Trump Being Swallowed By The Swamp He Promised to Drain
This commentary could have several other possible titles, including “Trump Sells Out to the Generals,” “George Walker Trump,” “The War Party Gets Their Man.”
Given events in the past few days alone, though, the current title is a pretty apt description of President Donald John Trump’s surrender to many of the same swamp masters that he campaigned against with such entertaining effectiveness last year. The forty-fifth president has been swallowed by the swamp that he promised to drain.
To wit, it has been out of President Donald John Trump’s own mouth that he said the following on Thursday, September 14, 2017, the Feast of Exaltation of the Holy Cross, after Senate Minority Leader Charles H. Schumer (D-People’s Republic of New York) and House Minority Leader Nancy Patricia D’Alesandro Pelosi (D-People’s Republic of California) held a preemptive news conference to announced that they had reached a tentative “deal” with the president to codify most of the elements of former President Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro’s unconstitutional and illegal executive order called DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals):
“People want to see that happen,” Trump told reporters Thursday morning, referring to the deal as he prepared to head to Florida to look at hurricane recovery efforts.
“You have 800,000 young people, brought here, no fault of their own. So we’re working on a plan, we’ll see how it works out. We’re going to get massive border security as part of that. And I think something can happen, we’ll see what happens, but something will happen,” he said.
In addition to Trump’s personal feelings about the Dreamers, Republican members of Congress attributed his sudden outreach to the Democrats to unhappiness over his failure to achieve big legislative goals in the first eight months of his administration.
“He’s very frustrated in how things are not getting done, and he’s talking with the Democrats. What’s he supposed to do?” asked Rep. Lou Barletta, R-Pennsylvania, one of Trump’s earliest supporters in Congress and a longtime foe of illegal immigration. “He didn’t come here to do nothing. He came here to keep his promises”. . . .
Throughout the day Thursday, Trump sought to defend himself against charges that he was breaking a promise. Responding to a shouted question as he left the White House about whether he favors “amnesty,” Trump shouted back. “The word is DACA.”
Later in Florida, Trump amplified that defense.
“We’re not looking at citizenship. We’re not looking at amnesty. We’re looking at allowing people to stay here,” he said. “We’re talking about taking care of people, people who were brought here, people who’ve done a good job.” (Trump Says No Deal on DACA, Wants Border Security.)
Although she later tempered her criticism a bit, the naturalist of the false opposite of the naturalist “right” named Laura Ingraham had the following initial reaction to the deliberate confusion caused by Schumer and Pelosi and Trump’s own lack of clarity when questioned about their statement:
“Let me just get this straight — at these rallies during 2015, 2016, I don’t remember hearing, ‘Repair the fence! Repair the fence! Repair the fence and make Mexico pay for the fence.’ Who the heck said ‘repair the fence?’ He’s going to get creamed on this and if this goes down the way I fear it goes, mark my words — this will be an electoral nightmare for Republicans. You think all these DACA, quote ‘kids,’ as Donald Trump called them today, their average age 23 — the kids? Do you think they’re all going to be like conservative populists because you cut a deal late at night with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer? What planet are you living on? (This was found on a website that features truly scatological photographs. I will not provide a link.)
Although it is impossible to deport each of those who entered the United States of America illegally, it is fairly foolish to believe that Charles Schumer and Nancy Pelosi desire “border security,” which would deprive their organized crime family of the false opposite of the naturalist “left” of additional voters to participate illegally in American elections. Charles Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are interested in making a “deal” that will make the president look bad with his political base of supporters.
In return, of course, these two nefarious pro-aborts and pro-pervert statists and globalists will give the president nothing other than fierce opposition to the point of supporting efforts to remove him from office once “special counsel” Robert Mueller and his team of Democratic Party operatives and donors have completed their “investigation,” which currently features picking locks of private homes to conduct a raid on a man, Paul Manafort, they are seeking to “squeeze.” No one in the false opposite of the naturalist “left” is the least bit concerned with Mueller’s gang of fascistic goons who are on a mission to overturn another American presidential election. Schumer and Pelosi are more than happy to schmooze with Trump as they make bad deals with him on raising the national debt ceiling without giving anything to him in return while rooting for Mueller and his gang to get rid of him for them.
Sadder still is the fact that President Trump still believes that many of the elements of Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro’s unconstitutional, immoral and unjust Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ObamaDeathCare) must be retained. This is yet another surrender to the swamp’s principle that goodies once given can must never be taken back.
Although other senators who belong to the organized crime family of the false opposite of the naturalist “left” are expected to vote against the fake “repeal” of ObamaDeathCare if a true swamp master named Addison Mitchell McConnell, Jr., the Senate Majority Leader, decides to bring it to a floor vote next week, which he probably will in order to be rid of the matter once and for all as he, McConnell, is allergic to anything that gives even the appearance of rolling back the welfare state, United States Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) has stood alone in opposition to ObamaDeathCare on constitutional and policy grounds:
No one wants to repeal ObamaCare more than I do. As a career physician, there are few in Congress who have as much firsthand experience on all sides of the health care debate as I do. I’ve voted for repeal. I’ve sponsored my own Repeal and Replace plans.
But I’ve also led the fight to stop and block “ObamaCare Lite” plans offered in both houses of Congress this year. These have been plans that have spent nearly as much money as ObamaCare, that left most of the taxes and regulations in place, and basically failed to honor our promise of repeal.
Unfortunately, they’re back again, and I must add to the list of ObamaCare Lite plans to oppose the new Graham/Cassidy bill that was introduced last week in the Senate.
In all ways, this bill is also ObamaCare Lite. In no way is it repeal the way we promised. I will oppose this bill as I did the other fake repeal bills, and I urge those who want repeal to do so, as well.
Make no mistake – Graham/Cassidy keeps ObamaCare funding and regulations in place. Oh, it rearranges the furniture a bit, changes some names, and otherwise masks what is really going on – a redistribution of ObamaCare taxes and a new Republican entitlement program, funded nearly as extravagantly as ObamaCare.
Graham/Cassidy doesn’t repeal a single ObamaCare insurance regulation. All of the Title 1 rules, the Essential Health Benefit rules, all of them - they’re still in place here.
States may grovel on bended knee for some relief to the federal government, with no guarantee of success and no permanent solution beyond the current administration.
I believe the president and HHS Secretary would WANT to do the right thing on state waivers, but I’ve already spent the better part of the year arguing with an army of bureaucrats and lawyers in the administration trying to get them to do something President Trump and I AGREE should be done - loosening up the rules on joining group plans. This would be a huge change for Americans and a big fix for our system – yet they can’t get it done. The idea disappears into the Swamp. I’m afraid even the minor waivers of regulations envisioned here would do the same.
