A Brief Reflection of Our Patron of Hopeless Cases and the Impossible: Saint Jude Thaddeus
It had been my intention for some time prior to a few years ago to provide readers of this website with the material about Saint Jude Thaddeus, who took custody of the Holy Shroud in which his Divine cousin, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, was buried and thus plays a particularly important role in devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus as the Holy Face is displayed on what has come to be known as the Shroud of Turin. One thing after another intervened, so I decided to wait until the Feast of Saints Simon and Jude this year before completing work on this reflection.
A very readable summary of the life of Saint Jude is found in a booklet published by the Shrine of Saint Jude in Chicago, Illinois. We found the booklet in its republished form at Saint Jude Shrine in Stafford, Texas, on December 20, 2006, during our first visit there. Here is the summary of the life of Saint Jude as found in The Life of Saint Jude and Devotional Exercises:
Saint Jude Thaddeus was a cousin of Our Divine Lord and one of the twelve apostles chose by Jesus to spread the Kingdom of God to the uttermost parts of the earth.
He is surnamed “Thaddeus” to distinguish him from Judas Iscariot, the traitor.
Saint Jude was the son of Cleophas and Mary Cleopha, and he had three brothers, Saint James the Less, Saint Simon of Cleophas, and Saint Joseph, surnamed the Just.
Saint Jude was brought up by his parents a pious and innocent youth. From their close family ties we may presume that in their boyhood days Jesus and he must have frequently associated with one another.
No mention is made of his trade or occupation before his call to the apostalate, but when Our began His public life Saint Jude abandoned everything and followed Jesus. From the time that he began to preach the Gospel, Saint Jude labored with untiring zeal, especially for the conversion of the Gentiles.
Saint Jude wrote an epistle, the style of which is in keeping with the amiable disposition ascribed to him by tradition. His epistle, although one of the shortest in the New Testament, is remarkable for the strength and grandeur of its language.
Saint Jude preached the Gospel of Christ amid untold sufferings and persecution in Judea, Samaria, Idumea and Mesopotamia. He seems to have been among the last of the apostles to die for his Savior.
The numberless souls converted by Saint Jude to the true religion aroused the hatred of unbelievers. Arriving at the town of Suamyr, the infidels, seized with an insane fury, dragged him outside of the city to put him to death.
Authorities differ as to the manner of his death. According to some historians he was pierced with arrows, while others maintain that he was beaten with clubs and his head cleft with an ax.
His body was brought to Rome and is now honored in Saint Peters basilica. Pope Paul III grated a plenary indulgence to all who visit his tomb on his feast day, which is celebrated October 28th. Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B., provided us with informative reflections on the lives of Saints Simon and Jude in The Liturgical Year:
Instead of thy fathers, sons are born to thee! Thus does the Church, disowned by Israel, extol in her chants the apostolic fruitfulness which resides in her till the end of time. Yesterday she was already filled with that loving hope, which is never deceived, that the holy apostles Simon and Jude would anticipate their solemnity by shedding blessings upon her. Such is the condition of her existence on earth, that she can remain here only as long as she continues to give children to our Lord; and therefore, in the Mass of October 27 she makes us read the passage of the Gospel where it is said: 'I am the true vine, and My Father is the husbandman. Every branch in Me, that beareth not fruit, He will take away: and every one that beareth fruit, He will purge it, that it may bring forth more fruit.'
The pruning is painful, as the Epistle of the vigil points out. In the name of the other branches, honoured like himself with the divine election, the apostle there recounts the labours, sufferings of every description, persecutions, revilings, denial, at the cost of which the preacher of the Gospel purchases the right to call sons those whom he has begotten in Christ Jesus. Now, as St. Paul more than once repeats, especially in the Epistle of the feast, this supernatural generation of the saints is nothing else but the mystical reproduction of the Son of God, who grows up in each of the elect from infancy to the measure of the perfect man.
However meagre in details be the history of these glorious apostles, we learn from their brief legend how amply they contributed to this great work of generating sons of God. Without any repose, and even to the shedding of their blood, they 'edified the body of Christ'; and the grateful Church thus prays to our Lord to-day: 'O God, who by means of Thy blessed apostles Simon and Jude hast granted us to come to the knowledge of Thy name; grant that we may celebrated their eternal glory by making progress in virtues, and improve by this celebration.
St. Simon is represented in art with a saw, the instrument of his martyrdom. St. Jude's square points him out as an architect of the house of God. St. Paul called himself by this name; and St. Jude by his Catholic Epistle, has also a special right to be reckoned among our Lord's principal workmen. But our apostle had another nobility, far surpassing all earthly titles: being nephew, by his father Cleophas or Alpheasu, to St. Joseph, and legal cousin to the Man-God, Jude was one of those called by their compatriots the brethren of the carpenter's Son. We may gather from St. John's Gospel another precious detail concerning him. In the admirable discourse at the close of the last Supper, our Lord said: 'He that loveth Me, shall be loved of my Father: and I will love him and will manifest Myself to him.' Then Jude asked Him: 'Lord, how is it, that Thou wilt manifest Thyself to us, and not to the world?' And he received from Jesus this reply: 'If any one love Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him, and will make Our abode with him. He that loveth Me not keepeth not My word. And the word which you have heard is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me.'
