to do violence to those steeped in sin. Catholics pray for the conversion of sinners. This was, after all, what Our Lady instructed Jacinta and Francisco Marto and Lucia dos Santos to do after she had shown them hell on July 13, 1917. A believing Catholic does not want to see anyone go to hell or to see anyone’s life cut short by a killer before he has had a chance to repent of his sins. Catholics take seriously these words of Holy Writ:
Say to them: As I live, saith the Lord God, I desire not the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way, and live. Turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways: and why will you die, O house of Israel? [12] Thou therefore, O son of man, say to the children of thy people: The justice of the just shall not deliver him, in what day soever he shall sin: and the wickedness of the wicked shall not hurt him, in what day soever he shall turn from his wickedness: and the just shall not be able to live in his justice, in what day soever he shall sin. [13] Yea, if I shall say to the just that he shall surely live, and he, trusting in his justice, commit iniquity: all his justices shall be forgotten, and in his iniquity, which he hath committed, in the same shall he die. [14] And if I shall say to the wicked: Thou shalt surely die: and he do penance for his sin, and do judgment and justice, [15] And if that wicked man restore the pledge, and render what he had robbed, and walk in the commandments of life, and do no unjust thing: he shall surely live, and shall not die.
[16] None of his sins, which he hath committed, shall be imputed to him: he hath done judgment and justice, he shall surely live. [17] And the children of thy people have said: The way of the Lord is not equitable: whereas their own way is unjust. [18] For when the just shall depart from his justice, and commit iniquities, he shall die in them. [19] And when the wicked shall depart from his wickedness, and shall do judgments, and justice: he shall live in them. [20] And you say: The way of the Lord is not right, I will judge every one of you according to his ways, O house of Israel. (Ezechiel 33:11-20.)
Catholics pray for the good of all men, the ultimate expression of which is the salvation of their souls as members of the Catholic Church. No one loves another authentically if he does anything, whether by omission or commission, that reaffirms that person in anything contrary to the immutable laws of God. Love is an act of the will, not of empty sentimentality, and thus it is that those who died at The Pulse had no true love for their partners in sin and degradation as to persist in that which is harmful to the souls of others is to show oneself to be their worst enemy imaginable. There is no worse fate that can who chooses of one’s own free will to thumb one’s nose at the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law in the name of a “love” that is no love at all.
Catholics are expected to perform the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy, and one of the foremost Spiritual Works of Mercy is to admonish the sinner. It is very telling that Jorge Mario Bergoglio reaffirms sinners such as those killed in Orlando, Florida, while he castigates those who seek their conversion. We are living in the time of Antichrist, a time where wrong is right, evil is good, vice is virtuous, heresy is “mercy,” and sacrilege is “worship.” In the midst of this all, though, we must pray for those who are propagating evils to convert before they die, remembering also that the sufferings we may have to endure at their hands may be the means of our own salvation and of theirs if we offer up whatever merit we earn from the patient endurance of such sufferings as the consecrated slaves of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary.
IV. As The Innocent Are Slaughtered Every Day
Although partisans of the false opposite of the naturalist “left” have focused on “gun control” in the wake of the mass killings in Orlando, Florida, four days ago now, the truth is that nearly fifteen thousand human beings have been killed in in their mothers’ wombs in the United States of America alone since Omar Mateen started firing away at The Pulse in Orlando, Florida, four days ago now. Men in white coats kill babies surgically, and many among their number prescribe and/or dispose abortifacients of one form or another.
It is thus the height of hypocrisy for such scions of Modernity as Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro and Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, et al. to push for “gun control” while they indemnify baby-killers with wanton impunity.
Indeed, Hillary Clinton personally commended a baby-killer for Planned Barrenhood who strives to keep a preborn baby’s skull and brain intact for purposes of “donating” them in exchange for a “contribution” to this organization that has been evil from its very inceptions:

The abortionist also described how she performs a potentially illegal abortion procedure.
Clinton began her 27-minute speech by singling out abortion “providers like Dr. Amna Dermish in Texas, who called out Donald Trump when he said women should be punished for having abortions.”
Clinton said Dermish's online article defending the inviolable right to choose abortion-on-demand “should be required reading for every politician in America.”