This bill is also set to spend us further into debt. Even the bill’s authors and proponents, using what I’m sure are rosy numbers, admit that their ObamaCare Lite bill will spend 90 percent of what we currently spend on ObamaCare. Other estimates are closer to 95 percent. Either way, did anyone go out to vote so we could repeal only 5 or 10 percent of ObamaCare? I didn’t.
Graham/Cassidy won’t fix our health care problems, and it will become a permanent drain on the treasury - one that is already $20 trillion in debt, with a $700 billion deficit next year.
Repeal of ObamaCare, if we did it “root and branch” as some suggested in their campaigns, would have saved over a trillion dollars in spending over 10 years. Instead, we are left trying to save crumbs while leaving the system largely intact.
I won’t do it. I know many of my colleagues are getting desperate to say they “did something,” and I can sympathize with that. They figure most people aren’t paying attention, and the press conference where they said they did something would carry them through the elections next year.
But I’m worried. I’m worried about what happens when premiums continue to go up double digits (and they will). I’m worried about what happens when the system continues its downward spiral, but this time it is “GOP/TrumpCare” that gets blamed. And they will.
I’m looking ahead past the next election, to the day of reckoning when the bills are due, and we are out of money, because we did the wrong thing for the wrong reasons.
Graham/Cassidy keeps a trillion dollars in taxes and spending and redistributes it. And, somehow, people are looking to call this “federalism.” I wish it were, but that’s just not the case.
Their sales pitch is, “If you like your ObamaCare, you can keep it.” That’s nice, but I don’t like it, I don’t want to keep it, and I don’t want to keep paying for it. So how about we all keep our word and get rid of it?
To my colleagues, I say, “No thanks.” This bill is no better than the last attempt and should receive no more support. It should not pass. I’ll vote no, and I’ll fight to stop the newest ObamaCare Lite plan. (Graham-Cassidy Does Not Repeal ObamaCare.)
Senator Paul is entirely correct.
What Senator Paul misses, however, is the fact that the Senate Republicans who voted to repeal ObamaDeathCare when its chief apologist and namesake, Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro, was in office, knowing full well that that the statist whom they indemnified at every turn would veto their repeal bills. The repeal votes during the previous administration were merely for show. McConnell and his fellow swamp creature, House Speaker Paul Davis Ryan (R-Wisconsin), never had any real intention of entirely eliminating the new entitlement program that was passed in 2010 when Democrats controlled the White House and both Houses of the Congress of the United States of America.
As I have been saying consistently for the past five years, three months, ObamaDeathCare is still Here to Stay (see also There Is Nothing "Pro-Life" About RyanCare, Everyone Loses When Our King Reigneth Not Over Men and Their Nations, part three and Trying to Hold Back the Gates of Hell By Natural Means Never Succeeds), and there is a special irony in all of this as it was a Republican appointee to the Supreme Court of the United States of America, Chief Justice John Glover Roberts, who has saved ObamaDeathCare from the fate it deserved of being declared unconstitutional and that, more recently, three Republican senators, including the naturalist “hope of the right” in 2008, United States John Sidney McCain III (R-Arizona), who even voted against ObamaCare Lite earlier this year and are poised to do so again. Talk about false opposites.
[For the sake of reiteration, therefore, as I know that people forget and that there might be that new reader to this little-read and much-castigated website, let me explain yet again what I mean by the false opposites of the naturalist "left" and the naturalist "right":
I refer to the "false opposites" of the "left" and the "right" because, despite their differences over the powers "government" over that of the "individual," both the "left" and the "right" reject Catholicism as the one and only foundation of personal and social order. The adherents of the "left" and the "right" believe that it is neither prudent or necessary to acknowledge that the Incarnation of the Second Person of the Most Blessed Trinity in the Virginal and Immaculate Womb of His Most Blessed Mother has changed human history. Such adherents also reject any suggestions that both men and their nations must be subordinate to Christ the King and the authority of His true Church on all that pertains to the good of souls and that the civil government has an obligation to pursue the common temporal good in light of man's Last End.
No matter the differences between "conservatives" and "liberals," my friends, they both have one mind and one heart in the belief that man does not need the teaching and sanctifying offices of the Catholic Church to guide them in their private and social lives. This is, of course, the triumph of the Judeo-Masonic spirit of naturalism that was dissected so well by Pope Leo XIII. It matters little as to who is or is not a formally enrolled member of the "lodges" when most Catholics and non-Catholics alike are infected with the ethos of naturalism.
Similarly, any civil leader who believes that can, either by himself or with others, pursue genuine order without the help of Our Lady and the use of her Most Holy Rosary is a fool. We must give public honor to Christ the King and to Mary our Immaculate Queen.
That's the point I try to make repeatedly on this site.]
The situation is such a farce at this time that President Donald John Trump is campaigning against the more “conservative” candidate, former Judge Roy Moore, in the Alabama Republican primary on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, the Feast of the North American Martyrs and the Commemoration of Saints Cyprian and Justina, in the special election, which will be held on December 12, 2017, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, to permanently fill the seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has demonstrated himself to be utterly incapable of draining the United States Department of Justice of deep state operatives who protected Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton from any legal consequences of her serial lawbreaking and who are intent upon removing the non-ideological “deal maker” from the presidency.
Trump’s support for interim Senator Luther Strange is, well, strange, and it calls to mind then President Ronald Wilson Reagan’s support for the pro-abortion statist and lecher, then United States Senator Robert Packwood (R-Oregon), in a 1986 primary against a “conservative” opponent who was mostly pro-life and partly pro-abortion, Joe Lutz, and it recalls the support that then President George Walker Bush and then United States Senator Richard Santorum (R-Pennsylvania) gave to the treacherous pro-abort, pro-pervert weasel and thirty-third degree Freemason named United States Senator Arlen Specter (D-R-D-Pennsylvania) in 2004 when he faced a primary challenge from partly pro-life and partly pro-abortion United States Representative (currently Senator) Patrick Joseph Toomey (see Blame George Walker Bush).
The “swamp” never changes.
Moreover, the swamp’s mastery of elected officials is such that its swamp creatures are usually able to prevail in their efforts to keep the “global war on terror” in place. In other words, the War Party always gets their man, and they have gotten Donald John Trump but good
President Donald Trump evidently is so pleased with his complete surrender to the neoconservative war hawks with which he has surrounded himself that he boasted of his decision to commit more troops to the nearly sixteen year-old quagmire in Afghanistan when he addressed the United Nations on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, the Feast of Saint Januarius:
Last month, I announced a new strategy for victory in the fight against this evil in Afghanistan. From now on, our security interests will dictate the length and scope of military operations, not arbitrary benchmarks and timetables set up by politicians.
