Continuing to Apologize for That Which Is Condemned in Holy Writ and by Nature Itself
There was a time just over twenty-two years ago now when I was driving from Reno, Nevada, where I had been visiting a generous Catholic who funded my "Living in the Shadow of the Cross" and "To Be Catholic from the Womb to the Tomb" lecture programs from September of 2000 to April of 2003, to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to give a lecture there. The drive was long, over a thousand miles. About half of the drive took me through desert roads in the wasteland known as Nevada. It's a drive I never want to make again even though I made great time driving at breakneck speeds during the middle of the night. Let me explain why.
Although I do not get overcome by feelings of oppression on a regular basis, I did have a palpable sense of evil as I drove through the Nevada desert late at night into the early hours of the next morning (and, no, I can't recall the exact dates as there has been some "slippage" of the memory on some details while others are retained unfailingly, at least up until now). The reason for this palpable sense of evil became clear as I saw little red lights stationed at the driveways of "ranches" alongside US-95 and US-93 in those Nevada counties that permit human beings to sell themselves to engage in the commission of various sins against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments. "Wow," I said to myself, this is a mockery of the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament and of His Most Sacred Heart that beats within It."
Red vigil lamps burn near that Real Presence of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the Most Blessed Sacrament, signifying that the One Who redeemed us by the shedding of every single drop of His Most Precious Blood on the wood of the Holy Cross because of His love of His Co-Eternal and Co-Equal Father in Heaven and his love of us awaits our acts of adoration, thanksgiving, reparation and petition as His Most Sacred Heart pulsates radiant beams of that Divine love to warm us in the midst of the chills of this passing world, full of so many problems, many of which, of course, we cause for ourselves, especially by refusing to accept God's will for us in our lives and refusing to embrace the crosses that He sends us, each of which has been perfectly fitted by Him for us from all eternity. Each cross we are given is the means by which we can give honor and glory to the Most Blessed Trinity through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, out of which the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus that beats for us with such love in the tabernacle was formed.
It is thus understandable that the devil would want to mock the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament by having people of bad reputation, shall we say, advertise themselves by means of a red light and that their districts of sin be known as "red light districts." It is also understandable that the devil would want to make the month of June (which ended eleven days ago), the month of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, into a celebration of perverse sins against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments as all manner of lewd, vulgar, obscene, and disgusting spectacles take place in city after city in the United States of America and elsewhere in the so-called "civilized" or "developed" world. Major League Baseball teams have even been holding “pride” nights for at least the past fifteen years, starting with the Philadelphia Phillies and San Diego Padres, that are now annual events held by most of the league’s thirty teams at some point in the month of June, the month of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, and this is to say nothing about how the worlds of education, law, finance, “healthcare,” “entertainment,” and multinational corporations have been preserves of the entire lavender agenda, up to and including ideological brainwashing programs to root out the “haters.”
Unspeakable and unprintable displays and sounds that come straight from Hell always make themselves particularly present in front of the Cathedral of Saint Patrick on the parade route. Thousands of cheering spectators always watch whiles standing on the sidewalks, applauding furiously when reprehensible sins are committed right on Fifth Avenue in front of the Cathedral of Saint Patrick. There are always whistles and drums and visages that are so indecent as to prohibit any further descriptions. It is all straight from Hell, every single bit of it.
Lost in all of this, of course, is the simple fact, as has been noted repeatedly, that true for oneself and for others is act of the will. We will must our own will as we pray Our Lady to send us the graces won for us on the wood of the Holy Cross by the shedding of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood so that we may always remember that true love of self, subordinated to love of the true God as He has revealed Himself to us through His true Church that He founded upon the Rock of Peter, the Pope, requires us to seek what is in accord with the sanctification and salvation of our immortal souls. We do not love ourselves authentically if we commit deliberate Mortal Sins and then compound those offenses by persisting in them unrepentantly and then justifying them to others as we seek their approval for our doing so. We must repent of our sins. We must despise our sins. We must to pray to Our Lady that it is God's Holy Will for us to live enough to make reparation for each and every one of them to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through her own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart so that we can, by remaining in a state of Sanctifying Grace until the moment of our deaths as members of the Catholic Church, avoid Purgatory altogether (or at least minimize our time there). No one loves himself and revels in his own sins or makes light of them in the slightest. No one can love God by doing so. It is that simple. God's truth always is.
How can anyone love God by persisting in and/or reaffirming others in the commission and flaunting of Mortal Sins as it is sin that caused Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to suffer in His Sacred Humanity during His Passion and Death and caused Our Lady to suffer as those Seven Swords of Sorrow pierced her Immaculate Heart?
Can someone say he "loves" another human being by beating him physically or, say, or by killing him? No one can say that He loves God by committing unrepentant Mortal Sins, no less by extolling them publicly.
It is time for Catholics to think as Catholics, not as slobbering sentimentalists filled with the emotionalism of fallen human nature and triumph of naturalism in every aspect of social life.
Similarly, we do not love others if we do or say anything, whether omission or commission, which reaffirms them, no less applaud them, for persisting in a life of unrepentant sin. We are to will the good of others, the ultimate expression of which the salvation of their immortal souls. The salvation of our immortal souls is incompatible with own persistence in sin.
The salvation of our own immortal souls is incompatible with reaffirming anyone in a life of sin or appearing to be casual or indifferent about their sins. It is not a matter of "judgmentalness" or of considering oneself "better" than another fellow sinner to discharge one of the most fundamental works of the Spiritual Works of Mercy: to admonish the sinner. It is not a matter of "lacking compassion" for our fellow human beings to warn them when they are imperiling the eternal fate of their immortal souls and of persisting in sins that not only offend God but also wound their bodies as well as their souls in the process, making them instruments of disordered self-indulgence in the society-at-large.
True, the Spiritual Works of Mercy must be discharged with delicateness and with an understanding of the loss of Sanctifying and Actual Grace in the world that has blinded so many Catholics and non-Catholics alike to such things as the Ten Commandments. Different approaches are used with different people at different times. It is, unless a moment occurs within God's Holy Providence that requires us to speak out, advisable to seek the counsel of a good confessor before doing so. One is never excused, however, from discharging the Spiritual Work of Mercy. How many Catholics today, including those who reject the legitimacy of the conciliar "popes," really understand that we can't teach our children to be indifferent to the fact that people we know are impelling their immortal souls.
Look at all the statists who tell us repeatedly that overweight Americans have to lose weight, that they are a "burden" to the national health-care system. Are these statists, who believe in their "truth" and their own moral superiority with an arrogance that is almost beyond compare, "lacking compassion" for others? Are they "judging them"?
Actually, they are, of course, although they consider themselves to be "enlightened" despots who have a mission to remake the world in their own disordered images and naturalist ideologies. The nanny-state despots believe that they are simply discharging their duties to impart upon others less bodily fit than they are to reform their lives, oblivious to the fact that, as much as an obligation that we do have under the precepts of the Fifth Commandment to take reasonable, prudent care of ourselves while at the same time avoiding sins of intemperance and gluttony without considering the great pleasures of food that the good God has seen fit to give to us as somehow "sinful" if consumed in moderation and with due consideration for what it is commensurate with and proportionate to the duties in our state-of-life, the care the soul matters more than the care of the body.
Many saints punished their bodies brutally by severe fasting and by the most austere sort of living, sleeping on floors instead of beds, subjecting their flesh to mortifications in order to curb its unruly desires by that the higher, rational faculties of the soul to exercise mastery over the temptation to indulge the body and worldly comforts. As the nanny-state despots and envirocommunists who want to "save the planet" as they plunge future generations into oceans of debt that will enslave people for decades to come, if God in His Mercy grants the world that length of time, they care nothing for the welfare of the immortal soul or the fact that there is a God Who judges them at the moment of their deaths. They are pantheists, dirt-worshipers who believe that human beings are the problem on the face of this earth, and that only those who "behave" according to their specifications and dictates, which they seek to impose by means of laws and policies enforced rigorously by the civil state, are fit to participate in the delicate "ecosystem" dance that is "biodiversity." They want us to punish our bodies according to their disordered "lights" purely for purposes of social engineering and envirocommunism as they engage and support the most wanton forms of debauchery the world has seen since the times of the last centuries of the Roman Empire and, given the “advances” in technology and pseudo-science, the debauchery has exceeded anything that the world has ever known heretofore.
Thus it is that so few people in the world, Catholics or non-Catholics, have been aghast at the spectacles that have taken place every June annually as human beings, each of whom has an immortal soul that has been redeemed by the shedding of every single drop of Our Lord's Most Precious Blood on the wood of the Holy Cross and is loved by the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus with an matchless love that wills the sanctification and salvation of the immortal souls if only they would cease their life of sin and approach a true priest in the Sacred Tribunal of Penance to accuse themselves with humility and a firm purpose of amendment, march every year in so-called “pride” parades in which the shame of the shameless is laid bare for all who have the supernatural eyes of the Holy Faith to see.
The marchers, of course are always so filled with pride because of their self-identification on the basis of their voluntary inclination to commit perverse sins against nature that place their immortal souls in utter captivity to the devil and make themselves enemies of Christ the King and the true good of all social order until they convert and repent. Catholics and non-Catholics alike have brainwashed by the ethos of the world and by the Protestant and Judeo-Masonic Novus Ordo liturgical service's accommodation to it that they are incapable of reacting as Catholics to the horror of what is displayed before our very eyes with the full approval of so many naturalists in the Republican and Democratic Parties.
Yes, it would be intellectually dishonest and just outright deceitful to claim that every priest or presbyter or member of the laity in the counterfeit church of conciliarism has lost the sensus Catholicus to such an extent that they are incapable of expressing justifiable public outrage over these offenses against God. This is not the case. Some priests and presbyters in the conciliar structures are very courageous in denouncing the moral evils of our day, although intellectual honesty also compels one to note the fact that these same priests and presbyters fail to denounce the gross sins against the First and Second Commandment committed by the conciliar "popes," including Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, whether out of fear or "obedience" or a simple acceptance of false ecumenism and "inter-religious prayer" services, thus demonstrating that they are oblivious to the simple truth that sins against the Fifth, Sixth and Ninth Commandments are made more possible by sins that have been committed against the honor and glory and majesty of the Most Blessed Trinity by the men they have recognized and sought to obey as legitimate Successors of Saint Peter.