In her op-ed, Dermish said that after she learned that “90 percent of counties in the U.S. have no abortion provider...I felt a responsibility to become an abortion provider.”
But Dermish is also known for other words she uttered on video to undercover investigators with the Center for Medical Progress (CMP).
Decapitation “something to strive for”
During a meeting at an abortion conference on October 12, 2014, Dermish laughed as she said removing an aborted baby's skull and brain intact will "give me something to strive for."
"I always try to keep the trunk intact," she told CMP lead investigator David Daleiden, who posed as Biomax purchaser “Robert Sarkis.”
Dermish, an abortionist with Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas in Austin, described how a PPGT point of care person will sort through aborted babies' organs after an abortion, because she's “really into organ development.”
"She'll pull out, like, kidneys and heart,” Dermish tells Daleiden. “The heart we frequently see at nine weeks. She always looks for it."
"Just like for fun?" Daleiden asked.
"Well, it's cute," another abortion worker, from Whole Women's Health in Texas, interjected.
"I have so much respect for [fetal] development," Dermish said in the video, adding that the growth of unborn children in the womb is "just so incredible."
Describing Partial Birth Abortion?
In the same video, she admitted she sometimes performs a technique that may be a partial birth abortion, "because it's easier to get" the organs that buyers have requested.
Dermish admitted that she converts the child undergoing the abortion to a breech (feet-first) presentation and then she will “remove the extremities first - the lower extremities - and then go for the spine,” before terminating the unborn child.
That may be a form of partial birth abortion, which is a federal felony punishable by two years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
Dermish said she “trained with” Dr. Deborah Nucatola, the senior director of medical services at Planned Parenthood, who was filmed sipping wine and munching salad in CMP's first video.
In that video, Nucatola acknowledged that she performs the same technique for Planned Parenthood in Los Angeles. She said that, while partial birth abortion is illegal, “laws are up to interpretation...so, if I say on day one that I don't intend to do this, what ultimately happens doesn't matter.”

No country can ever be made safe while the killing of the innocent preborn continues with legal impunity as it is heralded as a constitutionally protected “right.” Our modern caesars want to confiscate every single legally-owned firearm in the country. Doing so, however, would not end deaths by firearms as criminals, including those who enter the country illegally with the full benediction of our caesars and caesarettes, would still be able to kill in a country and in a world where the most violence is done to the innocent preborn with full weight and protection of the civil law. The decriminalization of chemical and surgical baby-killing has unleashed a cycle of violence as it is a relatively simple thing to dehumanize someone after birth once one has dehumanized babies in the sanctuaries of their mothers’ wombs.
As noted most recently in No Human Being Is A Vegetable, the dehumanization of the innocent preborn has made it more possible for those intent on killing after birth to use the medical industry’s manufactured, profit-making myth of “brain death” as the pretext to declare living human beings as “brain dead” in order to vivisect them alive for their bodily organs. This is being done in the name of “giving the gift of life” even though it is nothing other than cold-blooded murder of a type that would have made Montezuma and his fellow Aztecs quite proud.
Dr. Paul Byrne has been in the forefront of exposing the fraud that is “brain death” and of coming to the rescue of living human beings whose relatives have been forced to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to fight for their lives. Dr. Byrne provided an update on some of these cases just two days ago now:
Mirranda Lawson is a two-year-old girl who choked on popcorn about one month ago (May 11). Within a few days the doctors and hospital were presenting to the parents that Mirranda was "brain dead." However, they could not confirm "brain death" without doing the crucial and lethal apnea test.
Mirranda's parents wanted the ventilator to be continued, but the doctors and the hospital wanted to stop Mirranda's ventilator for 10 minutes. This is called an apnea test and it can only make Mirranda's condition get worse and possibly kill her.
We were in court on Thursday, June 9. After the judge heard the testimonies, the judge said he would rule on Friday, June 10. His ruling was that the doctors and the hospital could carry out the testing and evaluation at their discretion.
The judge heard testimony that the removal of the ventilator from Miranda could only harm her and possibly kill her. Yet he ruled that the doctors and the hospital could remove Miranda's life support.
Yes, we hear about killing of many innocent people in Orlando. It is absolutely awful that these actions occur. But is it anymore awful than the medical and legal system has a way to impose death on beautiful 2-year-old Mirranda Lawson?