I have also totally changed the rules of engagement in our fight against the Taliban and other terrorist groups. In Syria and Iraq, we have made big gains toward lasting defeat of ISIS. In fact, our country has achieved more against ISIS in the last eight months than it has in many, many years combined.
We seek the de-escalation of the Syrian conflict, and a political solution that honors the will of the Syrian people. The actions of the criminal regime of Bashar al-Assad, including the use of chemical weapons against his own citizens -- even innocent children -- shock the conscience of every decent person. No society can be safe if banned chemical weapons are allowed to spread. That is why the United States carried out a missile strike on the airbase that launched the attack. (Presidential Speech at the United Nations General Assemby.)
Leaving aside the president’s having repeated the discredited assertion that Bashar al-Assad had used chemical weapons against his own people (see Jerusalem Belongs to Christ the King and His True Church, part two), Trump’s remarks at the United Nations remind me of the old joke that began to circulate in the summer of 1965 as President Lyndon Baines Johnson, who ran for election in 1964 by portraying his opponent, United States Senator Barry M. Goldwater (R-Arizona), who first wife, Peggy, actually worked with Margaret Sanger to establish Planned Barrenhood clinics in Arizona, as a war-monger who would blow up the world. Famously, Johnson said the following during the campaign:
“We are not about to send American boys nine or 10,000 miles away from home to do what Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves.” (Special Reprt on the Vietnam War.)
Another famous quote of Johnson’s which I heard as they broadcast in 1964 but which I cannot provide a direct source at the moment went something along the lines as follows:
“As long as I am your president, not one more American boy will be sent to his death in Southeast Asia.”
The architect of American social engineering called the Great Society and of population control kept that promise. He did not send one more boy to his death in Southeast Asia. He began the process in 1965 of sending over half a million American boys to fight in Southeast Asia, fifty-five thousand of whom were killed in battle there. As I said at the time to my parents, “You know what L.B. Johnson stands for? Lyin’ Boy Johnson.”
All right.
Fast forward to 2013.
Private citizen Donald John Trump, who was then This is what Donald John Trump said about Afghanistan in 2013:
“Let’s get out of Afghanistan. Our troops are being killed by the Afghanis we train and we waste billions there. Nonsense! Rebuild the USA.” (What Trump Said About Afghanistan in 2013.)
Donald John Trump is not Lyndon Baines Johnson, who was a calculated liar. Indeed, the Pentagon Papers leaked to The New York Times by Daniel Ellsberg in 1971 proved that the man who was called “the peasant from the Perdinales” by the late Dr. Tadeusz Cieplak, who as a professor of mine at Saint John’s University in 1971 and 1972 (Dr. Cieplak as a native of Poland who had been imprisoned in a Soviet slave labor camp for a time during World War II before he escaped by hiding with sheep in a railway box car), was planning the escalate American military involvement in Vietnam even as he portrayed Goldwater as a reckless war monger.
No, Trump is no Lyndon Johnson. He’s just Donald Trump, which means that he is prone to act on the advice he receives last as he really has no fixed principles.
Perhaps it is becoming clear now why it was necessary for “deep state” operatives to oust Trump’s first National Security Advisor, General Michael Flynn, who was opposed to all of the needless commitments of American personnel to fight wars that did not involve the direct national security interests of the United States of America. Flynn’s successor, General Herbert Raymond McMaster, who is a 1980 graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy and a 1984 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, is a full-fledged neoconservative war hawk, which is why he has purged from the National Security Council almost everyone who was hired by Michael Flynn. Flynn’s nationalism is the very antithesis of McMaster’s globalism. The very people who helped to plan the unjust, immoral and unconstitutional American invasion of Iraq on March 20, 2003, are back in charge of the American national security policy once again. Although Trump ran on platform of putting the interests of the United States first, he has surrendered to the generals, which is not unsurprising given the fact that he is a 1964 graduate of the New York Military Academy
Patrick Joseph Buchanan put the matter this way in a column that appeared within hours of the speech that President Donald John Trump delivered at Fort Myer, Alexandria, Virginia, on Monday, August 21, 2017, the Feast of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal, announcing a “new” policy to “win” this country’s longest war, the one that began when President George Walker Bush ordered the bombs to start dropping over Afghanistan on Sunday, October 7, 2001, the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary:
War is the health of the state, but the death of empires.
The German, Austro-Hungarian, Russian and Ottoman empires all fell in World War I. World War II ended the Japanese and Italian empires — with the British and French following soon after. The Soviet Empire collapsed in 1989. Afghanistan delivered the coup de grace.
Is it now the turn of the Americans?
Persuaded by his generals — Mattis at Defense, McMasters on the National Security Council, Kelly as chief of staff — President Trump is sending some 4,000 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan to augment the 8,500 already there.
Like Presidents Obama and Bush, he does not intend to preside over a U.S. defeat in its longest war. Nor do his generals. Yet how can we defeat the Taliban with 13,000 troops when we failed to do so with the 100,000 Obama sent?
The new troops are to train the Afghan army to take over the war, to continue eradicating the terrorist elements like ISIS, and to prevent Kabul and other cities from falling to a Taliban now dominant in 40 percent of the country.
Yet what did the great general, whom Trump so admires, Douglas MacArthur, say of such a strategy?
“War’s very object is victory, not prolonged indecision.”
Is not “prolonged indecision” what the Trump strategy promises? Is not “prolonged indecision” what the war policies of Obama and Bush produced in the last 17 years?
Understandably, Americans feel they cannot walk away from this war. For there is the certainty as to what will follow when we leave.
When the British left Delhi in 1947, millions of former subjects died during the partition of the territory into Pakistan and India and the mutual slaughter of Muslims and Hindus.
When the French departed Algeria in 1962, the “Harkis” they left behind paid the price of being loyal to the Mother Country.
When we abandoned our allies in South Vietnam, the result was mass murder in the streets, concentration camps and hundreds of thousands of boat people in the South China Sea, a final resting place for many. In Cambodia, it was a holocaust.
Trump, however, was elected to end America’s involvement in Middle East wars. And if he has been persuaded that he simply cannot liquidate these wars — Libya, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Afghanistan — he will likely end up sacrificing his presidency, trying to rescue the failures of those who worked hardest to keep him out of the White House.
Consider the wars, active and potential, Trump faces.
“War between Russia and the West seems nearly inevitable. No self-respecting nation facing inexorable encirclement by an alliance of hostile neighbors can allow such pressures and forces to continue indefinitely. Eventually (Russia) must protect its interests through military action.”
If Pyongyang tests another atom bomb or ICBM, some national security aides to Trump are not ruling out preventive war.