It is also quite true, however, that there is a hypersensitivity to the "gay agenda" in many conciliar circles, starting in the Vatican itself with the "pontificate" of Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonia Maria Montini/Paul VI, who appointed a number of men to the conciliar "hierarchy" in the United States of America, as "bishops" who were practitioners of perversity, sometimes having been exposed publicly by those they abused, or were, at the very least, very supportive of perversity as they sought to recruit like-minded men into the conciliar presbyterate. Many of those men were later promoted up the conciliar food chain to be "bishops" themselves, something that not even that “Saint” John Paul II, sought to curb. Indeed, he aided and abetted these men, including the wicked founder of the Legionaries of Christ, the late Father Marcial Maciel Degollado. Joseph Ratzinger was, both as a conciliar "cardinal" and as "Pope" Benedict XVI, very sympathetic to men with checkered records as supporters of perversity. After all, who appointed George Niederauer as "archbishop" of San Francisco upon the recommendation of his own hand-picked successor as the prefect of conciliar Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith? It wasn't the tooth fairy.
No conciliar “pope,” however, has been more supportive of the homosexual collective than has been Jorge Mario Bergoglio, whose words and deeds have given the “green light” to conciliar “bishops,” priests, and presbyters to extending warm, welcoming embraces to those who identify themselves as active practitioners of and/or inclined to the commission of perverse sins against nature that cry out to Heaven for vengeance. All in the name of a false “mercy” that Bergoglio says is the working of the “Holy Spirit” but is actually a reaffirmation of sinners in their lives of perversity in direct defiance of nature itself and of the very words found in Sacred Scripture, which was written under the direct and inspiration of the Third Person of the Most Blessed Trinity, God the Holy Ghost, Who is immutable and cannot contradict Himself, thus making appeals to a false concept of “mercy” in His Holy Name both blasphemous and heretical.
Emboldened by Jorge Mario Bergoglio’s affirmations of hardened sinners in their lives of abject perversity, one conciliar “bishop” after another has come out of the closet, so to speak, to announce their full-throated support of sodomy and its seemingly never-ending mutations as expressions of “love” fully consonant with the Holy Gospel of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
One of the most lavender-friendly “bishops” within the ranks of the counterfeit church of conciliarism is John Stowe, who serves as the chieftain of the conciliar sect in the Diocese of Kentucky, and it was within his diocese that a “service of atonement and apology to the LGBTQ+ community” was held on Thursday, June 30, 2022, the Commemoration of Saint Paul within the Octaves of Saints Peter and Paul and of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist:
A Catholic church in Kentucky held what it called a "Service of Atonement and Apology to the LGBTQ+ Community" on Thursday night – the final night of Pride Month.
Saint Paul Catholic Church in Lexington posted a copy of the program to its Facebook page saying the service was an apology to the community for "the Church's lack of respect, compassion, and sensitivity and for unjust discrimination."
The service was led by the church's director of Catholic LGBTQ+ ministry. In a letter titled "Apologies and Reconciliation," the director wrote: "The words the Church uses to describe me still sting, but I believe we are witnessing the evolution of doctrine, so I have hope. I know many LGBTQ+ persons – far too many – have been hurt by the Church and many have left. So have their families and friends. LGBTQ+ persons left with good reason: to survive. Apologies aren't coveralls for the past wounds, but they are a beginning."
During the "Call to Prayer" portion of the service, the director said: "We gather to celebrate our unique diversity that has not always been celebrated, not always held sacred. We gather to seek reconciliation for the hurtful words and actions of the Church toward LGBTQ+ siblings and their families and friends."
In another prayer, the service called for parishioners to "build a just society and church, for LGBTQ people" and called for their actions to always "include rather than exclude."
The prayer went on to call on God to make parishioners "disruptors of the status quo" and "disruptors of stereotypes, philosophies, or would-be-theologies, that do not consider every person as equal and worthy of dignity." (Kentucky Catholic church holds ‘Service of Apology to the LGBTQ+ Community’ .)
To leave people in their states of sin is an abominable offense against the true God of Divine Revelation, the Most Holy Trinity.
Moreover, to celebrate objectively grave sins, each of which caused Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to suffer and die as He shed every single drop of His Most Precious Blood to redeem us during His Passion and Death on the wood of the Holy Cross on Good Friday, is to make a mockery of the following words of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Who, while having compassion for erring sinners, nevertheless called sinners to repentance and conversion:
But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea. [7] Woe to the world because of scandals. For it must needs be that scandals come: but nevertheless woe to that man by whom the scandal cometh. [8] And if thy hand, or thy foot scandalize thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee. It is better for thee to go into life maimed or lame, than having two hands or two feet, to be cast into everlasting fire. [9] And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee. It is better for thee having one eye to enter into life, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. [10] See that you despise not one of these little ones: for I say to you, that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. (Matthew 18: 6-10.)
And Jesus went unto mount Olivet. [2] And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and sitting down he taught them. [3] And the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman taken in adultery: and they set her in the midst, [4] And said to him: Master, this woman was even now taken in adultery. [5] Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such a one. But what sayest thou?
[6] And this they said tempting him, that they might accuse him. But Jesus bowing himself down, wrote with his finger on the ground. [7] When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. [8] And again stooping down, he wrote on the ground. [9] But they hearing this, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, and the woman standing in the midst. [10] Then Jesus lifting up himself, said to her: Woman, where are they that accused thee? Hath no man condemned thee?
[11] Who said: No man, Lord. And Jesus said: Neither will I condemn thee. Go, and now sin no more. (John 8: 1-10.)
Our Blessed Lord and Saviour seeks the conversion of sinners.
The lords of conciliarism seek to reaffirm them as their concept of Our Lord’s “mercy” is precisely that which was condemned by Pope Saint Pius X when in his encyclical letter on the Sillon, Notre Charge Apostolique, August 15, 1910:
Further, whilst Jesus was kind to sinners and to those who went astray, He did not respect their false ideas, however sincere they might have appeared. He loved them all, but He instructed them in order to convert them and save them. Whilst He called to Himself in order to comfort them, those who toiled and suffered, it was not to preach to them the jealousy of a chimerical equality. Whilst He lifted up the lowly, it was not to instill in them the sentiment of a dignity independent from, and rebellious against, the duty of obedience. Whilst His heart overflowed with gentleness for the souls of good-will, He could also arm Himself with holy indignation against the profaners of the House of God, against the wretched men who scandalized the little ones, against the authorities who crush the people with the weight of heavy burdens without putting out a hand to lift them. He was as strong as he was gentle. He reproved, threatened, chastised, knowing, and teaching us that fear is the beginning of wisdom, and that it is sometimes proper for a man to cut off an offending limb to save his body. Finally, He did not announce for future society the reign of an ideal happiness from which suffering would be banished; but, by His lessons and by His example, He traced the path of the happiness which is possible on earth and of the perfect happiness in heaven: the royal way of the Cross. These are teachings that it would be wrong to apply only to one's personal life in order to win eternal salvation; these are eminently social teachings, and they show in Our Lord Jesus Christ something quite different from an inconsistent and impotent humanitarianism. (Pope Saint Pius X, Notre Charge Apostolique, August 15, 1910.)
It was in defense of the truth about Our Lord and His Holy Doctrine that Pope Saint Pius X clearly explicated the Divine Redeemer’s approach toward sin and error:
Catholicism is clear. Heresy and error demand complexity and paradox. This is why the conciliar revolutionaries recoil at the clarity of Saint Paul the Apostle’s Second Epistle to the Timothy:
[1] I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom: [2] Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine. [3] For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: [4] And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables. [5] But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. Be sober. (2 Timothy 1: 1-5.)
Behold the false teachers who have upon us. Their numbers are legion, starting with Jorge Mario Bergoglio, a true son of the conciliar revolution, and among whose numbers are to be counted the likes of each member of this false "pope's" "Council of Cardinals, including, of course, the notorious Reinhard Marx. The endless reaffirmation of hardened sinners in their sins stands in diametrical opposition to the examples of countless Catholic bishops and priests, many of them raised to the altars of Holy Mother Church, who worked to reform the morals of the people who had been entrusted to their pastoral care.
One of the false teachers who spoke at Saint Paul Catholic Church spoke openly and proudly, to coin a term, about an ontological impossibility that has been condemned as such by our true popes, the “evolution of doctrine,” but embraced with ready abandon by the conciliar revolutionaries. Here is what our true popes, guided as they were by God the Holy Ghost, taught concerning the evolution of doctrine:
For the doctrine of the faith which God has revealed is put forward not as some philosophical discovery capable of being perfected by human intelligence, but as a divine deposit committed to the spouse of Christ to be faithfully protected and infallibly promulgated.
Hence, too, that meaning of the sacred dogmas is ever to be maintained which has once been declared by holy mother church, and there must never be any abandonment of this sense under the pretext or in the name of a more profound understanding.
God cannot deny himself, nor can truth ever be in opposition to truth.
The appearance of this kind of specious contradiction is chiefly due to the fact that either: the dogmas of faith are not understood and explained in accordance with the mind of the church, or unsound views are mistaken for the conclusions of reason.
Therefore we define that every assertion contrary to the truth of enlightened faith is totally false. . . .
3. If anyone says that it is possible that at some time, given the advancement of knowledge, a sense may be assigned to the dogmas propounded by the church which is different from that which the church has understood and understands: let him be anathema.
And so in the performance of our supreme pastoral office, we beseech for the love of Jesus Christ and we command, by the authority of him who is also our God and saviour, all faithful Christians, especially those in authority or who have the duty of teaching, that they contribute their zeal and labour to the warding off and elimination of these errors from the church and to the spreading of the light of the pure faith.