Mirranda choked on popcorn. Miranda had a lack of oxygen resulting in her being in an unconscious comatose state but still alive. When a person, especially a young person, is unconscious and on a ventilator, the desire is to get their vital organs for transplantation into others who have a greater lobby.
Is Mirranda the only one that has fallen prey to the medical and legal system to get organs? No, every time a heart is transplanted it is a beating heart that is observed by the surgeon as he prepares to stop and immediately cut out the heart from that person. Every time there is a declaration of "brain death" followed by vital organ excision, the transplant surgeon opens the chest and sees the beating heart. Does he not know the difference between life and death?
Jahi McMath had a death certificate issued on her on December 12, 2013 when she was 13. She had to be transferred to New Jersey to save her life. Jahi has had her 14th and 15th birthday in New Jersey, yet she has a death certificate in California.
Is Jahi a living person? Yes, and she was not dead when she was declared "brain-dead" when a death certificate was issued on her. Jahi was and still is a living person.
Israel Stinson, a 2-year-old boy, had an asthma attack in early April 2016. Within a few days the declaration of "brain death" was placed on him. Israel needed food and water that was denied to him for a month. Israel needed a tracheostomy like every patient who is on a ventilator for about two weeks. No doctor or hospital in this country would treat Israel. It was necessary to transfer him out of our country to a developing nation where he has received needed nutrition, tracheostomy and gastrostomy. Israel is alive and needs to come back to the United States. But where's the funding to pay for the air ambulance to transfer him back to the United States and where is the doctor and the hospital that will treat him?
Yes, the killing in Orlando was absolutely terrible, but what happens in our medical and legal system that is designed to get organs from patients who are unconscious and on a ventilator especially when the patients are young? When the parents say no, you cannot do an apnea test that can be only harmful and possibly kill my child, they plead with the doctors to help and they even go to court for help. Yet there is no help because it is a medical and legal system designed to get organs for transplantation from unconscious comatose persons on a ventilator.
The judge would not help Mirranda Lawson and likewise the legal system did not help Israel Stinson. In order to treat and to find better ways to treat these patients, doctors, hospitals and judges are required that will protect and preserve the life of unconscious comatose patients on a ventilator. Anyone who thinks that massacres, whether committed by Mohammedans or others, in public places can be stopped by means of “gun control” is delusional. No country can be made safe when its laws permit the direct, intentional taking of innocent human lives and as it celebrates each of the other sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance, including the sin of Sodom. The United States of America is going the same way as the Roman Empire, and anyone who thinks that there is some kind of “political” solution to spread of this violence ought to look again at the similarity between Obama/Soetoro’s and Trump’s praise for the “LGBT community.”
V. Just Stay In A State of Grace
We must remember that we are the greatest terrorists alive. Our sins caused Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to suffer unspeakable horrors in His Sacred Humanity during His Passion and Death and they caused Our Blessed Mother's Immaculate Heart to be pierced through and through with those Seven Swords of Sorrow, four of which were plunged deep into that same Immaculate Heart during her Divine Son's Passion and Death. We must be punished because of our own sins, and it is important for us to remember that even though what happened in Orlando, Florida, four days ago was in a place of moral depravity, the reality is that any of us could meet with such a death as a result of the forces of evil that have been unleashed by the lords of Modernity in the world and Modernism in the counterfeit church of conciliarism. I should also add that those forces of evil have been further unleashed by our own sins as we are more responsible for the foul state of the world and of the Church Militant on earth than we realize or would like to admit.
Yes, the worst sort of terrorism is Mortal Sin, which kills the life of Sanctifying Grace in a human soul.
The worst kind of slavery is slavery to Original Sin, wherein one's soul is captive to the devil and thus blinded from seeing the world clearly and whose disorderly passions are even more inclined to act in accord with the spur of the moment rather than in accord with even natural reason.
Fallen human nature is such, however, that men vie with each in acts of terrorism by means of their unrepentant Mortal Sins, blinding themselves voluntarily as they seek after everything but the Catholic Faith as the means to guide their lives, being content to remain in slavery to devil, whether by means Original Sin or Mortal Sin, as they heap up riches in this life in the belief that this is the singular and all-defining purpose of human existence justifying whatever means are employed to obtained monetary wealth and/or worldly power.