Ecclesiastical history informs us that, towards the end of his reign, and when the persecution he had raised was at its height, Domitian caused to be brought to him from the east two grandsons of the apostle St. Jude. He had some misgivings with regard to these descendants of David's royal line; for they represented the family of Christ, Himself, whom His disciples declared to be king of the whole world. Domitian was able to assure himself that these two humble Jews could in no way endanger the empire; and that if they attributed to Christ sovereign power, it was a power not to be visibly exercised till the end of the world. The simple and courageous language of these two men made such an impression on the emperor, that according to the historian Hegesippus from who Eusebius borrowed the narrative, he gave orders for the persecution to be suspended. Well, Domitian was wrong about the power that Christ the King meant to be exercised very visibly before His Second Coming at the end of time. However, he did have more respect for Him than do the blaspheming statist of the counterfeit church of conciliarism who claim to teach in His Holy Name while denying almost all of the Sacred Deposit of Faith and corrupting Sacred Worship and the integrity of moral teaching.
A very sad aspect of the conciliar revolution is that most Catholics have never heard of the Holy Face Devotion, although I recall that a pastor in the conciliar structures instituted it for all the right reasons in his parish some decades ago now. Devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus is a rebuke to the conciliar revolutionaries, and Saint Jude Thaddeus is inextricably linked to it.
The devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus was given by Our Lord Himself to Sister Mary of Saint Peter in the Nineteenth Century as a means to make reparation for the crimes of blasphemers and communists. Blasphemies galore and what has turned into open expressions of support for communism and communists have been hallmarks of conciliarism, whose era of blasphemy, apostasy, sacrilege and heresy opened on this date fifty-nine years ago as the lifelong Modernist and supporter of The Sillon, Angelo Cardinal Roncalli, stepped out on the balcony of the Basilica of Saint Peter to begin the current line of antipopes whose very words and actions have been opposed to those of Our Lord. These hideous men have been, in other words, anti-Christ.
Roncalli himself was very much cleverer about his agenda than has been his fifth successor as the head of the counterfeit church of conciliarism, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who, of course, has distinguished himself as a sympathizer of all leftist causes. There is not enough time available for me to name all such instances, but I will provide two examples as reminders:
What was I saying about blasphemy and communism?
Bergoglio managed to give his support to a mass murdering communist and to blaspheme the Mother of God by mentioning her in the same context of a man who persecuted believing Catholics in Cuba.
Ah, the Argentine Apostate was the not the first. Roncalli had beaten him to the proverbial punch before Bergoglio had been born on December 19, 1936:
The appointment of professor Roncalli to the chair of Ecclesiastical History at the Roman Seminary was vetoed in 1912, having been indicated of “dubious orthodoxy.”
It must be remembered, at this juncture, the clamorous and forgotten episode of an intervention of the Holy Office against professor Don Roncalli that put an abrupt end to the teaching by the future John XXIII even at the Bergamo Seminary. It had been discovered that Roncalli, in defiance of the Encyclical “Pascendi” by his co-regional Pope Sarto, Pius X, not only acted as a modernist, but corresponded with the excommunicated priest Ernesto Buonaiuti. This priest and historian of the religions was amongst the major exponents of Modernism in Italy, and was excommunicated in 1926 for his progressive activity and his open insubordination to the ecclesiastical hierarchy. To get a precise idea of Buonaiuti, and of the ideas that he professed and advertised, it would suffice to go through the following letter written by the modernist priest, in October 1906, to the historian and French sociologist Albert Houtin, also a priest, who ended up abandoning the priesthood and the Church.
A known representative of Italian Modernism, just expelled by a decision of Pius X from the Collegio Apollinare, thus wrote to his French friend: “… Here, at the very center of Medieval theocracy, I wish to fulfill a work of tenacious corrosion… There are many of us friends, here in Rome, now, determined to operate in the critical field, to prepare the ultimate fall of the whole old carcass of Medieval orthodoxy. The trouble is that the laity does not favor us for now, as it ignores, nay, it tends to shift once again toward the Vatican in order to sustain the Monarchy. But I do hope that the example set by France, the very fatality of the historical evolution will soon also give to us an anti-clerical parliament and, with it, a radical ministry. Then our hour will have come.” The letter is self explanatory, and it is the most enlightened presentation of its author. Around such a rebel gathered a group of modernist priests that put so much effort into the propagation of their theories that Pius X believed it appropriate to condemn the movement with the Encyclical “Pascendi,” promulgated in 1907, which severely condemned Modernism. The same Pope set up in the Vatican a special section, the “Sodalitium Pianum,” into whose chair he placed monsignor Benigni, in order to single out and hit, one after the other, the suspects with severe sanctions. The group of the modernists was disrupted and dispersed. Buonaiuti, with his collaborator, Turchi, left for Ireland; the other priest followers, among whom Pioli, who left the habit, Rossi, who became an Evangelical pastor, Hagan, who retired in hermitic solitude, De Stefano, who also dropped the habit, Balducci and Perella who, shifted to the secular state, went underground.