But since it is not enough to avoid the contamination of heresy unless those errors are carefully shunned which approach it in greater or less degree, we warn all of their duty to observe the constitutions and decrees in which such wrong opinions, though not expressly mentioned in this document, have been banned and forbidden by this holy see. (Pope Pius IX, Vatican Council, Session III, Dogmatic Constitution on the Catholic Faith, Chapter 4, On Faith and Reason, April 24, 1870. SESSION 3 : 24 April 1870.)
Let Jorge Mario Begoglio be anthema as he and his false beliefs were anthematized over sixty-six and one-half years prior to his birth on December 19, 1976.
Pope Saint Pius X reiterated this anthematization of Bergoglio's belief in Pascendi Dominci Gregis, September 8, 1907:
Hence it is quite impossible [the Modernists assert] to maintain that they [dogmatic statements] absolutely contain the truth: for, in so far as they are symbols, they are the images of truth, and so must be adapted to the religious sense in its relation to man; and as instruments, they are the vehicles of truth, and must therefore in their turn be adapted to man in his relation to the religious sense. But the object of the religious sense, as something contained in the absolute, possesses an infinite variety of aspects, of which now one, now another, may present itself. In like manner he who believes can avail himself of varying conditions. Consequently, the formulas which we call dogma must be subject to these vicissitudes, and are, therefore, liable to change. Thus the way is open to the intrinsic evolution of dogma. Here we have an immense structure of sophisms which ruin and wreck all religion.
It is thus, Venerable Brethren, that for the Modernists, whether as authors or propagandists, there is to be nothing stable, nothing immutable in the Church. Nor, indeed, are they without forerunners in their doctrines, for it was of these that Our predecessor Pius IX wrote: 'These enemies of divine revelation extol human progress to the skies, and with rash and sacrilegious daring would have it introduced into the Catholic religion as if this religion were not the work of God but of man, or some kind of philosophical discovery susceptible of perfection by human efforts.' On the subject of revelation and dogma in particular, the doctrine of the Modernists offers nothing new. We find it condemned in the Syllabus of Pius IX, where it is enunciated in these terms: ''Divine revelation is imperfect, and therefore subject to continual and indefinite progress, corresponding with the progress of human reason'; and condemned still more solemnly in the Vatican Council: ''The doctrine of the faith which God has revealed has not been proposed to human intelligences to be perfected by them as if it were a philosophical system, but as a divine deposit entrusted to the Spouse of Christ to be faithfully guarded and infallibly interpreted. Hence also that sense of the sacred dogmas is to be perpetually retained which our Holy Mother the Church has once declared, nor is this sense ever to be abandoned on plea or pretext of a more profound comprehension of the truth.' Nor is the development of our knowledge, even concerning the faith, barred by this pronouncement; on the contrary, it is supported and maintained. For the same Council continues: 'Let intelligence and science and wisdom, therefore, increase and progress abundantly and vigorously in individuals, and in the mass, in the believer and in the whole Church, throughout the ages and the centuries -- but only in its own kind, that is, according to the same dogma, the same sense, the same acceptation.' (Pope Saint Pius X, Pascendi Dominci Gregis, September 8, 1907.)
I hold with certainty and I sincerely confess that faith is not a blind inclination of religion welling up from the depth of the subconscious under the impulse of the heart and the inclination of a morally conditioned will, but is the genuine assent of the intellect to a truth that is received from outside by hearing. In this assent, given on the authority of the all-truthful God, we hold to be true what has been said, attested to, and revealed, by the personal God, our creator and Lord.” (Pope Saint Pius X, The Oath Against Modernism, September 1, 1910.)
“Some hold that the mysteries of faith are never expressed by truly adequate concepts but only by approximate and ever changeable notions, in which the truth is to some extent expressed, but is necessarily distorted. Wherefore they do not consider it absurd, but altogether necessary, that theology should substitute new concepts in place of the old ones in keeping with the various philosophies which in the course of time it uses as its instruments, so that it should give human expression to divine truths in various ways which are even somewhat opposed, but still equivalent, as they say. […] It is evident from what We have already said, that such efforts not only lead to what they call dogmatic relativism, but that they actually contain it.” (Pope Pius XII, Humani Generis, August 12, 1950.)
There is no such thing as “evolution of doctrine” any more than there is a “homosexual” person except in the warped minds of Modernists and moral relativists who want to do the precise opposite of that God the Holy Ghost has instructed us in Sacred Scripture:
I have cried to thee, O Lord, hear me: hearken to my voice, when I cry to thee. [2] Let my prayer be directed as incense in thy sight; the lifting up of my hands, as evening sacrifice. [3] Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth: and a door round about my lips. [4] Incline not my heart to evil words; to make excuses in sins. With men that work iniquity: and I will not communicate with the choicest of them. [5] The just shall correct me in mercy, and shall reprove me: but let not the oil of the sinner fatten my head. For my prayer also shall still be against the things with which they are well pleased: (Psalm 140: 1-5.)
Events such as the one that took place at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Lexington, Kentucky, on June 30, 2022, are premised upon the diabolically inspired deception that there is no such thing as objectively grave sins and that it is an act of cruelty to tell one steeped in unrepentant sins of perversity that his acts are offensive to God, injurious, if not deadly, to his own salvation if not confessed and absolved by a true priest before he died, and destructive of social order.
Indeed, a presbyter within the Diocese of Lexington named James Sickho has stated publicly that to correct a sinner is to cast stones at him and thus deny him of his “dignity” even though the Spiritual Works of Mercy require us to do so, noting that how this is done is dependent upon a variety of subjective considerations without for one moment lessening the need to do so, whether in person or by means of a letter of correction with the expressed desire of saving a fellow sinner’s immortal soul.
While God alone is the sole Judge of the subjective state of souls, He gave us the sensus fidei when we were baptized in order to be able to recognize sin for what it is and thus to amend our own lives when are tempted to sin or find ourselves in the near occasion of sin. This sensus fidei also provides us with the ability to perform the Spiritual Works of Mercy, which includes, of course, admonishing the sinner. “Pope Francis” and his many of his “bishops” do not believe this. Indeed, they condemn those who do.
How is this not apostasy?
Catholics believe in the Spiritual Works of Mercy:
- To instruct the ignorant.
- To counsel the doubtful.
- To admonish sinners.
- To bear wrongs patiently;
- To forgive offences willingly;
- To comfort the afflicted;
- To pray for the living and the dead.
Quite instead, however, the lords of conciliarism do all manner of intellectual gymnastics to prove that they condemn no one’s behavior or beliefs except the behavior and beliefs of Catholics who make no concessions to the ecclesiastical, ecclesiological, canonical, Scriptural, moral, liturgical, and pastoral doctrines and practices their false religious sect, choosing quite deliberately to reaffirm sinners in their sins and thus become accessories in the sins of others whether or not they realize it or care to know and about it:
- 1. By counsel.
- 2. By command.
- 3. By consent.
- 4. By provocation.
- 5. By praise or flattery of the evil done.
- 6. By silence.
- 7. By connivance.

Conciliarism is by its very false nature uncharitable as it makes a mockery of the authentic, immutable teaching that Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by making it appear that it is somehow opposed to tenderness and mercy to follow to do admonish the sinner and instruct the ignorant. The lords of conciliarism are content to leave sinners in their sins to the point of their deaths in the name of a false “mercy” and “accompaniment” that will condemn themselves as accessories to, if not accomplices in, sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance.
A physician does not "judge" anyone if he warns him what might happen if he does not stop engaging in a certain course of behavior that is deleterious to his bodily health.
Similarly, one who warns another about the state of his soul as he persists in a life of unrepentant sin is simply performing a fundamental Spiritual Work of Mercy, and those who are inclined to and/or steeped in perverse sins against nature are not to be left without being remonstrated as this is a duty of a Catholic before God and to the eternal and temporal good of the sinner.
It is one thing to sin and to be sorry and then to seek out the mercy of the Divine Redeemer in the Sacred Tribunal of Penance. It is quite another to persist in sin, no less perverse sins against nature, unrepentantly and to expect others to reaffirm him in those sins, whether explicitly by words of approval or implicitly by silence, which betokens consent. Catholics must judge the states of their own souls every night in their Examen of Conscience, and they have a duty to help others to recognize the serious states of sin into which they have plunged themselves, praying beforehand to God the Holy Ghost to fill them with wisdom and prudence so as to provide a warning in such a way that could plant a seed to get an unrepentant sinner to a true priest in the Sacred Tribunal of Penance.
According to those who seek to apologize for Holy Mother Church’s fidelity to the Sacred Deposit of Faith and as the authoritative teacher of that is contained in the Natural Law, we are to ignore the plain words of Sacred Scripture and to believe that the “spirit” is directing what is thought to be the Catholic Church away from what is knowable by reason alone so that men can be reaffirmed in living in defiance of the very words found in Sacred Scripture:
[13] If any one lie with a man as with a woman, both have committed an abomination, let them be put to death: their blood be upon them. [14] If any man after marrying the daughter, marry her mother, he hath done a heinous crime: he shall be burnt alive with them: neither shall so great an abomination remain in the midst of you. [15] He that shall copulate with any beast or cattle, dying let him die, the beast also ye shall kill. (Leviticus 20: 13-15.)
And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide till you go thence. And when you come into the house, salute it, saying: Peace be to this house. And if that house be worthy, your peace shall come upon it; but if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words: going forth out of that house or city shake off the dust from your feet. Amen I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city. (Matthew 10: 11-15.)
For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error. And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers, Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy. Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them. (Romans 1: 18-32.)
[9] Know you not that the unjust shall not possess the kingdom of God? Do not err: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, [10] Nor the effeminate, nor liers with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor railers, nor extortioners, shall possess the kingdom of God. (1 Cor. 6: 9)
[6] And the angels who kept not their principality, but forsook their own habitation, he hath reserved under darkness in everlasting chains, unto the judgment of the great day. [7] As Sodom and Gomorrha, and the neighbouring cities, in like manner, having given themselves to fornication, and going after other flesh, were made an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire. [8] In like manner these men also defile the flesh, and despise dominion, and blaspheme majesty. [9] When Michael the archangel, disputing with the devil, contended about the body of Moses, he durst not bring against him the judgment of railing speech, but said: The Lord command thee. [10] But these men blaspheme whatever things they know not: and what things soever they naturally know, like dumb beasts, in these they are corrupted. (Jude 1 6-10.)