The insanity and madness of Modernity that is supposed to produce "happiness" in this mortal vale of tears winds up producing anxiety and fear and misery and sadness.
People do not know how to cope in the midst of their small crosses, no less the greater tragedies that might strike them or one of their loved ones without notice. All of the accumulated wealth and technology and other supposed "advancements" in daily living have provided no substitute for the love of the true God has He has revealed Himself to men exclusively through the true Church, the Catholic Church. Although fallen human nature has worked its vagaries throughout human history, including during the era of Christendom in the Middle Ages, it is far easier for people to "snap" when they live in a country where "everything goes," where every kind of vile image is displayed, where every manner of "opinion" is considered to contain within itself the possibility of being true, where most people have become so accustomed to the daily carnage of the preborn that it is considered "disordered" to give the matter any thought at all.
This is the time of Antichrist, who has many figures walking abroad amid the lords of Modernity in the world and the lords of Modernism in the counterfeit church of conciliarism. We must simply endeavor to remain faithful to the very end.
These words from the book that inspired fourteen year-old Therese Martin to seek admission the Carmel of Lisieux are rather pertinent:
However, it would not be correct to conclude from this testimony that there will be none of the elect left on earth, and that the Son of God will not fail to keep the promise made to His Church, when He sid, Propter electos, dies breviabuntur ("because of the elect, the days will be shortened"). Moreover, St. John, in his [Apocalypse] adds, "And he [the beast] will be worshiped by those who dwell upon the earth whose names are not written in the book of life."
St. Augustine tells us that, in the reign of the Antichrist, thee will be multitudes of martyrs who will display a heroic constancy, and also a number, more or less large, of confessors who will manage to escape into caves and high or sheer mountains, and God will see to it that these sanctuaries shall elude the vigilance and investigations of the persecutors, and will not permit the Devil to point them out them.
Daniel tells us that, at the time of when this terrible persecution breaks out, the abomination of desolation will openly sit enthroned in the holy place. "The king shall do s he pleases," says Daniel. "He shall exalt himself and make himself greater than any god; he shall utter dreadful blasphemies against the God of god . . . He shall have no regard for the gods of his ancestors . . . for no good shall he have regard."
In other words, once the man of sin has cowed the human once by his threats and entangled it in the meshes of his lies and wiles, he will observe no restraint, show his hand, and act openly. He will not permit anyone to worship or invoke any other god than himself, and will proclaim himself sole lord of heaven and earth. Wherever he is not present in person, men will be obliged to pay homage to his image or statue. Et elevabitur, mangifcabitur adversus ominem Deum. He will tolerate neither the Mosaic religion, nor natural religion itself. He will persecute with equal thoroughness Jews, schismatics, heretics, deists, and every sect that recognizes the existence of a supreme being and the immortality of the life to come. Yet God, in His wisdom, will draw good from evil. The horrible tempest that His justice has allowed to be unleashed upon the earth will result in the disappearance of false religions. Along with Judaism, it will abolish the remains of Mohammedans, idolatrous superstitious, and every religion hostile to the Church.
It will dead the finishing blow to the sects of darkness. Freemasonry, Carbonarism, Illuminism, and all subversive societies will vanish in the vortex of wickedness which will be their work, and which they had prepared for centuries in the belief that it would be their definitive, supreme triumph. They will have assisted unintentionally in the establishment of the reign of unity foretold by our Lord: "There one flock then, and one shepherd."
The triumph of the wicked one will be of short duration, but the consolations that follow will be universal, abundant, proportionate to the extent of the tribulations to the Church will have suffered.
However, the final consummation will not come yet, as it is written:
And when the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and loud voices in heaven cried out; the voices of angels and of virgins, together with the voices of confessors and holy martyrs, will hail Christ with praise and acclamations, giving thanks for His victory over the Antichrist, and for the extermination of the wicked. All men, now become worshipers of one and the same God, all professing the same faith, united in the same adoration, sharing the same table, will exclaim in chorus: "The kingdom of this world now belongs our Lord and to his Anointed One . . . We praise you, O Lord God Almighty, who is and who was and who are to come; because You have assumed your great power, and You have begun Your reign. We must enfold ourselves into the love of the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus as we make reparation for our own many sins, which are so responsible for the worsening of the state of the Church Militant on earth and of the world-at-large, as we seek to restore all things in Christ the King and Mary our Immaculate Queen.