Trump himself seems hell-bent on tearing up the nuclear deal with Iran. This would lead inexorably to a U.S. ultimatum, where Iran would be expected to back down or face a war that would set the Persian Gulf ablaze.
Yet the country did not vote for confrontation or war.
America voted for Trump’s promise to improve ties with Russia, to make Europe shoulder more of the cost of its defense, to annihilate ISIS and extricate us from Mideast wars, to stay out of future wars.
America voted for economic nationalism and an end to the mammoth trade deficits with the NAFTA nations, EU, Japan and China.
America voted to halt the invasion across our Southern border and to reduce legal immigration to ease the downward pressure on American wages and the competition for working-class jobs.
Yet today we hear talk of upping and extending the U.S. troop presence in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, of confronting Iran, of sending anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons to Ukraine to battle pro-Russia rebels in the east.
Can the new custodians of Trump’s populist-nationalist and America First agenda, the generals and the Goldman Sachs alumni association, be entrusted to carry it out? (Trump's Agenda Getting Eclipsed?)
This is, of course, very good as far as it goes.
As is ever the case, however, Mr. Buchanan refuses to see the obvious truth that no good can come from naturalism. One cannot provide for the genuine national security of one’s nation without first seeking to pursue the common temporal good in light of man’s Last End, namely, the possession of the Beatific Vision of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost for all eternity in Heaven.
Moreover, it was foolhardy for anyone to have been snookered into believing that a shallow man who has had an insatiable appetite for riches, good press and personal pleasure can withstand the supposed “expertise” of persuasive generals whose lies and misrepresentations have resulted in the needless deaths of countless numbers of innocent human beings in foreign nations where American military operations have taken place and the equally needless deaths of American military personnel who have been put into harm’s way in the prosecution of unjust, immoral and unconstitutional wars that have caused the national debt of the United States of America to skyrocket in the past sixteen years. President Donald John Trump has been swallowed whole by the very swamp that he promised to drain.
Trump’s surrender to the scheming neoconservative war hawk Herbert Raymond McMaster, who some reports indicate may be on thin ice with the unpredictable president who has no core set of beliefs other than wanting to “make good deals” and to “make America great again,” has been such that he, Trump, refused to use the term “radical Islamic terrorism” after the most recent terrorist attack in London, England. Trump, being Trump, did use the term in his address to the United Nations on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, the Feast of Saint Januarius, Alas, even that term, though, is inaccurate as those who kill in the name of the false, blasphemous “prophet” named Mohammed are simply being faithful to the teaching of the false, blasphemous Koran (see Mohammedanism Has Never Been A Religion of Peace.)
It is clear that Trump, who is basking in the “good press” that he has received from his decision to explore a deal with pro-aborts, pro-perverts Charles Schumer and Nancy Patricia D’Alesandro Pelosi that would preserve much of what he once called his predecessor’s illegal “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” (DACA), has been trumped, so to speak, even though many of his core of die-hard supporters will always accept whatever pivot or “counter pivot” their man decides to make no matter the inconsistency and contradiction entailed by doing so. After all, what are illogical and inconsistent policy decisions and statements in the objective order of things can easily be viewed as “brilliant” examples of Trump’s keeping everyone off-guard and of even transcending the decadent two-party system.
The problem with this view of things is that it winds up indemnifying wholesale position changes that are no consonant with the common temporal good that wind up causing more harm, which is sometimes manifested even in the short-term. I mean, is the anti-family, anti-population “Paris Climate Accord” based on actual science or ideological refuse passing as science? It is mind-boggling for the president to denounce—and justly so—the “Paris Climate Accord” on June 1, 2017 (see Trump Statement on Paris Climate Accord) and to permit his Secretary of State, Rex “Exxon/Mobil Funds Planned Barrenhood—well, only “indirectly,” you understand” Tillerson, to say on Sunday, September 17, 2017, the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost and the Commemoration of the Imperession of the Stigmata on Saint Francis of Assisi, that the president is “open” to staying in the so-called “Paris Climate Accord” (has anything good come out of any Paris accords over the course of the past two hundred thirty-eight years?) under the "right conditions."
While one can never let the perfect be the enemy of the merely good, it is also true that one can never let that which is false become accept as good merely because it advances the agenda of a particular individual and/or gives that individual the “good press” that his ego craves. It is a sign of a very weak and indecisive man, Trump, to let someone, McMaster, who had helped to plan the disastrous adventure in Iraq that he opposed with great rhetorical consistency last year during the campaign, push out of his inner staff those who joined his campaign because they believed that what he, Trump, said, is what he believed.
What Trump says at one time, however, what he believes at that moment. He is too easily convinced to reverse course for the sake of getting “something done” even if it winds up contradicting where he had stood previously.
This is somewhat reminiscent of a man, Darryl Eugene Strawberry, who told two radio show hosts in New York in November of 1989 that he did not want to leave New York, that his first desire was to stay with the Mets. It was only a few hours later, though, that Strawberry used the press conference in his native Los Angeles, California, to announce his signing as a free agent with the transplanted Brooklyn Dodgers, then managed by Thomas Charles Lasorda, who turns ninety on Friday, September 22, 2017, the Feast of Saint Thomas Villanova and the Commemoration of Saint Maurice and His Companions on Ember Friday in September, that he always wanted to return to Los Angeles, that his first desire was to sign with the Dodgers. (Lasorda greeted Strawberry with bear hugs that day. It was a mere three and one-half years later, though, that Lasorda said the following to a caller who had phoned his television show to say that Strawberry was a dog: “Darryl Strawberry is not a dog. A dog is loyal and runs after balls.” See Tommy Lasorda Unloads on Darryl Strawberry.)
It is no light matter to commit the troops of the United States of America into foreign adventures that have been concocted by military-industrial complex to justify its own existence and to increase the reach of its political power within the deep state. To believe that it is possible to achieve “victory,” whatever that is supposed to be, in Afghanistan, is to ignore the fact that, as Mr. Buchanan noted correctly, the Trump’s new policy, which could be reversed at any time, of course, of increasing the numbers of American troops there, the full might of the British and Soviet empires could not contain the fiercely independent people of a very mountainous country.
Remember, there was a great deal of enthusiasm in some Catholic "conservative" circles for the Mohammedan Mujahideen fighters who were resisting the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan back in the 1980s. One Mujahideen speaker who was associated with the Free Congress spoke at the Washington Catholic Rendezvous at which I also spoke in Washington, D.C., in February of 1987. The man gave a compelling account of how his country was suffering under the Soviet occupation.