Yes, it is the rejection of these plain words, each of which was written under the direct inspiration of the Third Person of the Most Blessed Trinity, God the Holy Ghost, that leads to events such as the one that took place at Saint Paul Catholic Church in Lexington, Kentucky, on June 30, 2022, and to the rise of “papal” “missionaries of mercy” who do their antipope’s bidding in heroizing that which is sinful and make that which is shameful a thing of pride while condemning as “judgmental” and “uncharitable” those who truly love God, try to keep His Commandments despite their own sins, and truly love the souls of others by exhorting them in all charity to amend their lives today, not tomorrow, according to the lesson provided us by Saint Alphonsus de Liguori:
O folly of sinners! If you purchase a house, you spare no pains to get all the securities necessary to guard against the loss of your money; if you take medicine, you are careful to assure yourself that it cannot injure you; if you pass over a river, you cautiously avoid all danger of falling into it; and for a transitory enjoyment, for the gratification of revenge, for a beastly pleasure, which lasts but a moment, you risk your eternal salvation, saying: "I will go to confession after I commit this sin." And when, I ask, are you to go to confession? You say: “On tomorrow." But who promises you tomorrow? Who assures you that you shall have time for confession, and that God will not deprive you of life, as he has deprived so many others, in the act of sin? “Diem tenes,” says St. Augustine, “qui horam non tenes.” You cannot be certain of living for another hour, and you say: “I will go to confession tomorrow.” Listen to the words of St. Gregory: “He who has promised pardon to penitents, has not promised tomorrow to sinners.” (Hom. xii. in Evan). God has promised pardon to all who repent; but he has not promised to wait till tomorrow for those who insult him. Perhaps God will give you time for repentance, perhaps he will not. But, should he not give it, what shall become of your soul? In the meantime, for the sake of a miserable pleasure, you lose the grace of God, and expose yourself to the danger of being lost for ever.
9. Would you, for such transient enjoyments, risk your money, your honour, your possessions, your liberty, and your life? No, you would not. How then does it happen that, for a miserable gratification, you lose your soul, heaven, and God? Tell me: do you believe that heaven, hell, eternity, are truths of faith? Do you believe that, if you die in sin, you are lost for ever? Oh! what temerity, what folly is it, to condemn yourself voluntarily to an eternity of torments with the hope of afterwards reversing the sentence of your condemnation! "Nemo," says St. Augustine, “sub spe salutis vultæ grotare.” No one can be found so foolish as to take poison with the hope of preventing its deadly effects by adopting the ordinary remedies. And you will condemn yourself to hell, saying that you expect to be afterwards preserved from it. Folly! which, in conformity with the divine threats, has brought, and brings every day, so many to hell. “Thou hast trusted in thy wickedness, and evil shall come upon thee, and thou shalt not know the rising thereof.” (Isa. xlvii. 10, 11.) You have sinned, trusting rashly in the divine mercy: the punishment of your guilt shall fall suddenly upon you, and you shall not know from whence it comes. What do you say? What resolution do you make? If, after this sermon, you do not firmly resolve to give yourself to God, I weep over you, and regard you as lost. ("On The Number of Sins Beyond Which God Will Not Forgive: Sermon for the First Sunday of Lent," as found in Saint Alphonsus de Liguori, The Sermons of Saint Alphonsus Liguori For All the Sundays of the Year, republished by TAN Books and Publishers in 1982.)
Saint Alphonsus de Liguori addressed his sermon to Catholics who attended Holy Mass. Those who lived during the years of his priesthood in the Eighteenth Century were well-instructed in the Catholic Faith, which is why the great bishop and doctor could ask, “Tell me: do you believe that heaven, hell, eternity, are truths of faith? Do you believe that, if you die in sin, you are lost for ever?” It is pretty difficult for non-practicing Catholics in the conciliar structures who have committed themselves to lives of unrepentant sin to answer Saint Alphonsus’s question in the affirmative when men such as Jorge Mario Bergoglio, John Stowe, James Martin, James Sickho, and almost all the conciliar “bishops” within the Federal Republic of Germany tell them that the path to Heaven is wide open for them as they, the conciliar revolutionaries, tickle their ears with a concept of false mercy and invoking openly the Modernist principle of dogmatic evolution.
Although readers of this site know these things, I am sure that some readers have relatives and friends who are more open now to considering commentaries such as this one. Truth resonates. The truths contained in the writings from and about Saint Anthony Mary Claret, Saint Alphonsus de Liguori, and Saint Leonard of Port Maurice, to say nothing of the prophetic witness given by Saint Francis Solano here in the Americas, will resonate anew in the souls of those who are open to accept the fact that the Catholic Church cannot be the author of heresy or error and that men who promote heresy and error cannot hold ecclesiastical office legitimately within her.
Here is what Pope Pius XI noted in Casti Connubii, December 31, 1930, about “new species of unions" that are looked upon by Jorge Mario Bergoglio his “papal missionaries of mercy” such as the aforementioned “Father James Sicko believe are indictive of “many types of families, homosexual and heterosexual”:
Armed with these principles, some men go so far as to concoct new species of unions, suited, as they say, to the present temper of men and the times, which various new forms of matrimony they presume to label "temporary," "experimental," and "companionate." These offer all the indulgence of matrimony and its rights without, however, the indissoluble bond, and without offspring, unless later the parties alter their cohabitation into a matrimony in the full sense of the law.
Indeed there are some who desire and insist that these practices be legitimatized by the law or, at least, excused by their general acceptance among the people. They do not seem even to suspect that these proposals partake of nothing of the modern "culture" in which they glory so much, but are simply hateful abominations which beyond all question reduce our truly cultured nations to the barbarous standards of savage peoples. (Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii, December 31, 1930.)
Pope Pius XI referred to the new species of unions ninety and one-half years ago as "hateful abominations." Bergoglio believes them to contain "elements of true love." This is because Pope Pius XI was a true pope. Jorge Mario Bergoglio is not. He is an apostate as no one who truly loves God and has the eternal good of the souls for which Our Lord shed every drop of His Most Precious Blood to redeem possesseth the Catholic Faith. A “pope” who reaffirms sinners in their lives of perversity and who stands by silently as his “papal missionaries of mercy” speak about many types of families is no pope at all. It is the utmost height of stupidity to claim that something enjoys God’s favor merely because it exists. Neither the passage of time nor the general acceptance of that which is opposed to the plain words of God and of nature itself can ever make legitimate and pleasing that which is illegitimate and ugly.
The Catholic Church is the spotless, mystical bride of her Divine Founder, Invisible Head, and Mystical Spouse, which enjoys a perpetual immunity from error and heresy. She has nothing to ask “forgiveness” for as all she has done through the centuries to give voice to the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law that Our Lord has entrusted unto her for their eternal safekeeping and infallibly authoritative explication, and she has done so in fidelity to her Divine Founder, Invisible Head and Mystical Bridegroom for His own honor and glory and for the sanctification and salvation of souls for which, He, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, died to redeem.
Ever the revolutionary, Jorge Mario Bergoglio long ago adopted the language of the homosexual collective, whose members are filled with bitter anger and hatred at anyone who dares to criticize their "lifestyles" as they are, whether or not they realize it, in rebellion against the very nature that God has implanted within them and have thus done what all revolutionaries do to justify themselves before men: to do violence to language in order to cloud supernatural and natural truth with a fog of irrationality and sentimentality.
It is shameful that one conciliar official after another has adopted this language, thereby conceding that one can identify himself on the basis of the inclination to and/or the commission of perverse sins against nature and the Sixth and Ninth Commandments and that civil society and must treat such self-identification as a legitimate basis for social interaction and legal protection under various "civil rights" statutes and ordinances.
Then again, obviously, many conciliar officials, not a few of them afflicted with perversity themselves, have gone of their way created, fostered, and promote a culture that has sustained and propagated the entire agenda of homosexual collective, including "marriage" and, quite importantly, persecuting anyone who criticizes sodomy for what it is. There has been the systematic recruitment, retention and promotion of homosexuals through the nooks and crannies of the conciliar structures, including its hierarchy, such as it is, and within parishes, schools, universities, colleges, seminaries, professional schools, religious houses and houses of so-called "spiritual formation." I suggest that those who have any doubt about this fact should consider the massive amount of documented evidence that Mrs. Randy Engel amassed in The Rite of Sodomy, which has an entire chapter devoted to the horrors of "New Ways Ministry," welcomed as it is at this time by the conciliar revolutionaries in the Vatican itself.
Thus it is that the counterfeit church of concilairism, reflecting its "openness to the world" and its falsehoods, has bought into the ideology of the homosexual collective by building it into programs that are taught to presbyters, teachers and children, doing so with an special application to "touching" and expressions of "affection" when the problem of clergy abuse that has exploded into full public view in the past twelve years now has been caused by the creation of an entire environment that is friendly to perversity. Jorge Mario Bergoglio/Francis is simply saying, therefore, what he has been conditioned to say by the whole rotten ambiance of conciliarism. He is a creature of error and licentiousness, believing that the only "sins" one can commit revovle around being "rigid" in one's "positions" and to be "clear-cut" in one's thinking about truth and heresy, moral right and moral wrong.
Our true popes condemned heresy and error. They condemned moral wrong for what it is without any "nuancing" of issues.
So have our saints, including Saint Peter Damian and Pope Leo IX.