The enemies of Christ the King within in our souls and in the world-at-large will be defeated by Our Lady's Most Holy Rosary and the fulfillment of her Fatima Message, and that won't be by Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who is certainly an agent of the man of sin: Antichrist.

“On The Pains of Hell”

Sermon for the Fifth Sunday after the Epiphany
“Gather up first the cockle, and bind into bundles to burn.” Matt. 13:30.
I shall first speak of the fire, which is the principal pain that torments the senses of the damned, and afterwards of the other pains of hell.
1. Behold! the final doom of sinners who abuse the divine mercy is to burn in the fire of hell. God threatens hell, not to send us there, but to deliver us from that place of torments. “Minatur Deus gehennem, “says St. Chrysostom, “ut a gehenna liberet, et ut firmi ac stabiles evitemus minas.” (Hom. v. de Poenit). Remember, then, brethren, that God gives you Today the opportunity of hearing this sermon, that you may be preserved from hell, and that you may give up sin, which alone can lead you to hell.
2. My brethren, it is certain and of faith that there is a hell. After judgment the just shall enjoy the eternal glory of Heaven, and sinners shall be condemned to suffer the everlasting chastisement reserved for them in hell. “And these shall go into everlasting punishment, but the just into life everlasting.” (Matt. 25:46). Let us examine in what hell consists. It is what the rich glutton called it a place of torments. “In hunc locum tormentorum.” (Luke 16:28). It is a place of suffering, where each of the senses and powers of the damned has its proper torment, and in which the torments of each person will be increased in proportion to the forbidden pleasures in which he indulged. “As much as she has glorified herself and lived in delicacies, so much torment and sorrow give you to her.” (Rev. 18:7).
3. In offending God the sinner does two evils, he abandons God, the sovereign good, who is able to make him happy, and turns to creatures, who are incapable of giving any real happiness to the soul. Of this injury which men commit against him, the Lord complains by his prophet Jeremiah, “For my people have done two evils. They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and have dug to themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water.” (Jer. 2:13). Since, then, the sinner turns his back on God, he shall be tormented in hell, by the pain arising from the loss of God, of which I shall speak on another occasion [see the Sermon for the nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost], and since, in offending God, he turns to creatures, he shall be justly tormented by the same creatures, and principally by fire.
4. “The vengeance on the flesh of the ungodly is fire and worms.” (Eccl 7:19). Fire and the remorse of conscience are the principal means by which God takes vengeance on the flesh of the wicked. Hence, in condemning the reprobate to hell, Jesus Christ commands them to go into eternal fire. “Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire.” (Matt. 25:41). This fire, then, shall be one of the most cruel executioners of the damned.
5. Even in this life the pain of fire is the most terrible of all torments. However, St. Augustine says, that in comparison of the fire of hell, the fire of this earth is no more than a picture compared with the reality, “In cuius comparatione noster hie ignus depictus est." Anselm teaches, that the fire of hell as far surpasses the fire of this world, as the fire of the real exceeds that of painted fire. The pain, then, produced by the fire of hell is far greater than that which is produced by our fire because God has made the fire of this earth for the use of man, but he has created the fire of hell purposely for the chastisement of sinners; and therefore, as Tertullian says, he has made it a minister of his justice. “Longe alius est ignis, qui usui humano, alms qui Dei justitiæ deservit.” This avenging fire is always kept alive by the wrath of God. “A fire is kindled in my rage." (Jer. 15:14).
6 “And the rich man also died, and he was buried in hell.” (Luke 16:22). The damned are buried in the fire of hell; Hence, they have an abyss of fire below, an abyss of fire above, and an abyss of fire on every side. As a fish in the sea is surrounded by water, so the unhappy reprobate are encompassed by fire on every side. The sharpness of the pain of fire may be inferred from the circumstance, that the rich glutton complained of no other torment. “I am tormented in this flame.” (Ibid, v 23).