I was, however, a little disturbed by the uncurbed enthusiasm that many expressed after the man's talk, saying to a few people thereafter, "I don't know about this. The Mohammedans hate us just as much as they hate the Communists. They might turn around one day and target us after they're done with the Soviets." Not a few of the members of the Afghan Mujahideen fighters became members of the Taliban, proving once again that the devil has used the various forms of naturalism, including Communism itself, to inspire such understandable and deserved fear into the hearts of believing Catholics to convince them to take leave of their Catholic senses and to trust in open enemies of the true Faith as some kind of a “solution” to retard other forms of naturalism. Such is nothing other than a trap from the devil himself.
What has all of the lives lost, the people, including American military personnel, who have been injured, the bombs dropped, and the billions of dollars spent accomplished? What?
The situation in Afghanistan is so bad that the corrupt former president of Afghanistan, who was also known as the “Mayor of Kabul” because his government controlled so little of his country’s territory, admitted in 2010 that he took bags and bags from the Iranians while also taking billions upon billions of dollars from the government of the United States of America:
'They do give us bags of money—yes, yes, it is done, we are grateful to the Iranians for this." This is the East, and baksheesh is the way of the world, Hamid Karzai brazenly let it be known this week. The big aid that maintains his regime, and keeps his country together, comes from the democracies. It is much cheaper for the Iranians. They are of the neighborhood, they know the ways of the bazaar.
The remarkable thing about Mr. Karzai has been his perverse honesty. This is not a Third World client who has given us sweet talk about democracy coming to the Hindu Kush. He has been brazen to the point of vulgarity. We are there, but on his and his family's terms. Bags of cash, the reports tell us, are hauled out of Kabul to Dubai; there are eight flights a day. We distrust the man. He reciprocates that distrust, and then some. Our deliberations leak, we threaten and bully him, only to give in to him. And this only increases his lack of regard for American tutelage. We are now there to cut a deal—the terms of our own departure from Afghanistan.
The idealism has drained out of this project. Say what you will about the Iraq war—and there was disappointment and heartbreak aplenty—there always ran through that war the promise of a decent outcome: deliverance for the Kurds, an Iraqi democratic example in the heart of a despotic Arab world, the promise of a decent Shiite alternative in the holy city of Najaf that would compete with the influence of Qom. No such nobility, no such illusions now attend our war in Afghanistan. By latest cruel count, more than 1,300 American service members have fallen in Afghanistan. For these sacrifices, Mr. Karzai shows little, if any, regard.
In his latest outburst, Mr. Karzai said the private security companies that guard the embassies and the development and aid organizations are killer squads, on a par with the Taliban. "The money dealing with the private security companies starts in the hallways of the U.S. government. Then they send the money for killing here," Mr Karzai said. It is fully understood that Mr. Karzai and his clan want the business of the contractors for themselves.
The brutal facts about Afghanistan are these: It is a broken country, a land of banditry, of a war of all against all, and of the need to get what can be gotten from the strangers. There is no love for the infidels who have come into the land, and no patience for their sermons. (Karzai and the Scent of U.S. Retreat.)
Even though the author of this article clearly supported America’s “global war on terror,” including the illegal, immoral, unjust and unconstitutional invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq that destabilized this country and has resulted in “open season” upon Chaldean Rite Catholics, most of whose ancestors can be traced to the Third Century A.D., the comments about Afghanistan were entirely correct. The situation is even worse now after former President Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro made former President George Walker Bush’s his own after he, Obama/Soetoro, had denounced it during his campaign against the hapless war hawk named John Sidney McCain III.
Lost on the poor naturalists is the simple fact that God is visiting chastisements upon the so-called “civilized” West for abandoning the true Faith and endorsing every error under the sun, including Mohammedanism. Pluralism and religious indifferentism result in the death of nations, a death which starts by killing off all notion of objective truth, whether supernatural or natural, including the simple fact that there is only one true religion, Catholicism. It was these lies of pluralism and religious indifferentism that preconditioned Catholics in the United States of America to accept the “Second” Vatican Council’s embrace of “religious liberty” and the subsequent teaching of the conciliar “popes” in behalf of the “separation of Church and State” (“healthy secularity”).
As has been noted on this site so many times in the past, the influx of Mohammedans into the nations of formerly Catholic Europe, and into the United States of America, founded as it is on a welter of Protestant and Judeo-Masonic errors, has been engineered in large part by the ancient enemies of the Holy Name of Christ the King. Talmudists have been in the forefront of “opening up” Europe and the United States of America to Mohammedans and other non-Christians in order to obliterate the Holy Name of Jesus from public mention in the name of “tolerance” and “diversity.”
These facts are lost on President Donald John Trump and his team of neoconservative advisers. Although the president spoke the truth about the evils of socialism at the United Nations two days ago, he is blind to the fact that the United States of America, which he believes is an example of “freedom” and “human dignity” to emulate if they choose to do so, has exported all manner of errors and moral evils around the world in the name of “freedom” and “human dignity.”
Although he said in his address to the United Nations that the United States of America does not seek to impose its “values” on the world, he believes the Constitution of the United States of America, which makes no reference at all to Christ the King and thus equates the true religion any religion and with no religion whatsoever, can serve as the “example” for the rest of the world:
In America, we do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example for everyone to watch. This week gives our country a special reason to take pride in that example. We are celebrating the 230th anniversary of our beloved Constitution -- the oldest constitution still in use in the world today.
This timeless document has been the foundation of peace, prosperity, and freedom for the Americans and for countless millions around the globe whose own countries have found inspiration in its respect for human nature, human dignity, and the rule of law.
The greatest in the United States Constitution is its first three beautiful words. They are: “We the people.” (Presidential Speech at the United Nations General Assemby.)
While it can be argued successfully that Trump was referring to the “sovereignty of the people” as opposed to the raw power of unelected oligarchs and/or the very deep state agents who spied on him during his campaign, are monitoring his conversations and releasing transcripts of them to show that they have the power to effect his removal, the plain fact of the matter is that the “people” are not sovereign. Christ the King is, and He alone, not the Constitution of the United States of America, is the foundation of true peace and prosperity.
This is what Pope Leo XIII said about “popular sovereignty” in Immortale Dei, November 1, 1885:
The sovereignty of the people, however, and this without any reference to God, is held to reside in the multitude; which is doubtless a doctrine exceedingly well calculated to flatter and to inflame many passions, but which lacks all reasonable proof, and all power of insuring public safety and preserving order. Indeed, from the prevalence of this teaching, things have come to such a pass that may hold as an axiom of civil jurisprudence that seditions may be rightfully fostered. For the opinion prevails that princes are nothing more than delegates chosen to carry out the will of the people; whence it necessarily follows that all things are as changeable as the will of the people, so that risk of public disturbance is ever hanging over our heads.