Saint Peter Damian's Book of Gommorha explained the detestable nature of the sin of Sodom, something that Mrs. Engel made clear in The Rite of Sodomy:
According to Damian, the vice of sodomy "surpasses the enormity of all others," because:
"Without fail, it brings death to the body and destruction to the soul. It pollutes the flesh, extinguishes the light of the mind, expels the Holy Spirit from the temple of the human heart, and gives entrance to the devil, the stimulator of lust. It leads to error, totally removes truth from the deluded mind ... It opens up hell and closes the gates of paradise ... It is this vice that violates temperance, slays modesty, strangles chastity, and slaughters virginity ... It defiles all things, sullies all things, pollutes all things ... This vice excludes a man from the assembled choir of the Church ... it separates the soul from God to associate it with demons. This utterly diseased queen of Sodom renders him who obeys the laws of her tyranny infamous to men and odious to God... She strips her knights of the armor of virtue, exposing them to be pierced by the spears of every vice ... She humiliates her slave in the church and condemns him in court; she defiles him in secret and dishonors him in public; she gnaws at his conscience like a worm and consumes his flesh like fire. ... this unfortunate man (he) is deprived of all moral sense, his memory fails, and the mind's vision is darkened. Unmindful of God, he also forgets his own identity. This disease erodes the foundation of faith, saps the vitality of hope, dissolves the bond of love. It makes way with justice, demolishes fortitude, removes temperance, and blunts the edge of prudence. Shall I say more?"
No, dearest St. Peter Damian, I think not.
Like every saint before him, and every saint that will ever come after him, St. Peter Damian exhorts the cleric caught in the vice of sodomy to repent and reform his life and in the words of the Blessed Apostle Paul, "Wake up from your sleep and rise from the dead, and Christ will revive (enlighten) you." (Eph 5:14) In a remarkable affirmation of the Gospel message, he warns against the ultimate sin of despairing of God's mercy and the necessity of fasting and prayer to subdue the passions:
"... beware of drowning in the depths of despondency. Your heart should beat with confidence in God's love and not grow hard and impenitent, in the face of your great crime. It is not sinners, but the wicked who should despair; it is not the magnitude of one's crime, but contempt of God that dashes one's hopes."
Then, in one of the most beautiful elocutions on the grandeur of priestly celibacy and chastity ever written, Damian reminds the wayward cleric or monk of the special place reserved in Heaven for those faithful priests and monks who have willingly forsaken all and made themselves eunuchs for Christ's sake. Their names shall be remembered forever because they have given up all for the love of God, he says.
One of the very interesting historical sidebars to Damian's treatise is that he made no preference to the popular practice of distinguishing "notorious" from "non-notorious" cases of clerical immorality--a policy which can be traced back to the 9th century and the canonical reforms on ecclesiastical and clerical discipline by the great German Benedictine scholar and Archbishop of Mainz, Blessed Maurus Magnentius Rabanus (776?-856). Under this policy, the removal of clerics found guilty of criminal acts including sodomy, depended on whether or not his offense was publicly known, or was carried out and confessed in secret.
In cases that had become "notorious," the offending cleric was defrocked and/or handed over to the secular authorities for punishment. But if his crime was known only to a few persons such as his confessor or religious superior, the offending cleric was privately reprimanded, served a penance and then was permitted to continue at his post, or transferred to a similar post in a different diocese. Given the aggressive and predatory nature of the vice of sodomy, it is highly likely that such a policy contributed to, rather than inhibited, sodomical practices among clerics and religious between the mid-800s and the early 1000s. In any case, it was unlikely that Damian, who openly expressed his condemnation of too lenient canonical regulations related to the punishment of clerical sodomites and was so judicious in preserving the integrity of the priesthood and religious life, would have approved such a policy.
Saints are realists, which is no doubt why St. Peter Damian anticipated that his "small book" which exposes and denounces homosexual practices in all ranks of the clergy including the hierarchy, would cause a great commotion in the Church. And it did.
In anticipation of harsh criticism, the holy monk puts forth his own defense as a 'whistle-blower'. He states that his would-be critics will accuse him of "being an informer and a delator of my brother's crimes," but, he says, he has no fear of either "the hatred of evil men or the tongues of detractors."
Hear, dear reader, the words of St. Peter Damian that come thundering down to us through the centuries at a time in the Church when many shepherds are silent while clerical wolves, some disguised in miters and brocade robes, devour its lambs and commit sacrilege against their own spiritual sons:
"... I would surely prefer to be thrown into the well like Joseph who informed his father of his brothers' foul crime, than to suffer the penalty of God's fury, like Eli, who saw the wickedness of his sons and remained silent. (Sam 2:4) ... Who am I, when I see this pestilential practice flourishing in the priesthood to become the murderer of another's soul by daring to repress my criticism in expectation of the reckoning of God's judgement? ... How, indeed, am I to love my neighbor as myself if I negligently allow the wound, of which I am sure he will brutally die, to fester in his heart? ... "So let no man condemn me as I argue against this deadly vice, for I seek not to dishonor, but rather to promote the advantage of my brother's well-being. "Take care not to appear partial to the delinquent while you persecute him who sets him straight. If I may be pardoned in using Moses' words, 'Whoever is for the Lord, let him stand with me.' (Ezek 32:26)"
As he draws his case against the vice of clerical sodomy to a close, St. Peter Damian pleads with another future saint, Pope Leo IX, urging the Vicar of Christ to use his office to reform and strengthen the decrees of the sacred canons with regard to the disposition of clerical sodomites including religious superiors and bishops who sexually violate their spiritual sons.
Damian asks the Holy Father to "diligently" investigate the four forms of the vice of sodomy cited at the beginning of his treatise and then provides him (Damian) with definitive answers to the following questions by which the "darkness of uncertainty" might be dispelled and an "indecisive conscience" freed from error:
1) Is one who is guilty of these crimes to be expelled irrevocably from holy orders?
2) Whether at a prelate's discretion, moreover, one might mercifully be allowed to function in office?
3) To what extent, both in respect to the methods mentioned above and to the number of lapses, is it permissible to retain a man in the dignity of ecclesiastical office?
4) Also, if one is guilty, what degree and what frequency of guilt should compel him under the circumstances to retire?
Damian closes his famous letter by asking Almighty God to use Pope Leo IX's pontificate "to utterly destroy this monstrous vice" that a prostrate Church may everywhere rise to vigorous stature." (Mrs. Randy Engel, The Rite of Sodomy, pp. 53-55)
Does Jorge Mario Bergoglio want to destroy this monstrous vice?
Hardly.
By contrast, consider how Pope Leo IX responded to the report presented to him by Saint Peter Damian:
The approximate date that Damian delivered the Book of Gomorrah to Pope Leo IX is generally held to be the second half of the first year of the pontiff's reign, i.e., mid-1049, although some writers put the date as late as 1051. We do know, absolutely, that the Pope did respond to Damian's concerns, as that response in the form of a lengthy letter (JL 4311; It Pont 4.94f., no.2) is generally attached to manuscripts of the work.
Pope Leo IX opens his letter to "his beloved son in Christ, Peter the hermit," with warm salutations and a recognition of Damian's pure, upright and zealous character. He agrees with Damian that clerics, caught up in the "execrable vice" of sodomy "verily and most assuredly will have no share in his inheritance, from which by their voluptuous pleasures they have withdrawn. " Such clerics, indeed profess, if not in words, at least by the evidence of their actions, that they are not what they are thought to be," he declares.
Reiterating the category of the four forms of sodomy that Damian lists, [59] the Holy Father declares that it is proper that by "our apostolic authority" we intervene in the matter so that "all anxiety and doubt be removed from the minds of your readers".
"So let it be certain and evident to all that we are in agreement with everything your book contains, opposed as it is like water to the fire of the devil," the Pope continues. "Therefore, lest the wantonness of this foul impurity be allowed to spread unpunished, it must be repelled by proper repressive action of apostolic severity, and yet some moderation must be placed on its harshness," he states.
Next, Pope Leo IX gives a detailed explanation of the Holy See's authoritative ruling on the matter.
In light of divine mercy, the Holy Father commands, without contradiction, that those who, of their own free will, have practiced solitary or mutual masturbation or defiled themselves by interfemoral coitus, but who have not done so for any length of time, nor with many others, shall retain their status, after having "curbed their desires" and "atoned for their infamous deeds with proper repentance".
However, the Holy See removes all hope for retaining their clerical status from those who alone or with others for a long time, or even a short period with many, "have defiled themselves by either of the two kinds of filthiness which you have described, or, which is horrible to hear or speak of, have sunk to the level of anal intercourse."
He warns potential critics, that those who dare to criticize or attack the apostolic ruling stand in danger of losing their rank. And so as to make it clear to whom this warning is directed, the Pope immediately adds, "For he who does not attack vice, but deals with it lightly, is rightly judged to be guilty of his death, along with the one who dies in sin."
Pope Leo IX praises Damian for teaching by example and not mere words, and concludes his letter with the beautiful hope that when, with God's help, the monk reaches his heavenly abode, he may reap his rewards and be crowned, "Ö in a sense, with all those who were snatched by you from the snares of the devil."
Clearly, on the objective immorality of sodomical acts, both Damian and Pope Leo IX were in perfect accord with one another. However, in terms of Church discipline, the pope appears to have taken exception with Damian's appeal for the wholesale deposition of all clerics who commit sodomical acts. I say, appears, because I believe that even in the matter of punishing known clerical offenders, both men were more in agreement than not.
Certainly, Damian, who was renown for his exemplary spiritual direction of the novitiates and monks entrusted to his care, was not unaware of certain mitigating circumstances that would diminish if not totally remove the culpability of individuals charged with the crime of sodomy.
For example, as with certain clerical sex abuse cases that have come to light today involving the Society of St. John and the Legionaries of Christ, which the Holy See has yet to investigate, some novices or monks may have been forced or pressured by their superiors to commit such acts. No doubt, it is circumstances such as these that prompted Pope Leo IX to use the term, "who of his own free will" in describing a cleric guilty of sodomy. Also among the four varieties of sodomy Damian discusses in his treatise, he states that interfemoral and anal coitus are to be judged more serious than solitary or mutual masturbation.