7 The Prophet Isaias says that the Lord will punish the guilt of sinners with the spirit of fire. “If the Lord shall wash away the filth of the daughters of Sion by the spirit of burning” (4. 4).. “The spirit of burning” is the pure essence of fire. All spirits or essences, through taken from simple herbs or flowers, are so penetrating, that they reach the very bones. Such is the fire of hell. Its activity is so great, that a single spark of it would be sufficient to melt a mountain of bronze. The disciple relates, that a damned person, who appeared to a religious, dipped his hand into a vessel of water; the religious placed in the vessel a candlestick of bronze, which was instantly dissolved.
8. This fire shall torment the damned not only externally, but also internally. It will burn the bowels, the heart, the brains, the blood within the veins, and the marrow within the bones. The skin of the damned shall be like a caldron, in which their bowels, their flesh, and their bones shall be burned. David says, that the bodies of the damned shall be like so many furnaces of fire. “You shall make them as an oven of fire in the time of your anger.” (Ps. 20:10).
9. O God! certain sinners cannot bear to walk under a strong sun, or to remain before a large fire in a close room; they cannot endure a spark from a candle; and they fear not the fire of hell, which, according to the Prophet Isaias, not only burns, but devours the unhappy damned. “Which of you can dwell with devouring fire. “(Is.33:14). As a lion devours a lamb, so the fire of hell devours the reprobate; but it devours without destroying life, and thus tortures them with a continual death. Continue, says St. Peter Damian to the sinner who indulges in impurity, continue to satisfy your flesh; a day will come, or rather an eternal night, when your impurities, like pitch, shall nourish a fire within your very bowels. “Venit dies, imo nox, quando libido tua vertetur in picem qua se nutriet perpetuus ignis in visceribus tuis.” (Epist. 6). And according to St. Cyprian, the impurities of the wicked shall boil in the very fat which will issue from their accursed bodies.
10, St. Jerome teaches, that in this fire sinners shall suffer not only the pain of the fire, but also all the pains, which men endure on this earth. “In uno igne omnia supplicia sentient in inferno peccatores.” (Ep. ad Pam). How manifold are the pains to which men are subject in this life. Pains in the sides, pains in the head, pains in the loins, pains in the bowels. All these together torture the damned.
11. The fire itself will bring with it the pain of darkness; for, by its smoke it will, according to St. John, produce a storm of darkness which shall blind the damned. “To whom the storm of darkness is reserved forever.” (St. Jude 13). Hence, hell is called a land of darkness covered with the shadow of death. “A land that is dark and covered with the mist of death a land of misery and darkness, where the shadow of death, and no order but everlasting horror dwells.” (Job 10:21, 22). To hear that a criminal is shut up in a dungeon for ten or twenty years excites our compassion. Hell is a dungeon closed on every side, into which a ray of the sun or the light of a candle never enters. Thus the damned “shall never see light.” (Ps 48:20). The fire of this world gives light, but the fire of hell is utter darkness. In explaining the words of David, “the voice of the Lord divides the flame of fire,” (Ps. 28:7,). St. Basil says, that in hell the Lord separates the fire that burns from the flame which illuminates, and therefore this fire burns, but gives no light. B. Albertus Magnus explains this passage more concisely by saying that God “divides the heat from the light.” St. Thomas teaches, that in hell there is only so much light as is necessary to torment the damned by the sight of their associates and of the devils, “Quantum sufficit ad videndum ilia quæ torquere possunt.” (3 p., q. 97, art. 5). And according to St. Augustine, the bare sight of these infernal monsters excites sufficient terror to cause the death of all the damned, if they were capable of dying. “Videbunt monstra, quorum visio postet illos occidere.”
12. To suffer a parching thirst, without having a drop of water to quench it, is intolerably painful. It has sometimes happened, that travelers who could procure no refreshment after a long journey, have fainted from the pain produced by thirst. So great is the thirst of the damned, that if one of them were offered all the water on this earth, he would exclaim, All this water is not sufficient to extinguish the burning thirst which I endure. But, alas! the unhappy damned shall never have a single drop of water to refresh their tongues. “He cried out and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, to cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame. “ (Luke 16:24). The rich glutton has not obtained, and shall never obtain, this drop of water, as long as God shall be God.