It comes as no surprise that Roncalli would come into contact with such a champion of modernism. Evidently, the “Sodalitium Pianum” had been informed and had conveyed to the Holy Office a detailed denunciation. The conviction and immediate suspension fell on the large head of the teacher from Sotto il Monte, despite the cautious defense by the bishop. That denunciation, and the consequent intervention by the Holy Office, as was the custom, were archived in a special section of the Secret Vatican Archive. In the dusty shadow of that gigantic archive, among mountains of papers perfectly recorded and organized, they lay forgotten for nearly half a century. Until one afternoon, after office hours, a heavy, slightly shuffled footstep paced those arcades and those rooms in the half-light, and stood before a metal cabinet inside of which, so many years earlier, they had been locked up. The key turned in the lock and the doors were opened. Two large hands rummaged for some time through the numbered files, full of yellowed documents. The competence of the researcher in the matter of archives soon prevailed in that ocean of documents rigorously organized.
In his large right hand ornate with the “Anello Piscatorio” (Fisherman’s ring) stopped some old rustling papers. In the high stillness of the deserted archive John XXIII examined, for a time, smiling to himself, that ancient condemnation. He then shut the doors again and, with those papers in his hand, he returned to his apartment with the ermine trimmed Camauro (white fur-trimmed red bonnet associated with Medieval popes) lowered onto his eyes, while the shadows of the night descended upon the eleven-thousand deserted rooms of the Vatican, watched by the unhurried, equal pacing of the Swiss Guards.
That night, unconsciously, John XXIII inaugurated, with that, his secret tampering in the Vatican Archives, that which would later become, with Paul VI, a pattern to the detriment of History: that of making compromising documents regarding the person of the Pontiff and his closest entourage vanish.
Having become Pope, Roncalli did not refrain from commenting, as was his style, on that misadventure of youth and would say, one day, in the course of an audience, “…For, as you can see, even a priest placed under “observation” by the Holy Office can, on occasion, become Pope!” Revealing, in the joke, his deep-rooted scorn toward the institutions of the traditional Church. The appeasement of Communism and Communist regimes began, of course, with the first in the current line of antipopes, that is, with the great, corpulent usurper himself, Angelo Roncalli/John XXIII and the Metz Accord that was negotiated in his behalf by Eugene Cardinal Tisserant (for detailed information, please see Conciliarsm: The Most Dangerous, Destructive and Corrupt Force on Earth.)
Unlike Jorge Mario Bergoglio and his band of revolutionaries, Saint Jude denounced idolatry and sin with great courage and boldness. He did not mince words. A simple review of his Epistle demonstrates that there is a great contrast between his true apostolic zeal for souls and the conciliarists’ track record of enabling unrepentant sinners in their lives of perversity and of reaffirming adherents of false religions in their idolatries:
[1] Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James: to them that are beloved in God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called. [2] Mercy unto you, and peace, and charity be fulfilled. [3] Dearly beloved, taking all care to write unto you concerning your common salvation, I was under a necessity to write unto you: to beseech you to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints. [4] For certain men are secretly entered in, (who were written of long ago unto this judgment,) ungodly men, turning the grace of our Lord God into riotousness, and denying the only sovereign Ruler, and our Lord Jesus Christ. [5] I will therefore admonish you, though ye once knew all things, that Jesus, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, did afterwards destroy them that believed not:
[6] And the angels who kept not their principality, but forsook their own habitation, he hath reserved under darkness in everlasting chains, unto the judgment of the great day. [7] As Sodom and Gomorrha, and the neighbouring cities, in like manner, having given themselves to fornication, and going after other flesh, were made an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire. [8] In like manner these men also defile the flesh, and despise dominion, and blaspheme majesty. [9] When Michael the archangel, disputing with the devil, contended about the body of Moses, he durst not bring against him the judgment of railing speech, but said: The Lord command thee. [10] But these men blaspheme whatever things they know not: and what things soever they naturally know, like dumb beasts, in these they are corrupted.
[11] Woe unto them, for they have gone in the way of Cain: and after the error of Balaam they have for reward poured out themselves, and have perished in the contradiction of Core. [12] These are spots in their banquets, feasting together without fear, feeding themselves, clouds without water, which are carried about by winds, trees of the autumn, unfruitful, twice dead, plucked up by the roots, [13] Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own confusion; wandering stars, to whom the storm of darkness is reserved for ever. [14] Now of these Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying: Behold, the Lord cometh with thousands of his saints, [15] To execute judgment upon all, and to reprove all the ungodly for all the works of their ungodliness, whereby they have done ungodly, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against God.
[16] These are murmurers, full of complaints, walking according to their own desires, and their mouth speaketh proud things, admiring persons for gain' s sake. [17] But you, my dearly beloved, be mindful of the words which have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, [18] Who told you, that in the last time there should come mockers, walking according to their own desires in ungodlinesses. [19] These are they, who separate themselves, sensual men, having not the Spirit. [20] But you, my beloved, building yourselves upon your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
[21] Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto life everlasting. [22] And some indeed reprove, being judged:[23] But others save, pulling them out of the fire. And on others have mercy, in fear, hating also the spotted garment which is carnal. [24] Now to him who is able to preserve you without sin, and to present you spotless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,[25] To the only God our Saviour through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory and magnificence, empire and power, before all ages, and now, and for all ages of ages. Amen. (Jude 1-25.)