All in all, what this writer found to be most remarkable about the pope's letter to Damian, was the absolutist position Pope Leo IX took concerning the ultimate responsibility of the offending cleric's bishop or religious superior. If the latter criticized or attacked this apostolic decree, he risked losing his rank! Prelates who fail to "attack vice, but deal lightly with it," share the guilt and sentence of the one who dies in sin, the pope declared. (Mrs. Randy Engel, The Rite of Sodomy, pp. 57-58)
Writing five hundred years after Saint Peter Damian and Pope Leo IX, Pope Saint Pius V explained the just penalty due clerics caught in the act of unnatural vice:
That horrible crime, on account of which corrupt and obscene cities were destroyed by fire through divine condemnation, causes us most bitter sorrow and shocks our mind, impelling us to repress such a crime with the greatest possible zeal.
Quite opportunely the Fifth Lateran Council [1512-1517] issued this decree: "Let any member of the clergy caught in that vice against nature . . . be removed from the clerical order or forced to do penance in a monastery" (chap. 4, X, V, 31). So that the contagion of such a grave offense may not advance with greater audacity by taking advantage of impunity, which is the greatest incitement to sin, and so as to more severely punish the clerics who are guilty of this nefarious crime and who are not frightened by the death of their souls, we determine that they should be handed over to the severity of the secular authority, which enforces civil law.
Therefore, wishing to pursue with the greatest rigor that which we have decreed since the beginning of our pontificate, we establish that any priest or member of the clergy, either secular or regular, who commits such an execrable crime, by force of the present law be deprived of every clerical privilege, of every post, dignity and ecclesiastical benefit, and having been degraded by an ecclesiastical judge, let him be immediately delivered to the to the secular authority to be put to death, as mandated by law as the fitting punishment for laymen who have sunk into this abyss. (Pope Saint Pius V,Horrendum illud scelus, August 30, 1568.)
Death, not "brotherhood" and "mainstreaming" for the sake of "inclusivity," was what Pope Saint Pius V, faithful to the teaching of Saint Paul the Apostle in his Epistle to the Roman cited above, believed should be imposed on the clergy as well as the laity who were caught in "such an execrable crime" that caused him "such better sorrow" shocked his papal mind as he sought to "repress such a crime with the greatest possible zeal."
Jorge Mario Bergoglio and others in the conciliar structures want to provide "brotherhood" and "acceptance."
Just a slightly different approach, wouldn't you say?
A true pope understood the horror of such a detestable sin on the part of the clergy and sought to administer punishment to serve as a medicinal corrective for other priests and to demonstrate to the laity the horrific nature of such a moral crime.
A false "pope" and many of his “bishops” seeksto appear as agents of mercy when they are actually apostles of eternal death.
Mind you, I am not suggesting the revival of this penalty in a world where it would not be understood and where the offender would be made a "martyr" for the cause of perversity, only pointing out the fact that the Catholic Church teaches that clerics and others in ecclesiastical authority who are guilty of serious moral crimes are deserving of punishment, not protection, by their bishops. Such is the difference yet again between Catholicism and conciliarism.
It is shameful that anyone would seek to provide a cover for a man who has such disregard for the honor and glory and majesty of the Most Blessed Trinity and who seeks to indemnify sinners in the name of what is nothing other than a false mercy.
As has been noted so frequently on this site in the past two years since Jorge Mario Bergoglio’s ascent to power within the walls of the Occupied Vatican on the West Bank of the Tiber River, we are witnessing only the perfection of the inherent degeneracy of conciliarism’s false teachings and its sacramentally barren liturgical rites. It was only a matter of time for men who have propagated grave doctrinal errors would come to propagate ever manner of moral error imaginable in the name of a false “mercy” and “tolerance.”
The counterfeit church of conciliarism is a false church. Its "pontiffs" and "bishops" have given us a steady diet of apostasy, blasphemy, and sacrilege over the course of the past sixty-four years.
To accept any of this as coming from the Catholic Church is to admit that she can propagate heresy and error to tickle the ears of Catholics and non-Catholics alike while scandalizing many Protestants and even Orthodox Jews by daring to assert that sinful behavior, whether natural or unnatural, contains "elements of true love" that can "teach" the "Church" about the "meaning" of "love" and "families" in our "modern" age.
Those who are unchaste must be exhorted to quit their immoral behavior, seeking out the Mercy of the Divine Redeemer in the Sacred Tribunal of Penance at the hands of a true priest as he acts in persona Christi as an alter Christus, resolved from thence on to live penitentially as the consecrated slaves of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, praying as many Rosaries each day as their state-in-life permits. You will hear no such exhortations from the lips of the conciliar "bishops," staring with Jorge Mario Bergoglio himself.
Let me reprise the following once again for those who have been away from this site for a while:
1) God's love for us is an act of His divine will, the ultimate expression of which is the salvation of our immortal souls.
2) Our love for others must be premised on willing for them what God wills for us: their salvation.
3) We love no one authentically if we do or say anything, either by omission or commission, which reaffirms him in a life of unrepentant sin.
4) God hates sin. He wills the sinner to repent of his sins by cooperating with the graces He won for them on the wood of the Holy Cross.
5) Sin is what caused Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to suffer unspeakable horrors on the wood of the Holy Cross and caused His Most Blessed Mother's Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart to be thrust through with Seven Swords of Sorrow.
6) No one can say that he loves Our Lord or Our Lady if he persist in sin unrepentantly and/or celebrates the commission of sin in public acts of defiance against the binding precepts of the Divine positive law and the Natural Law.
7) Each sin darkens the intellect and weakens the will, inclining us all the more to sin and sin again. We must, therefore, resolve never to sin again and to do penance for our sins as Our Lady herself implored us to do when she appeared in th Cova da Iria near Fatima, Portugal, ninety years ago.
8) It is therefore forbidden for anyone of this parish or diocese to participate or support, whether morally or financially, any event whatsoever that celebrates any sin, whether natural or unnatural, and/or encourages people to persist in sin as a legitimate "lifestyle."
9) One of the Spiritual Works of Mercy is to admonish the sinner. We have an obligation to admonish those who are in lives on unrepentant sin to turn away from their lives of sin and to strive to pursue the heights of sanctity.
10) God has compassion on all erring sinners, meaning each one of us. He understands our weakness. He exhorts us, as He exhorted the woman caught in adultery, to "Go, and commit this sin no more."
11) It is not an act of "love" for people to persist in unrepentant sins with others.
12) It is not an act of "judgmentalness" or "intolerance" to exhort people who are living lives of unrepentant sin to reform their lives lest their souls wind up in Hell for eternity.
13) Mortal Sins cast out Sanctifying Grace from the soul. Those steeped in unrepentant mortal sin are the captives of the devil until they make a good and sincere Confession.
14) Certain sins cry out to Heaven for vengeance. Sodomy is one of the four sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance.
15) Those engaged in natural or unnatural acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments do not "love" the individuals with whom they are sinning. Authentic love cannot exist in a soul committed to a life against the Commandments of God and the eternal welfare of one's own soul, no less the souls of others.
16) Those engaged in natural or unnatural acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments are not fit to adopt children.
17) Those engaged in natural or unnatural acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments are not fit to adopt children because their very sinful lives put into jeopardy the eternal of the souls of the children they seek to adopt. It is not possible for people who are sinning unrepentantly to teach children to hate sin as God hates sin. They are immersed in sin. Pope Pius XI put it this way in Casti Connubii, December 31,1930:
But Christian parents must also understand that they are destined not only to propagate and preserve the human race on earth, indeed not only to educate any kind of worshippers of the true God, but children who are to become members of the Church of Christ, to raise up fellow-citizens of the Saints, and members of God's household, that the worshippers of God and Our Savior may daily increase. (Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii, December 31,1930.)
18) Those engaged in unnatural, perverse acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandments are further unfit to adopt children because they have no right in the Divine positive law or the natural law to live together as a "couple." Once again, Pope Pius XI's Casti Connubii:
Nor must We omit to remark, in fine, that since the duty entrusted to parents for the good of their children is of such high dignity and of such great importance, every use of the faculty given by God for the procreation of new life is the right and the privilege of the married state alone, by the law of God and of nature, and must be confined absolutely within the sacred limits of that state. (Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii, December 31,1930.)
19) Those engaged in unnatural, perverse acts against the Sixth and Ninth Commandment have no right in the Divine positive law or the natural law to present a "model" of parenthood that is from the devil himself. The words that Saint Paul wrote about perversity in Rome in his own day are quite apropos of our own:
Wherefore God gave them up to the desires of their heart, unto uncleanness, to dishonour their own bodies among themselves. Who changed the truth of God into a lie; and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use against which is their nature.
And in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error.
Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them. (Romans 1: 24-32)
20) Matrimony was elevated to a Sacrament by Our Lord at the wedding feast in Cana. The Holy Sacrament of Matrimony is entered into by one man and by one woman to achieve these ends: the procreation and education of children, the mutual good of the spouses, a remedy for concupiscence. Pope Pius XI noted this in Casti Connubii:
This conjugal faith, however, which is most aptly called by St. Augustine the "faith of chastity" blooms more freely, more beautifully and more nobly, when it is rooted in that more excellent soil, the love of husband and wife which pervades all the duties of married life and holds pride of place in Christian marriage. For matrimonial faith demands that husband and wife be joined in an especially holy and pure love, not as adulterers love each other, but as Christ loved the Church. This precept the Apostle laid down when he said: "Husbands, love your wives as Christ also loved the Church,"[24] that Church which of a truth He embraced with a boundless love not for the sake of His own advantage, but seeking only the good of His Spouse.[25] The love, then, of which We are speaking is not that based on the passing lust of the moment nor does it consist in pleasing words only, but in the deep attachment of the heart which is expressed in action, since love is proved by deeds. This outward expression of love in the home demands not only mutual help but must go further; must have as its primary purpose that man and wife help each other day by day in forming and perfecting themselves in the interior life, so that through their partnership in life they may advance ever more and more in virtue, and above all that they may grow in true love toward God and their neighbor, on which indeed "dependeth the whole Law and the Prophets." For all men of every condition, in whatever honorable walk of life they may be, can and ought to imitate that most perfect example of holiness placed before man by God, namely Christ Our Lord, and by God's grace to arrive at the summit of perfection, as is proved by the example set us of many saints.