13. The reprobate shall be likewise tormented by the stench which pervades hell. The stench shall arise from the very bodies of the damned. “Out of their carcasses shall arise a stink.” (Isaiah 34:3). The bodies of the damned are called carcasses, not because they are dead (for they are living, and shall be forever alive to pain), but on account of the stench which they exhale. Would it not be very painful to be shut up in a close room with a fetid corpse? St. Bonaventure says, that if the body of one of the damned were placed in the earth, it would, by its stench, be sufficient to cause the death of all men. How intolerable, then, must it be to live forever in the dungeons of hell in the midst of the immense multitudes of the damned! Some foolish worldlings say, If I go to hell, I shall not be there alone. Miserable fools! do you not see that the greater the number of your companions, the more insufferable shall be your torments? “There,” says St. Thomas, “the society of the reprobate shall cause an increase and not a diminution of misery.” (Suppl., q. 86, art. 1). The society of the reprobate augments their misery, because each of the damned is a source of suffering to all the others. Hence, the greater their number, the more they shall mutually torment each other. “And the people,” says the prophet Isaias, “shall be ashes after a fire, as a bundle of thorns they shall be burnt with fire.” (Is. 33:12). Placed in the midst of the furnace of hell, the damned are like so many grains reduced to ashes by that abyss of fire, and like so many thorns tied together and wounding each other.
14. They are tormented not only by the stench of their companions, but also by their shrieks and lament. How painful it is to a person longing for sleep to hear the groans of a sick man, the barking of a dog, or the screams of an infant. The damned must listen incessantly to the wailing and howling of their associates, not for a night, nor for a thousand nights, but for all eternity, without the interruption of a single moment.
15. The damned are also tormented by the narrowness of the place in which they are confined; for, although the dungeon of hell is large, it will be too small for so many millions of the reprobate, who like sheep shall be heaped one over the other. “They are,” says David, “laid in hell like sheep.” (Ps. 38:15). We learn from the Scriptures that they shall be pressed together like grapes in the winepress, by the vengeance of an angry God. “The winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of God the Almighty.” (Rev. 19:15). From this pressure shall arise the pain of immobility. “Let them become unmovable as a stone.” (Ex. 16:16). In whatever position the damned shall fall into hell after the general judgment, whether on the side, or on the back, or with the head downwards, in that they must remain for eternity, without being ever able to move foot or hand or finger, as long as God shall be God. In a word, St. Chrysostom says, that all the pains of this life, however great they may be, are scarcely a shadow of the torments of the damned. “Hæc omnia ludicra sunt et risus ad ilia supplicia, pone ignem, ferrum, et bestias, attamen vix umbra sunt ad ilia tormenta.” (Hom, xxxix. ad pop. Ant).
16. The reprobate, then, shall be tormented in all the senses of the body. They shall also be tormented in all the powers of the soul. Their memory shall be tormented by the remembrance of the years which they had received from God for the salvation of their souls, and which they spent in laboring for their own damnation; by the remembrance of so many graces and so many divine lights which they abused. Their understanding shall be tormented by the knowledge of the great happiness which they forfeited in losing their souls, Heaven, and God; and by a conviction that this loss is irreparable. Their will shall be tormented by seeing that whatsoever they ask or desire shall be refused. “The desire of the wicked shall perish.” (Ps. 111:10). They shall never have any of those things for which they wish, and must forever suffer all that is repugnant to their will. They would wish to escape from these torments and to find peace; but in these torments they must forever remain, and peace they shall never enjoy.
17. Perhaps they may sometimes receive a little comfort, or at least enjoy occasional repose? No, says Cyprian, “Nullum ibi refrigerium, nullum remedium, atque ita omni tormento atrocius desperatio.” (Serm. de Ascens). In this life, how great soever may be the tribulations which we suffer, there is always some relief or interruption. The damned must remain forever in a pit of fire, always in torture, always weeping, without ever enjoying a moment’s repose. But perhaps there is someone to pity their sufferings? At the very time that they are so much afflicted the devils continually reproach them with the sins for which they are tormented, saying, Suffer, burn, live forever in despair, you yourselves have been the cause of your destruction. And do not the saints, the divine mother, and God, who is called the Father of Mercies, take compassion on their miseries? No; "the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from Heaven.” (Matt. 26:29). The saints, represented by the stars, not only do not pity the damned, but they even rejoice in the vengeance inflicted on the injuries offered to their God. Neither can the divine mother pity them, because they hate her Son. And Jesus Christ, who died for the love of them, cannot pity them, because they have despised his love, and have voluntarily brought themselves to perdition.