Yes, there is quite a contrast between Saint Jude and the conciliar authorities who believe that the spotted garment is no impediment to salvation.
Catholics who know and love Saint Jude understand that he renowned for being the help and the refuge of those with despaired of cases, of those who are hopeless. Although we pray to Saint Jude Thaddeus every day without fail, there are times when we have had particular requests that he has unfailingly answered, and he will be of unfailing assistance to us to remain faithful to the Catholic Church as in this time of apostasy and betrayal without one iota of compromise with the false church that traces its origins to this very day fifty-nine years ago. Apart from Holy Mass and Our Lady’s Most Holy Rosary, one of the chief ways that we can remain faithful and to be as courage the Apostle who carried the Holy Shroud with the Image of the Holy Face of Jesus impressed upon it, is to make reparation for the crimes of communists and blasphemers according to the devotions revealed to Saint Mary of Saint Peter by Our Lord.
Dorothy Scallan provided an account of the origin of the Holy Face devotion and of the Golden Arrow Prayer in her book on the life of the Venerable Leo Dupont, a layman who was known in his lifetime as The Holy Man of Tours:
Then a change occurred her mystical life. The Saviour made known to the Carmelite that he wanted something more from her than her own personal sanctification through prayer and penance. The day was August 26, 1843. Sister Marie Pierre had been at Carmel about four years. When she knelt down for the regular prayer in choir at five o'clock in the evening, the Saviour revealed to her the first of a series of communications pertaining to a special mission with which He intended to entrust her. As usual, Sister Marie Pierre set this message down in writing and turned in in to the prioress who, preoccupied with other matters, gave it but slight attention.
However, a few days later when Sister Marie Pierre returned with more written accounts of further communications on the same subject, Mother Mary of the Incarnation realized that she was faced with something that was meant to reach beyond the confines of the cloister. She therefore decided to consult some reliable person outside the convent, and turned to Leo in her difficulty. “Mr. Dupont, in the last few days something quite unusual has taken place in our Carmel. Sister Marie Pierre tells me that our Lord has given her a special assignment. He told her that He was being gravely insulted by the sin of blasphemy and that He wanted reparation.”
“Blasphemy!” repeated Leo, thoughtfully. “What exactly did our Lord say?” he asked interested.
“Let me read you that written account which Sister Marie Pierre gave me, explaining precisely what transpired,” the prioress said, reaching for a sheet of paper.
“Yes, Reverend Mother, I am listening,” said Leo on the other side of the iron grating.
“Here is what the sister writes: 'Gathering the powers of my soul, Our Lord addressed me in these words: My name is everywhere blasphemed! Even children blaspheme! He made me understand that this frightful sin more than any other grievously wounds Him. By blasphemy the sinner curses Him to His Face, attacks Him openly, annuls redemption, and pronounces his own condemnation.'”
The prioress paused for a moment and then asked, “Mr. Dupont, what do you think of this? To us the very word blasphemy, is frightful!”
“Yes, Mother, but there is no running away from the fact that blasphemy is rife in our midst,” replied Leo.
“Of course, you would know better than any of us in the cloister who are shut off from worldly contact. But let me read you the rest of the written account Sister Marie Pierre has given me,” the prioress said and then began to read further, “to heal the wound inflicted on the heart of the Saviour by the poisoned arrow of blasphemy, the Master offered me a prayer which He called the Golden Arrow.
The words of this short act of praise are as follows: May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible ad ineffable name of God be praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in heaven and on earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the most Holy Sacreament of the Altar. Amen. What do you think about this, Mr. Dupont?”
“I think the prayer is a striking act of praise to the Holy Name of God,” at once answered Leo who saw in the Golden Arrow a fitting reparation for the outrages of modern free thinkers, anarchists, atheists, and fallen-away Catholics.
“But let me tell you the rest, Mr. Dupont. According to Sister Marie Pierre, our Lord charges her to see to it that news of this revelation be given out to the public and that the 'Golden Arrow' be printed on leaflets and distributed so that people can recite this prayer in reparation for blasphemy.” explained the prioress.
“Well, in a case of that kind,” replied Leo, thoughtfully, “where distribution of printed prayers is involved, we shall need the approval of His Excellency, Archbishop Morlot. There may be delays and difficulties . . . “
Precisely, and according to Sister Marie Pierre, our Saviour already warned her that she would have a great deal to suffer in this work entrusted to her that the more agreeable anything is to God the more bitter does Satan try to make it, that thereby the soul may be disgusted and give way to discouragement.”
Leo listened attentively but said nothing, and the prioress went on, “But our Lord also assure Sister Marie Pierre that although Satan would do everything in his power to annihilate the work, his efforts would be in vain.”