This mutual molding of husband and wife, this determined effort to perfect each other, can in a very real sense, as the Roman Catechism teaches, be said to be the chief reason and purpose of matrimony, provided matrimony be looked at not in the restricted sense as instituted for the proper conception and education of the child, but more widely as the blending of life as a whole and the mutual interchange and sharing thereof. (Pope Pius XI, Casti Connubii, December 31, 1930.)
21) It is never permissible to put even one child into spiritual, if not physical, jeopardy by claiming that so many others would be helped if the Church did not cooperate with an unjust law. Our Lord said that it would be better for one to have a millstone thrown around his neck and thrown into a lake than to lead one of his little ones astray. He was not joking.
22) Sinners must repent of the evil they have done in order to live lives of penance and mortification worthy of Saint Francis of Assisi. Pray as many Rosaries as you can each day of our life. They must repent and pray and work for the conversion of those with whom they have sinned, sure to make a full, integral confession to a true priest in the Sacred Tribunal of Penance on a weekly basis.
A Catholic bishop would not hesitate to make these points. Although there are some true bishops from the Eastern Rites present in Rome at this time, they are one with the their brother “non-bishops” of the Roman Rite within the counterfeit church of conciliarism as being completely bereft of the Catholic Faith, thus leaving souls “happy” in this life to be condemned for all eternity in Hell, the very place where the conciliar revolutionaries themselves are headed if they do not have a miraculous conversion to the true Faith before they die.
Ah, Bergoglio is neither a Catholic nor a bishop. He is a man who fell from the Faith long ago, dating back to the days he was scandalized by the refusal of faithful Catholics to recognize the legitimacy of divorced Catholics "marrying" again civilly. He is a suborner of sin because he is A Man of Sin.
The false mercy of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, coupled with his denunciations of faithful Catholics, comes at a time when sin is being justified and enabled by the lords of Modernity, who deem as "haters" the very people Bergoglio sees as "hypocrites." None other than the Patron Saint of Moral Theologians, Saint Alphonsus de Liguori, a Doctor of Holy Mother Church, had a few choice words about the delusions of the sorts of unrepentant sinners whom Bergoglio believes are "judged" by merciless "hypocrites".
The conciliar revolutionaries, of course, live in a delusional world. Their world is so delusion that they do not even tell the unrepentant sinner that he has to make a good confession, not that the thought of doing so enters into the minds of most unrepentant sinners today.
Bergoglio embraces and enables the very crimes of Modernity that have contributed to the natural disasters of our present age, and he bears direct responsibility for the crimes of Modernism as advanced by the counterfeit church of conciliarism.
Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres explained the connection between the sins of men and natural disasters and tragedies:
While the founding mothers admired Mother Mariana's perfect observance of the rule and practice of virtue, there were other sisters who were stirred by jealousy. Mother Marina suffered insults and persecutions form those sisters without ever trying to justify herself or protest. Only at the foot of the Tabernacle did she confide her secret sorrows to her Beloved. One day in 1582, as she was praying before the altar, she saw the Tabernacle open and Christ Himself emerged, suffering as He had at Golgotha. The Blessed Virgin, at His feet, was shedding tears of pearls. Mother Mariana asked her, "My Lady, am I do blame for this sadness?"
"No, she replied, "it is not you, but the criminal world." Then as Our Lord began His Agony, she heard the voice of the Eternal Father saying, "This punishment will be for the 20th century." She saw three swords hanging over the head of Christ. On each was written, "I shall punish heresy, blasphemy and impurity." With this, she was given to understand all that would take place in the present era.
The Holy Virgin continued: "My daughter, will you sacrifice yourself for the people of this time?" Mother Mariana replied, "I am willing." And immediately the swords moved away from the agonizing Christ and buried themselves in the hear of Mother Mariana, who fell dead through the violence and pain. (Marian Therese Horvat, Ph.D., Our Lady of Good Success: Prophecies for Our Times, Tradition in Action, Inc., second edition, 2000, p. 27.)
Following Mother Mariana's "mysterious death and resurrection," Our Lady spoke to her again:
"Thus do I make it known to you that from the end of the 19th century and especially in the 20th century, in what is today the Colony and then will be the Republic of Ecuador, the passions will erupt and there will be a total corruption of customs, for Satan will reign almost completely by means of Masonic sects. They will focus particularly on the children in order to achieve this general corruption. Woe to the children of these times! It will be difficult to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, and also that of Confirmation. Making use of persons in positions of authority, the devil will assiduously try to destroy the Sacrament of Confession ...
"The same thing will happen with Holy Communion. Alas! How deeply I grieve upon manifesting to you the many and horrible sacrileges--both public and also secret--that will occur from such profanations of the Holy Eucharist! Often during this epoch, the enemies of Jesus Christ, instigated by the demon, will steal consecrated hosts from the churches so that they might profane the Eucharistic Species. My Most Holy Will will see Himself cast upon the ground and trampled upon by irreverent feet" . . . .
"Know, moreover, that Divine Justice releases terrible chastisements on entire nations, not only for the sins of the people, but especially for those of priests and religious persons. For the latter are called by the perfection of their state, to be the salt of the earth, the masters of truth and deflectors of divine wrath. Straying from their divine mission, they degrade themselves in such a way that, before the eyes of God, they quicken the rigor of the punishments. . . . (Our Lady of Good Success: Prophecies for Our Times, pp. 44-45; 63)
We should not be surprised, therefore, by the outbreaks of various natural disasters as they are instruments of God's justice. They are also, however, instruments of His ineffable mercy, providing survivors (and those in other parts of the world who become aware of various disasters) an opportunity to amend their lives and return to Him through His Catholic Church before they die sudden and sacramentally unprovided-for deaths. We must remember that there is nothing we can suffer in this passing, mortal vale of tears that is the equal of what one of our least Venial Sins caused Our Lord to suffer during His Passion and Death, remembering also how our sins caused Seven Swords of Sorrow to be thrust through the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Dr. Horvat put it this way in Our Lady of Good Success: Prophecies for Our Times:
It is almost impossible for us to understand the next phase of the life of the novice Mariana de Jesus Torres. Hidden in the Heart of her Spouse, she was inflamed with a desire for a life of immolation and sacrifice. Our Lord Himself told her the practices she should carry out during the free hours of the community schedule and the penances she should perform each week. Her severe disciplines, sacrifices, fasting and prayer, all described in chapters of the manuscript, appear daunting to the man of our century, who finds suffering something to avoid, or, at best, to endure as austerely as possible.
Suffering is highly ennobling. On this road of suffering in union with Christ, man finds the fullest meaning of his life, and he discovers that frequently it is in the great sufferings of life, accepted with a supernatural disposition, that he can find a joy which the greatest pleasures do not give. Further, he discovers in suffering an interior state that makes him capable of soaring to heights impossible for one who does not suffer. Only when man embraces great sufferings can his horizons expand to grand metaphysical and religious heights and his spirit advance to a superior state. At the end of Mother Mariana's life when her sanctity was acknowledged in the community and convent, she would look back with nostalgia and sigh for the days of persecution and suffering. (Marian Therese Horvat, Ph.D., Our Lady of Good Success: Prophecies for Our Times, Tradition in Action, Inc., second edition, 2000, p. 26.)
Yes, God punishes men for the sins, both in this life and, in the case of those who die in a state of Mortal sin, for all eternity in hell. This is simply His Divine Justice, which is not in the least in conflict with his ineffable mercy for erring sinners who seek to reform their lives by confessing their sins, both by kind and number as far as they are able to remember, to a true priest.
God will not be mocked. Sins must be punished. God chooses a variety of ways to punish us errant, recidivist, ungrateful sinners. The elements of the earth are themselves disturbed by human sins as they are part of the Order of Creation (Nature) whose perfect balance was rent asunder as a result of Original Sin.
I would entreat you, however, to consider how Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Himself told Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres that the sins of men in Ecuador, a country favored with the visits of Our Lady of Good Success and ruled for twelve years (1859 to 1865 and 1869 to the time of assassination in 1875) by that great exemplar of the Social Reign of Christ the King, Gabriel Garcia Moreno, would diminish the luster of the sunsets in that country on the equator:
She saw that when this would happen, the beautiful dawn that each morning would break forth with refulgence over this land--so enchantingly spectacular that some persons would rise at daybreak just to see the day break--would lose some of its brilliance. Thus does earth reflect Heaven, and the earth's beauty and vitality diminish with sin and infidelity to grace. This favor of beautiful dawns should cease, Mother Mariana was given to understand, because the Republic [of Ecuador, which was then only a Spanish colony] would become corrupt and ungrateful for the benefits it received from God. (Marian Therese Horvat, Ph.D., Stories and Miracles of Our Lady of Good Success, Tradition in Action, Inc., 2002, p. 68.)
Men must quit their sins and repent of them in the Sacred Tribunal of Penance. They must treat each other as they would treat Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Who was made Flesh in Our Lady's Virginal and Immaculate Womb, where He spent nine months growing to the point of His Nativity in poverty and anonymity in Bethlehem on Christmas Day.
No one can say that he loves Our Lord and yet supports His dismemberment mystically in the persons of innocent preborn children. And it is impossible to provide for any element of the common temporal good on an enduring basis as long as the innocent preborn are attacked with legal impunity, as long as the Sovereignty of God over the sanctity and fecundity of marriage is denied by means of contraception, as long as perversity is promoted under the slogans of "diversity" and "human rights," as long as men live as though there is no true Church and that they do not have to face Christ the King as their Judge at the moment of their Particular Judgments.