To hold, therefore, that there is no difference in matters of religion between forms that are unlike each other, and even contrary to each other, most clearly leads in the end to the rejection of all religion in both theory and practice. And this is the same thing as atheism, however it may differ from it in name. Men who really believe in the existence of God must, in order to be consistent with themselves and to avoid absurd conclusions, understand that differing modes of divine worship involving dissimilarity and conflict even on most important points cannot all be equally probable, equally good, and equally acceptable to God. (Pope Leo XIII, Immortale Dei, November 1, 1885.)
It was on All Saints Day fifteen years later that Pope Leo XIII explained the dire consequences that the world suffers from divorcing itself from the Social Reign of Christ the King:
From this it may clearly be seen what consequences are to be expected from that false pride which, rejecting our Saviour's Kingship, places man at the summit of all things and declares that human nature must rule supreme. And yet, this supreme rule can neither be attained nor even defined. The rule of Jesus Christ derives its form and its power from Divine Love: a holy and orderly charity is both its foundation and its crown. Its necessary consequences are the strict fulfilment of duty, respect of mutual rights, the estimation of the things of heaven above those of earth, the preference of the love of God to all things. But this supremacy of man, which openly rejects Christ, or at least ignores Him, is entirely founded upon selfishness, knowing neither charity nor selfdevotion. Man may indeed be king, through Jesus Christ: but only on condition that he first of all obey God, and diligently seek his rule of life in God's law. By the law of Christ we mean not only the natural precepts of morality and the Ancient Law, all of which Jesus Christ has perfected and crowned by His declaration, explanation and sanction; but also the rest of His doctrine and His own peculiar institutions. Of these the chief is His Church. Indeed whatsoever things Christ has instituted are most fully contained in His Church. Moreover, He willed to perpetuate the office assigned to Him by His Father by means of the ministry of the Church so gloriously founded by Himself. On the one hand He confided to her all the means of men's salvation, on the other He most solemnly commanded men to be subject to her and to obey her diligently, and to follow her even as Himself: "He that heareth you, heareth Me; and he that despiseth you, despiseth Me" (Luke x, 16). Wherefore the law of Christ must be sought in the Church. Christ is man's "Way"; the Church also is his "Way"-Christ of Himself and by His very nature, the Church by His commission and the communication of His power. Hence all who would find salvation apart from the Church, are led astray and strive in vain.
As with individuals, so with nations. These, too, must necessarily tend to ruin if they go astray from "The Way." The Son of God, the Creator and Redeemer of mankind, is King and Lord of the earth, and holds supreme dominion over men, both individually and collectively. "And He gave Him power, and glory, and a kingdom: and all peoples, tribes, and tongues shall serve Him" (Daniel vii., 14). "I am appointed King by Him . . . I will give Thee the Gentiles for Thy inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for Thy possession" (Psalm ii., 6, 8). Therefore the law of Christ ought to prevail in human society and be the guide and teacher of public as well as of private life. Since this is so by divine decree, and no man may with impunity contravene it, it is an evil thing for the common weal wherever Christianity does not hold the place that belongs to it. When Jesus Christ is absent, human reason fails, being bereft of its chief protection and light, and the very end is lost sight of, for which, under God's providence, human society has been built up. This end is the obtaining by the members of society of natural good through the aid of civil unity, though always in harmony with the perfect and eternal good which is above nature. But when men's minds are clouded, both rulers and ruled go astray, for they have no safe line to follow nor end to aim at. (Pope Leo XIII, Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900.)
This is why even well-meaning and at times completely amoral naturalists of the false opposite of the naturalist “right” can never find a way to prevail over the forces of leftism. To fight one set of evils with anything other than the truths of the true Faith is to relegate oneself to the fate of the mythical Sisyphus. Those who belief in and act in falsehood will always get crushed by the weight of their own errors just as it appears they have reached the precipice of the latest “hill” on which they have chosen to make a stand.
Moreover, far from being a beacon of true justice, the United States of America has perpetrated grave injustices right here in the “land of the free and the home of the brave.”
Among the present injustices that exist in the name of “freedom” and protected by the cover of the civil law, of course, one must note the daily carnage of the innocent preborn, both by chemical and surgical means, the daily killing of innocent human beings under the guise of “brain death” and in what is termed “palliative care,” the promotion of perverse sins against nature and the binding precepts of the Sixth and Ninth Commandments, indecency of speech and gross immodesty of attire that lead many into sin and eternal perdition, and the growing strength of atheism and paganism even among many baptized Catholics. The latter is the result both of the ethos of American religious indifferentism and the “fruits” of the “Second” Vatican Council and its anthropocentric liturgical rites.
Long before the present time, however, American presidents have countenanced injustices under of the cover of the civil law and during times of war.
Indeed, President Andrew Jackson, who was a bloodthirsty hater of Indians, engaged in a massive exercise in American social engineering in the forced relocation in 1831 of the Cherokees, Creeks, Seminoles, Chickasaws and, Choctawas from Georgia and Florida into what is now Oklahoma. Even his fellow Freemason and Tennesseean, United States Representative David Crockett, voted against the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Jackson’s darkened, Masonic heart was completely unmoved by the cruelty experienced along the Trail of Tears and the several thousand deaths that it caused, evoking, of course, memories of the Grand Derangement of the Acadians out of Nova Scotia in 1755 (see Applause For Killers).
This is part of what Crockett wrote in 1834, three years after the removal of the Indians had commenced:
I have almost given up the Ship as lost. I have gone So far as to declare that if he martin vanburen is elected that I will leave the united States for I never will live under his kingdom. before I will Submit to his Government I will go to the wildes of Texas. I will consider that government a Paridice to what this will be. In fact at this time our Republican Government has dwindled almost into insignificancy our [boasted] land of liberty have almost Bowed to the yoke of Bondage. Our happy days of Republican principles are near at an end when a few is to transfer the many. (Davy Crockett on the removal of the Cherokees.)
Unfortunately for Davy Crockett, he did not understand that he was witnessing even at that early stage in American history the degeneration of a nation founded on false, naturalistic, anti-Incarnational, religiously-indifferentist and semi-Pelagian principles. He thought Texas was to be a place of refuge. Many think so today as well. While Texas is a freer state than most, there is really no hiding place from the slave drivers. No hiding place at all.
The government of the United States of America subject the states of the Confederate States of America to such war crimes as the William Tecumseh Sherman's burning of Atlanta and his march to the Atlantic Ocean.
Many crimes against innocents were committed by the military forces of the United States of America during World Wars I and II, including the firebombing of Dresden, Germany, and the atomic bombing of the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, in 1945.