“Mother, it seems you kept the most consoling part for the end,” Leo said cheerfully, but the prioress pressed on for a conclusion.
“Mr. Dupont, how shall we commence? Would you have some sort of plan?”
“Plan? But Mother, don't you see that deciding on a plan in this Work has not been left to our individual choice?”
“What do you mean?”
“Simply that our Lord Himself outlined a plan. He designated the press to be the means of establishing the Work! Isn't that right?”
“Yes, Sister said that our Lord told her expressly to have the prayers of reparation printed and distributed!” agreed the prioress.
“But to print and distribute these leaflets, we must first secure the Archbishop's permission,” countered Leo.
“Why do you think so?”
“I think it will be difficult because I know that the world loves flattery and dislikes correction. Because Sister Marie Pierre's revelation point a finger of blame at the sins of our modern society, it will require a good deal of fortitude not to shy away from making this message known.”
“Yet, we must do it. Mr. Dupont, do you think you could lay the matter before the Archbishop at your convenience?” the prioress asked hestitatingly.
“Well, Mother, I may as well tell you that I'm not accustomed to paying visits to bishops. However, if in the last resort it should devolve on me to make this errand, I will certainly not refuse. But if I may say so, I think the convent's spiritual director ought to be the person to carry this matter to His Excellency.”
In the three months that followed nothing was done to further the work of reparation. The matter was kept secret inside and outside the convent. Only the religious superiors and a few intimate friends of Carmel knew anything about it. However, Sister Marie Pierre in the meantime plunger herself deeply in the new Work.
“Since that communication, my soul is completely changed, she wrote in her diary. “Our Lord has inspired me to add to the 'Golden Arrow” some other prayers of reparation, and He has condescended to let me know that He accepted this exercise . . . “
Then, after Communion on the Feast of St. Jon of the Cross, November 24, Sister Marie Pierre received another revelation concerning the new Work. As soon as Jesus had entered my soul, He made me hear these words: Until now, I have shown you only in part the designs of My Heart, but today I will reveal them to you in in all their fulness. The earth is covered with crimes, this violation of the First Three Commandments of God has irritated My Father; the Holy Name of God blasphemed, and the Holy Day of the Lord profaned fills up the measure of iniquities; these sins have risen unto the Throne of God and provoked His wrath, which will soon burst forth, if His justice be not appeased; at no time have these crimes reached such a pitch! I desire and most ardently, that there be formed, to honor the Name of My Father, and Association, properly approved and organized. Your superiors are right in not wishing to take any steps concerning this devotion but such as are well based, for otherwise My designs would not be fulfilled. Then I said; 'Ah, if I did but know beyond a doubt that it was Thyself who has spoken to me, it would not be so difficult to lay these things before my superiors.' Sister Mary of Saint Peter was given the following revelation by Our Lord on March 29, 1847, which was Monday of Holy Week that year:
The Saviour enjoins Sister Mary through her prayers and the instruments of His Passion to make was on the Communists who are the enemies of the Church and her Christ. He tells her that whereas the weapons of the enemy inflict death, the weapons of His Passion restore life. This revelation strikes an unprecedented peak stressing the militancy of the Church on earth, as it demonstrates the power of the individual soul to forge her WILL against the powers of evil through prayer. It must be so for, after all the battle real and actual which goes on between the Church and hell is not a battle of guns and mobilized divisions in uniform, for Satan has none of these at his disposal, but he employs only his formidable WILL of evil to spread disaster. Coping with this force, the Church's militant members forge their WILLS of good, through Christ, to defeat the powers of the infernal regions.
Today after Holy Communion our Lord gave me a new mission, one which ought to frighten me, yet since I know I am nothing but a weak instrument in His hands, I am perfectly at peace.
Our Lord commanded me to make war on the Communists because He said they were the enemies of the Church and of her Christ. He told me also that most of these wolfish men who are now Communists had been born in the Church whose bitter enemies they now openly declare themselves to be. Then our Saviour added:
“I have already told you that I hold you in My hands as an arrow. I now want to hurl this arrow against My enemies. To arm you for the battle ahead, I give you the weapons of My Passion, that is My Cross which these enemies dread and also the other instruments of My tortures. Go forward to meet these foes with the artlessness of a child, and the bravery of a courageous soldier. Receive for this mission the benediction of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
Having been favored with this communication, I frequently call on the Blessed Virgin to be the depository of these sacred weapons which her Divine Son gave me since she is called the Tower of David on which hang a thousand bucklers.
Since our Saviour continued to grant me further lights on this subject I now said to Him. “Lord, give me a skillful hand and train me to use well these weapons which You have entrusted to me for the combat. “To this our Lord answered:
“The weapons of My enemies inflict death but My weapons give life.”

As has been demonstrated amply since March 13, 2013, Jorge Mario Bergoglio is among the world’s foremost transgressors of the Ten Commandments, for which he has as much contempt as Martin Luther himself.
The conciliar authorities have used their usurped offices to will the spread of that which our true popes have declared to be evil by condemning it solemnly. They have been and continue to be singular instruments of perdition to divide believing Catholics against themselves. Alas, their kingdom of evil shall fall, and it is doing so right now in many ways.