Men cannot sin wantonly without realizing terrible chastisements from God, something that Saint Alphonsus de Liguori made very clear in Preparation for Death:
The Lord does not wish us to be lost; and therefore, by the threat of chastisement, he unceasingly exhorts us to a change of life. Except you will be converted, He will brandish His sword. Behold, he says in another place, how many, because they would not cease to offend me, have met with a sudden death, when they were least expecting it, and were living in peace, secure of a life of many years. For whey they shall say: Peace and security: then shall sudden destruction come upon them. Again he says: Unless you shall do penance, you shall likewise perish. Why so many threats of chastisements before the execution of vengeance? It is because he wishes that we amend our lives, and thus avoid an unhappy death. "He," says Saint Augustine, "who tells you to beware, does not wish to take away your life." It is necessary, then, to prepare our accounts before the day of account arrives. Dearly beloved Christians, were you to die, and were your lot for eternity to be decided before night would your accounts be ready? Oh! how much would you give to obtain from God another year or month, or even another day, to prepare for judgment? Why then do yo not now, that God gives you this time, settle the accounts of your conscience? Perhaps is cannot happen that this shall be the last day for you? Delay not to be converted to the Lord, and defer it not from day to day; for His wrath shall come on a sudden, and in the time of vengeance He will destroy thee. My brother, to save your soul you must give up your sin. "If then you must renounce it at some time, why do you not abandon it at this moment?" says Saint Augustine. Perhaps you are waiting till death arrives? But for obstinate sinners, the hour of death is the time, not of pardon, but of vengeance. In the time of vengeance He will destroy thee. (Saint Alphonsus de Liguori, Preparation for Death.)
It was on September 19, 1846, that Our Lady explained Our Lady of La Salette told Melanie Calvat and Maximin Giraud about the terrible effects of sin in the world:
The Church will be in eclipse, the world will be in dismay. But now Enoch and Eli will come, filled with the Spirit of God. They will preach with the might of God, and men of good will will believe in God, and many souls will be comforted. They will make great steps forward through the power of the Holy Spirit and will condemn the devilish lapses of the Antichrist. Woe to the inhabitants of the earth! There will be bloody wars and famines, plagues and infectious diseases. It will rain with a fearful hail of animals. There will be thunderstorms which will shake cities, earthquakes which will swallow up countries. Voices will be heard in the air. Men will beat their heads against walls, call for their death, and on another side death will be their torment. Blood will flow on all sides. Who will be the victor if God does not shorten the length of the test? At the blood, the tears and prayers of the righteous, God will relent. Enoch and Eli will be put to death. Pagan Rome will disappear. The fire of Heaven will fall and consume three cities. All the universe will be struck with terror and many will let themselves be lead astray because they have not worshipped the true Christ who lives among them. It is time; the sun is darkening; only faith will survive.
Now is the time; the abyss is opening. Here is the King of Kings of darkness, here is the Beast with his subjects, calling himself the Savior of the world. He will rise proudly into the air to go to Heaven. He will be smothered by the breath of the Archangel Saint Michael. He will fall, and the earth, which will have been in a continuous series of evolutions for three days, will open up its fiery bowels; and he will have plunged for all eternity with all his followers into the everlasting chasms of hell. And then water and fire will purge the earth and consume all the works of men's pride and all will be renewed. God will be served and glorified." (Message of Our Lady of La Salette.)
Remarkably, Our Lady’s warning at La Salette, France, is very similar to as found in The New English Edition of The Mystical City of God as Our Lady explained to the Venerable Mary of Agreda:
120. Woe to the earth, and to the sea, because the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, knowing that he hath but a short time (Apoc. 12:12). Woe to the earth, where so many sins and such wickedness shall be perpetrated! Woe to the sea, which having such great offenses against the Creator in sight did not loosen its floods and annihilate the transgressors, avenging the insults against its Maker and Lord! But more woe to the profound and raging sea of those who follow the demon after he had descended into their midst in order to war against them with great wrath and with such unheard-of cruelty! It is the wrath of the most ferocious dragon, and greater than that of the devouring lion (I Peter 5:8), who attempts to annihilate all creation, and to whom all the days of the world seem a short time to execute his fury. Such is his hunger and thirst to do damage to mortals that all the days of their life do not satisfy him, for they come to an end, whereas he desires eternal ages, if possible, in order to wage war against the sons of God, and among them all is his wrath primarily directed against that happy Woman who was to crush his head (Gen. 3:15). Therefore the Evangelist says:
121. And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman, who brought forth the man child (Apoc. 12:13). When the ancient serpent saw the most unhappy place and state to which he had fallen, and that he was hurled from the empyrean heaven, he broke out in so much the greater rage and envy, like a wild beast tearing its own entrails. Against the Mother of the Word incarnate he conceived such a furious rage as no human tongue or intelligence can ever describe or understand; but to a certain extent this anger can be surmised from that which followed immediately after that dragon found himself hurled with his hosts to the infernal regions. I will describe this event as far as I can and as far as it has been made plain to my understanding.
122. During the entire first week related in Genesis in which God realized the creation of the world and its creatures, Lucifer and the demons were occupied in conferring regarding machinations of wickedness against the Word who was to become incarnate, and against the Woman of whom He was to be born and made man. On the first day, which corresponds to Sunday, were created the angels; laws and precepts were given to them for the guidance of their actions. The wicked ones disobeyed and transgressed the mandates of the Lord. By divine Providence and disposition then happened all the other events which have been recorded above, up to the morning of the second day, corresponding to Monday, on which Lucifer and his army were thrown out of heaven and hurled into hell. The duration of these days corresponds to the small periods or delays which intervened between their creation, activity, battle, and fall or glorification. As soon as Lucifer with his followers entered hell they all assembled in council which lasted to the day corresponding to the morning of Thursday. During this time Lucifer exerted all his astuteness and diabolical malice in conferring with the demons and concocting plans to offend God so much the more deeply, and to obtain revenge for the chastisement to which he had been subjected. They came to the conclusion and resolved that the greatest vengeance and injury against God would be to impede the effects of the love which they knew God bore toward mankind. This they hoped to attain by deceiving men and persuading them, or even, as far as possible, compelling them to neglect the friendship of God, to be ungrateful toward Him, and to rebel against his will. (The New English Edition of The Mystical City of God, Book I: The Conception, Chapter X.)
We are eyewitnesses to apostasy, which is why we need the help of Our Lady, especially through her Most Holy Rosary, now more than ever before.
In this month of July, the month of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus, therefore, we beg Our Lady, who took meticulous care to attend to the her Divine Son’s Most Precious Blood and to ask the angels to do so when during His Passion Death, to send us the graces to make reparation for the many ways that our sins, having transcended time, were responsible for cruelties inflicted upon Our Lord once in time and also for how our sins, as well as those of the whole world, have worsened both the state of the world and the state of the Church Militant during this time of apostasy and betrayal. Our acts of reparation will better prepare our souls to receive the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Our Lord in Holy Communion and to strive with Our Lady’s help to grow in sanctity and not the sentimentality and emotionalism of worldliness.
Pope Pius I, whose feast is celebrated today, July 11, 2022, commanded that priests clean up any and all drops of Our Lord’s Most Precious Blood that might spill in an accident during the offering of the ineffable Sacrifice of the Cross represented in an unbloody manner in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, something that Dom Prosper Gueranger explained in his introductory reflection for today’s feast as well as in his prayer to the first pope named Pius, which was the name taken by our last truly canonized pope and our last true pope thus far:
The ancient legend of St. Pius I, which has lately been altered, made mention of the decree, attributed in the Corpus juris to our Pontiff, concerning those who should carelessly let fall any portion of the Precious Blood of our Lord. The prescriptions are such as evince the profound reverence the Pope would have to be shown towards the Mystery of the Altar. The penance enjoined is to be of forty days if the Precious Blood have fallen to the ground; and wheresoever It fell, It must if possible be taken up with the lips, the dust must be burned, and the ashes thereof thrown into a consecrated place.
We call to mind, O glorious Pontiff, those words written under thine eye, which seem to be a commentary on thy decree concerning the Sacred Mysteries: “We receive not,” cried Justin the Philosopher to the world of that second century: “We receive not as common bread, nor as common drink, the food which we call the Eucharist; but just as Jesus Christ our Savior, being made flesh by the word of God, had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so have we been taught that the food made Eucharist by the prayer formed of His own word, is both the Flesh and the Blood of this Jesus who is made flesh.” This doctrine, and the measures it so fully justifies, found, towards the close of the same century, other authentic witnesses who, in their turn, would almost seem to be quoting from the prescriptions attributed to thee. “We are in the greatest distress,” said Tertullian, “if the least drop from our chalice, or the least crumb of our Bread fall to the ground.” And Origen appealed to the initiated to bear witness to “the care and veneration with which the sacred gifts were surrounded, for fear the smallest particle should fall; which, if it happened through negligence, would be considered a crime.” And yet in our days heresy, as destitute of knowledge as of faith, pretends that the Church has departed from her ancient traditions by paying exaggerated homage to the divine Sacrament. Obtain for us, O Pius, the grace to return to the spirit of our fathers; not indeed with regard to their faith, for that we have kept inviolate; but as to the veneration and love with which that faith inspired them for the Chalice of Inebriation, that richest treasure of earth. May the Pasch of the Lamb unite, as thou didst desire, in one uniform celebration, all who have the honor to bear the name of Christian! (Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B., The Liturgical Year, Feast of Pope Saint Pius I.)
Begging Our Lady to help us persevere in the Catholic Faith, which makes no terms with error or sin, until the point our deaths, we also pray to Pope Saint Pius I today to increase the fervor with which we receive the Blessed Sacrament and/or make a Spiritual Communion with It so that we recognize the ugliness of sin that continues to despoil our souls, to make no concessions with it in the lives others by acts of omission or commission, and to resolve here and forevermore never to abuse the mercy of the Divine Redeemer in the Sacred Tribunal of Penance and to eschew the sentimentality begotten of worldliness once and for all.
Offer all the sufferings of the moment to the Throne of the Most Blessed Trinity as the consecrated slave of Christ the King through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart Mary, whose triumph will be manifest when will least expect it.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, triumph soon!