A reader of this site, Mr. Dennis Bilodeau, was kind enough recently to provide a very fine summary of yet another attack upon Catholics by the government of the United States of America that occurred during Operation Keelhaul after World War II:
"You may not be aware of it, but Dwight D. Eisenhower was responsible for implementing the very evil repatriation of millions of Eastern European refugees (many of whom were Catholic) who had fled from the communist take over. This evil was code named Operation Keelhaul. Many people actually committed suicide rather than to be forced back to their homeland under Satanic communist rule. The entire Yalta Conference was also part of this whole diabolical plot to further the Judeo-Masonic destruction of Christianity and bring about the reign of antichrist."
As has been noted many times on this site, the government of the United States of America also came to the financial and military assistance of the government of Plutarco Elias Calles as he was persecuting the Cristeros in the 1920s into the 1930s--see Then, Now and Always: Viva Cristo Rey!, part one, Then, Now and Always: Viva Cristo Rey!, part two, Then, Now and Always: Viva Cristo Rey!, part three, Then, Now And Always: Viva Cristo Rey!, part four and Then, Now And Always: Viva Cristo Rey!, part five.
Mr. Martin Hill, yet another reader of this site, sent a treasure trove of documentation in 2012 to illustrate the crimes committed by the United States of America against Catholics in Mexico a century ago six years before the beginning of the Cristeros War in a period that was no less deadly for Catholics under the iron hand of Venustiano Carranza:
On Thursday, April 29, 1920, The United States Senate Subcommittee on Foreign Relations heard Testimony taken at Washington D.C. Among the many people who testified were Fr. Francis P. Joyce, a Captain and Chaplain in the United States Army and Catholic nun Mother Elias De Sta Sacto, of the Discalced Carmelite Order.
Father Joyce testified of his visit to John R. Silliman: "...Mr. Silliman, personal representative of President Wilson to Carranza. I visited him in the office of Consul Canada, and asked that he take it up with the State Department and obtain a boat to ship those people out of the country. He said, "On what grounds?" I said to him, "If not on the grounds of religion, at least on the ground of humanity. These are women. The priests are men and will have to make shift for themselves." He then stood up and said, "It is generally admitted by everybody that the worst thing in Mexico, next to prostitution, is the Catholic Church, and both must go." To prevent a fight I was hustled out of the consul's office, and reprimanded in a military way for some words I had with Mr. Silliman."
Fr. Joyce also testified about how the U.S. Government refused all help for the refugees and noted "When the Americans evacuated Vera Cruz, I understood that more than 400 of the sisters were left behind. Afterward I was told that Carranza and Villa's army tried to have one prostitute to every four soldiers, and that many of these sisters were impressed as camp followers for Carranza's army..."
Mother Elias De Sta Sacto testified, in part, "They have closed the temples and prohibited the sacraments to the extent of shooting the priest who dares to hear confession or to administer the sacraments. The confessionals and some images of the saints have been burned in the public squares to the accompaniment of bands of music and impious speeches. They have profaned the churches, entering them on horseback, smashing the images, treading the relics under foot, throwing the Hosts about the floor and even giving them to the horses to eat with the fodder..." "...Immorality has increased to such a degree that they have profaned not only virgins but have violated nuns, carrying them away by force where they now suffer horribly. To the great suffering of my soul I have seen in Mexico the sad and lamentable fate of many sisters who have been victims of the unbridled passions of the soldiers. I found many bewailing their misfortune and that were about to become mothers, some in their own homes, others in maternity hospitals. Others unable to flee from despair have surrendered to a life of evil..." See full details here. (See Mr. Martin Hill, Historical details reemerge: U.S. Government supplied 10 Million rounds of ammo, 10,000 Enfield Rifles, military planes & tanks to Slaughter tens of thousands of Catholic Freedom Fighters.)
As I will never cease to remind the readership of this site, a Constitution that is based on no need to even recognize Christ the King, no less submit to His Social Kingship over men and their nations by means of the Indirect Power of His Catholic Church in all that pertains to the good of souls, will produce men who have respect neither for the laws of God or the true meaning of its own text.
Pope Pius IX explained what the end-product of the anti-Incarnational civil state of Modernity would look like:
For you well know, venerable brethren, that at this time men are found not a few who, applying to civil society the impious and absurd principle of "naturalism," as they call it, dare to teach that "the best constitution of public society and (also) civil progress altogether require that human society be conducted and governed without regard being had to religion any more than if it did not exist; or, at least, without any distinction being made between the true religion and false ones." And, against the doctrine of Scripture, of the Church, and of the Holy Fathers, they do not hesitate to assert that "that is the best condition of civil society, in which no duty is recognized, as attached to the civil power, of restraining by enacted penalties, offenders against the Catholic religion, except so far as public peace may require." From which totally false idea of social government they do not fear to foster that erroneous opinion, most fatal in its effects on the Catholic Church and the salvation of souls, called by Our Predecessor, Gregory XVI, an "insanity," viz., that "liberty of conscience and worship is each man's personal right, which ought to be legally proclaimed and asserted in every rightly constituted society; and that a right resides in the citizens to an absolute liberty, which should be restrained by no authority whether ecclesiastical or civil, whereby they may be able openly and publicly to manifest and declare any of their ideas whatever, either by word of mouth, by the press, or in any other way." But, while they rashly affirm this, they do not think and consider that they are preaching "liberty of perdition;" and that "if human arguments are always allowed free room for discussion, there will never be wanting men who will dare to resist truth, and to trust in the flowing speech of human wisdom; whereas we know, from the very teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ, how carefully Christian faith and wisdom should avoid this most injurious babbling. (Pope Pius IX, Quanta Cura, December 8, 1864.)
A system of morality based exclusively on human reason robs man of his highest dignity and lowers him from the supernatural to the merely natural life. Not but that man is able by the right use of reason to know and to obey certain principles of the natural law. But though he should know them all and keep them inviolate through life-and even this is impossible without the aid of the grace of our Redeemer-still it is vain for anyone without faith to promise himself eternal salvation. "If anyone abide not in Me, he shall be cast forth as a branch, and shall wither, and they shall gather him up and cast him into the fire, and he burneth" john xv., 6). "He that believeth not shall be condemned" (Mark xvi., 16). We have but too much evidence of the value and result of a morality divorced from divine faith. How is it that, in spite of all the zeal for the welfare of the masses, nations are in such straits and even distress, and that the evil is daily on the increase? We are told that society is quite able to help itself; that it can flourish without the assistance of Christianity, and attain its end by its own unaided efforts. Public administrators prefer a purely secular system of government. All traces of the religion of our forefathers are daily disappearing from political life and administration. What blindness! Once the idea of the authority of God as the Judge of right and wrong is forgotten, law must necessarily lose its primary authority and justice must perish: and these are the two most powerful and most necessary bonds of society. Similarly, once the hope and expectation of eternal happiness is taken away, temporal goods will be greedily sought after. Every man will strive to secure the largest share for himself. Hence arise envy, jealousy, hatred. The consequences are conspiracy, anarchy, nihilism. There is neither peace abroad nor security at home. Public life is stained with crime. (Pope Leo XIII, Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900.)