It was eight days later, on Easter Tuesday, April 6, 1847, that Saint Mary of Saint Peter was visited by Our Lord again:
Sister Mary of St. Peter is encouraged by our Lord to continue her valiant battle against Communism and she is promised the reward of Heaven itself for her faithful conduct in this war.
I have entered the arena to battle with the enemies of God, and since I am engaged in this war under the banner of obedience, if I may so express myself, my soul is at peace. Fighting under this banner I feel safe, and I no longer fear the demon. Our Lord has given me the grace to launch an offensive warfare.
Today, after Holy Communion, He inspired me to be brave in the encounter, promising me that as a reward for my faithful conduct in these battles, He would give me a Cross of Honor, which would have the power of opening Heaven to me. He also promised me the gold of charity by which I understood that I would be granted all the graces needed to triumph patiently and lovingly over any obstacles that would come my way.
Have fought the enemies of God during these past three solemn feast days (The three days of Holy Week) and that with all my strength, I must explain that since I have uttered many imprecations against them, I am not somewhat saddened for having done so. I well know that the holy King David has done as much, as for example in his Psalm 108 (They have spoken against me with a lying tongue; and they have attacked me without cause. Let these my accusers be converted with shame and let them be wrapt with the mantle of their own confusion. From PSALM 108) yet I am not certain whether the same course is allowed me. Nevertheless, everything that I said during the prayer was inspired by our Lord, and should it turn out that I have been mistaken, I will, of course, do this no more. The following is the formula of my militant procedure.
I begin by placing my soul in our Lord's hands, after which I beg Him to use my soul as He would a bow, urging Him to bend it so that the arrows would fly directly towards his enemies.
After doing this I proceed to enter the battlefield, fortified with the Cross and the other instruments of our Lord's tortures as my weapons of war, leveling their infinite conquering power against the military entrenchments of the enemy, in the way He has taught me. Then I say:
“May God arise and let His enemies be scattered and let all those who hate Him flee before His Face!
“May the thrice Holy Name of God overthrow all of their plans!
“May the thrice Holy Name of the Living God split them up by disagreements!
“May the terrible Name of the God of Eternity stamp out all their godlessness!
Repeating other similar ejaculations, I continue to level these rounds of ammunition at God's enemies, and after I have beaten them down I add:
“Lord, I do not desire the death of the sinner, but I want him to be converted and to live. 'Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.'”
Feeling disturbed about uttering these imprecations, I sometimes worry but I must make it clear that never do I have the intention to wish evil to the enemy. I desire only to oppose their wickedness and their passions. In short, what I want is to kill not them but the “evil spirit” within them.
Such is the spiritual exercise which I perform without any mental effort and with great ease, because I simply allow myself to be led by the grace given me, but I fully believe that there is someone very anxious to alarm me, this being the general of the opposing side, the devil. Our Lord was not only referring to the revolutionaries at work in Europe at the time. He, Who is outside of time and space, was referring also to all subsequent revolutionaries, including those of conciliarism, a and He wants us to kill the evil spirit that is within them by making use of the Holy Face devotion as best as is possible.
A further motivation for us to do so can be found in a revelation given to Saint Peter of Saint Mary on October 4, 1846, that indicated much worse chastisements lay ahead, especially for the performance of unnecessary work Sundays:
Herewith our Saviour complains of the desecration of Sundays and He urges Sister Mary to pray for the cessation of forbidden labor on Sundays. Later He also threatens to punish the world for these crimes against God's Majesty not by the elements but by the “malice of revolutionary men.”
Several months have passed since I experienced anything extraordinary. Our Lord during this time of trial, deigned however to purify my soul by great interior sufferings, as all consciousness of His Presence was withdrawn from me.
But on the morning, as soon as I had received Holy Communion, He intimated to me that He wanted to keep me at His feet and I obeyed. He then made me hear these sad and frightful words:
“My justice is irritated on account of the profanations of the holy day of Sunday. I see a victim.”
I answered, “Lord, You know that my superior have given me permission to abandon myself into Your divine hands. Therefore do with me whatever may please You, although, I must indeed add, 'What am I, anyhow?' Oh Lord,” I further said to Him, “is it indeed You Yourself Who speaks in these revelations to me?”
Our Lord answered me:
“You shall not remain long in this doubt.”
Thereupon it seemed to me that our Saviour accepted the Act of self-oblation which I had just made Him, and He told me that He would in a new way take possession of my whole being, so that in a certain manner He Himself would suffer within me, in order to appease the Divine Justice, aroused by reason of the desecration of Sunday.
After that our Lord commanded me to receive Holy Communion every Sunday for these three particular intentions:
1st In a spirit of atoning for all forbidden works done on Sundays, which as holy days are to be sanctified.
2nd To appease Divine Justice which was on the very verge of striking on account of the profanations of holy days.
3rd To implore the conversion of those sinners who desecrate Sundays, and to succeed in obtaining the cessation of forbidden Sunday labor.
Following this revelation, our Lord invited me to offer His Holy Face to His Eternal Father as a means of obtaining these gifts of mercy.
Such are the communications which for more than three years I have received from our Lord, all of which are repeatedly directed towards the same end, as our Divine Saviour continues to complain of these two crimes, the profanation of Sundays and the blaspheming of God's Holy Name.
Remark – Soon I received proof of that which He told me in this last communication when He said that He would not leave me long in doubt as to whether it was indeed He who foretold to me what chastisements of God's Justice would be felt because of the profanation of Sunday. For there occurred so frightful and so unprecedented an overflowing of the River Loire as had not been seen in centuries. The whole city of Tours was in imminent danger as terror and confusion gripped the citizens. Everywhere people acknowledged that an Omnipotent Hand was wielding the elements at will and even those persons who professed hardly any religious belief whatsoever now openly admitted that it was only through a miracle that the whole city of Tours did not perish. But the real case that provoked God to send this punishment on the city was the profanation of Sunday, as our Lord Himself told me, yet this principal fact was and continues to be ignored.
But what filled my soul with sadness was an interior light which our Lord granted me by which I saw that God's Justice was preparing to send us still other chastisements. This is interesting when one considers the fact that Our Lady herself had wept over the profanation of Sundays when she had appeared to Maximim Giraud and Melanie Calvat on September 19, 1846, just fifteen days before Our Lord spoke to Sister Mary of Saint Peter. We have much work to do to make reparation for our own sins, no less those of others, including the conciliar revolutionaries, and it is thus urgent to make use of the means given to us in these latter times to do so.
Above all else, though, as we recall the wonderous power of the Saint of Hopeless cases is to “build up the edifice of perfection upon our most holy faith” so that we will see in all others the image of Our Lord and carry ourselves about as Saint Jude Thaddeus carried about the impress of the Holy Face on the Holy Shroud:
O glorious Saint Jude Thaddeus, by those sublime prerogatives, herewith thou was ennoble in thy lifetime, namely, thy kinship with our Lord Jesus Christ according to the flesh, and thy vocation to be an Apostle; by that glory which is now thine in heaven as the reward of thine apostolic labors and thy martyrdom: obtain for us from the Giver of every good and perfect gift all the graces whereof we stand in need in order to treasure up in our heart the divinely inspired doctrines which thou hast transmitted to us in Thy Epistle; that is to say, to build up the edifice of perfection upon our most holy faith, praying by the grace of the Holy Spirit; to keep ourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of Jesus Christ unto eternal life; to strive by all means to help them that go stray; exalting thus the glory and majesty, the power and the dominion of Him who is able to keep us without sin and to present us spotless with exceeding joy at the coming of our divine Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ. We turn to Our Lady in this time of terrible sacrilege, apostasy and blasphemy, begging her help, especially through her Most Holy Rosary in this month of October, the month of her Holy Rosary, trusting that the acts of reparation that we offer her through the Golden Arrow Prayer and her Most Holy Rosary for the blasphemies of the day will be used as she sees fit to help usher in the day when a true pope will be restored to the Throne of Saint Peter to defend, not defame, the honor, majesty and glory of the Most Blessed Trinity.

Saint Jude Powerful Helper in Extreme Need
By reason of the shameful treason of Judas Iscariot against our Savior, the name of Judas had fallen into such disrepute, that even the apostle Jude Thaddeus suffered thereby. But it seems that our Divine Redeemer wishes to repair the honor of Saint Jude by frequently giving aid to those in extreme distress under condition that they invoke this saint. Our Lord Himself, in a vision, directed Saint Bridget of Sweden to turn with great confidence to Saint Jude. “In accordance with his surname 'Thaddeus' (the amiable, loving)”, said Jesus, “he will show himself most willing to give help.”
Saint Jude Thaddeus shows his particular assistance and protection in circumstances deemed most difficult and desperate. From earliest times he has been considered a helper in urgent need. Thousands who have implored his aid have received extraordinary and miraculous help in cases which according to all human calculations seemed hopeless.
Ven. Columba of the Order of Saint Dominic, realized how pleasing it is to God if we zealously venerate the holy apostle Thaddeus and promote his honor, because he is so little known and loved. She understood that by venerating this saint, one can obtain assistance in difficulties where help is despaired of, in trials and afflictions of grave and serious nature.
Saint Jude has obtained recovery for those stricken with maladies which defy all human skill and remedies; he has obtained grace for persons to overcome deeply rooted evil habits, those afflictions of the soul which are far more difficult to cure than any bodily ailment. Our holy apostle obtains help in anguish, distress, calumny, poverty, misery, yea, even in despair and in circumstances where aid seems utterly impossible. In return, he demands our confidence, love and gratitude; if our requests are not immediately grated precisely according to our own ideas and wishes, they surely will be, sooner or later, according to the designs of God.
A shining example of veneration of this holy apostle is given us by Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, who during his whole life highly honored a relic of Saint Jude, and in death asked that the relic be placed upon his breast and buried with him.
Let all who are in tribulation be animated with confidence in the intercession of Saint Jude.
Let not this holy apostle be justified in complaining that we do not avail ourselves of his merits and powerful protection. He is the helper, the consoler of all oppressed with heavy trials. Let us say with confidence

How to Obtain the Aid of Saint Jude
Holy Mass
One of the most powerful means to obtain the aid of Saint Jude in special needs and distress, is to have the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass offered in his honor. Nothing gives greater pleasure to the saints than if we offer a Holy Mass in their honor. In great affliction, or to obtain a special favor, one may have a triduum (3 Masses) or a novena of Masses (9) offered in honor of this holy apostle, or assist at Holy Mass for such a number of days, imploring his aid. On page eleven you will find “Offering” which may be recited after the Consecration at every Holy Mass offered in honor of Saint Jude.
Holy Communion, Novenas, Prayers
Make novenas in honor of Saint Jude. Approach Holy Communion in his honor when you ask your favor and again, in gratitude when Saint Jude obtains it for you. Also say the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be, three times.

Choose nine Sundays to practice special devotion to Saint Jude. Certainly, firm confidence in this saint will be bountifully rewarded. God has obtained that He will grant the assistance of His grace to those who in desperate needs and abandonment, take refuge to Saint Jude Thaddeus.
Advice in Grace Difficulties
To those who take refuge with Saint Jude, it will be of untold benefit, if they give ample alms or perform some other work of mercy in his honor. Nothing gives us a surer pledge of the help of God and the intercession of the saints than works of mercy. Saint Leo says, “Prayer has the greatest efficacy to obtain favors from God when it is supported by works of mercy.” And Saint Gregory of Nazianzen writes, “The merciful have the key to the treasures of God.”
Lefer, a pious priest, asserts, “All classes of people in the most desperate situations came to me. Frequently all means failed to obtain the longed-for grace until I said to them: Practice mercy. If they followed this advice, they invariably received help.” “Give to the poor and receive the kingdom of heaven," says Saint Methodius. Alms have the power of cancelling the debt of temperal punishment due to our sins. A mystic writes: “The poor are the physicians of our wounds. We can never give the poor as much as we receive from them because for the piece of bread we give them they issue a ticket of heaven for us.”
That is why so many charitable men die a good death, even though they were great sinners. It is the pronounced experience of many saints and learned men and confessors, that sinners who willingly give alms, will not die impenitent. One saint says, “Never have I seen a charitable person end with a bad death.”
Be assured then, devout reader, that alms-giving in honor of Saint Jude will incline this amiable apostle to succor you in your most hopeless and desperate necessities.
In great affliction one may promise the apostle, in case he will help, to distribute a certain number of these booklets in thanksgiving. This means of spreading devotion to him is, we firmly believe, an effective way of obtaining his help.

O Saint Jude Thaddeus, thou relative of Jesus Christ, thou glorious apostle and martyr, renowned for thy virtues and miracles, faithful and prompt intercessor of all who honor thee and trust in thee! Thou art a powerful patron and helper in grievous afflictions. I come to thee and entreat thee from the depths of my heart, come to my aid with thy powerful intercession, for thou hast received from God the privilege to assist with thy manifest help, those who almost despair of all hope. Look down upon me; my life is a life of crosses, my days are days of tribulation, and my heart is an ocean of bitterness. Divine Providence seems lost to my sight, and faith seems to falter in my heart. Overwhelmed by these thoughts, I see myself surrounded by a dark cloud. Thou canst not forsake me in this sad plight. I will not depart from thee until thou hast heard me. Oh! Hasten to my aid. I will be grateful to thee all my life. I will honor thee as my special patron, I will thank God for the graces bestowed upon thee, and will propagate thy honor according to my power. Amen.
Praise and Thanksgiving
It was revealed to Saint Gertrude that is is a source of great joy to the saints when we, in their stead, praise and thank God for the graces and privileges He has bestowed upon them. The clients of Saint Jude Thaddeus should therefore frequently and devoutly recite the following act of thanksgiving. The good saint will reward them generously.
O most sweet Lord Jesus Christ, in union with the unutterable heavenly praise with which the Most Holy Trinity extols Itself and which thence flows upon Thy Sacred Humanity, upon Mary, upon all the angels and saints, I praise, glorify and bless Thee for all the graces and privileges Thou hast bestowed upon Thy chosen apostle and intimate Friend, Jude Thaddeus. I pray Thee for the sake of his merits, grant me Thy grace, and though his intercession come to my aid in all my needs, but especially at the hour of my death deign to strengthen me against the rage of my enemies. Dear Lord, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, I (we) offer You these prayers in reparation for the sins which offend God the most in these modern times--the sins of BLASPHEMY and the PROFANATION OF SUNDAY and Your Holy Days of Obligation:

THE "GOLDEN ARROW" PRAYER
dictated by Our Lord to Sister Mary of St. Peter
May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most incomprehensible and unutterable Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified, in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar. Amen.
After receiving this prayer, Sister Mary of St. Peter was given a vision in which she saw the Sacred Heart of Jesus delightfully wounded by this "Golden Arrow", as torrents of graces streamed from It far the conversion of sinners.

I salute Thee, I adore Thee and I love Thee, O adorable Face of Jesus, my Beloved, noble Seal of the Divinity! Outraged anew by blasphemers.