These are perfect descriptions of the world in which we live today at a time when our minders make it their business to mind everything about our own business in the name of “national security.”
For all of President Donald John Trump’s commendable defense of the principle of national sovereignty and his completely amoral threat to “destroy” North Korea and his commitment to the United Nations as an agent of peace, there can be no true peace within any country and in the world-at-large unless men are at peace with the true God of Divine Revelation. Our true popes have taught us very clearly what the scions of the naturalist “left” and the “right”—and the scions of naturalism who adhere to no particular ideology or philosophy—refuse to admit or to accept:
There exists an institution able to safeguard the sanctity of the law of nations. This institution is a part of every nation; at the same time it is above all nations. She enjoys, too, the highest authority, the fullness of the teaching power of the Apostles. Such an institution is the Church of Christ. She alone is adapted to do this great work, for she is not only divinely commissioned to lead mankind, but moreover, because of her very make-up and the constitution which she possesses, by reason of her age-old traditions and her great prestige, which has not been lessened but has been greatly increased since the close of the War, cannot but succeed in such a venture where others assuredly will fail.
It is apparent from these considerations that true peace, the peace of Christ, is impossible unless we are willing and ready to accept the fundamental principles of Christianity, unless we are willing to observe the teachings and obey the law of Christ, both in public and private life. If this were done, then society being placed at last on a sound foundation, the Church would be able, in the exercise of its divinely given ministry and by means of the teaching authority which results therefrom, to protect all the rights of God over men and nations.
It is possible to sum up all We have said in one word, "the Kingdom of Christ." For Jesus Christ reigns over the minds of individuals by His teachings, in their hearts by His love, in each one's life by the living according to His law and the imitating of His example. Jesus reigns over the family when it, modeled after the holy ideals of the sacrament of matrimony instituted by Christ, maintains unspotted its true character of sanctuary. In such a sanctuary of love, parental authority is fashioned after the authority of God, the Father, from Whom, as a matter of fact, it originates and after which even it is named. (Ephesians iii, 15) The obedience of the children imitates that of the Divine Child of Nazareth, and the whole family life is inspired by the sacred ideals of the Holy Family. Finally, Jesus Christ reigns over society when men recognize and reverence the sovereignty of Christ, when they accept the divine origin and control over all social forces, a recognition which is the basis of the right to command for those in authority and of the duty to obey for those who are subjects, a duty which cannot but ennoble all who live up to its demands. Christ reigns where the position in society which He Himself has assigned to His Church is recognized, for He bestowed on the Church the status and the constitution of a society which, by reason of the perfect ends which it is called upon to attain, must be held to be supreme in its own sphere; He also made her the depository and interpreter of His divine teachings, and, by consequence, the teacher and guide of every other society whatsoever, not of course in the sense that she should abstract in the least from their authority, each in its own sphere supreme, but that she should really perfect their authority, just as divine grace perfects human nature, and should give to them the assistance necessary for men to attain their true final end, eternal happiness, and by that very fact make them the more deserving and certain promoters of their happiness here below.
It is, therefore, a fact which cannot be questioned that the true peace of Christ can only exist in the Kingdom of Christ -- "the peace of Christ in the Kingdom of Christ." It is no less unquestionable that, in doing all we can to bring about the re-establishment of Christ's kingdom, we will be working most effectively toward a lasting world peace. (Pope Pius XI, Ubi Arcano Dei Consilio, December 23, 1922.)
As is ever the case at the White House, the two houses of the Congress of the United States of America, the Supreme Court of the United States of America, and in all other national, state, local and globalist institutions such as the United Nations, no mention of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was made by the current president three days ago. He was not alone in this slight as no leader or representative of any of the world’s governments ever do so. Even more sadly, the supposed “pope,” Jorge Mario Bergoglio did not do so when he addressed the United Nations on Friday, September 25, 2015.
Quite the contrary, of course, Pope Pius XI exhorted us to speak of the Holy Name of the Divine Redeemer especially in the halls of civil governance and in our own daily lives:
If We ordain that the whole Catholic world shall revere Christ as King, We shall minister to the need of the present day, and at the same time provide an excellent remedy for the plague which now infects society. We refer to the plague of anti-clericalism, its errors and impious activities. This evil spirit, as you are well aware, Venerable Brethren, has not come into being in one day; it has long lurked beneath the surface. The empire of Christ over all nations was rejected. The right which the Church has from Christ himself, to teach mankind, to make laws, to govern peoples in all that pertains to their eternal salvation, that right was denied. Then gradually the religion of Christ came to be likened to false religions and to be placed ignominiously on the same level with them. It was then put under the power of the state and tolerated more or less at the whim of princes and rulers. Some men went even further, and wished to set up in the place of God's religion a natural religion consisting in some instinctive affection of the heart. There were even some nations who thought they could dispense with God, and that their religion should consist in impiety and the neglect of God. The rebellion of individuals and states against the authority of Christ has produced deplorable consequences. We lamented these in the Encyclical Ubi arcano; we lament them today: the seeds of discord sown far and wide; those bitter enmities and rivalries between nations, which still hinder so much the cause of peace; that insatiable greed which is so often hidden under a pretense of public spirit and patriotism, and gives rise to so many private quarrels; a blind and immoderate selfishness, making men seek nothing but their own comfort and advantage, and measure everything by these; no peace in the home, because men have forgotten or neglect their duty; the unity and stability of the family undermined; society in a word, shaken to its foundations and on the way to ruin. We firmly hope, however, that the feast of the Kingship of Christ, which in future will be yearly observed, may hasten the return of society to our loving Savior. It would be the duty of Catholics to do all they can to bring about this happy result. Many of these, however, have neither the station in society nor the authority which should belong to those who bear the torch of truth. This state of things may perhaps be attributed to a certain slowness and timidity in good people, who are reluctant to engage in conflict or oppose but a weak resistance; thus the enemies of the Church become bolder in their attacks. But if the faithful were generally to understand that it behooves them ever to fight courageously under the banner of Christ their King, then, fired with apostolic zeal, they would strive to win over to their Lord those hearts that are bitter and estranged from him, and would valiantly defend his rights.
Moreover, the annual and universal celebration of the feast of the Kingship of Christ will draw attention to the evils which anticlericalism has brought upon society in drawing men away from Christ, and will also do much to remedy them. While nations insult the beloved name of our Redeemer by suppressing all mention of it in their conferences and parliaments, we must all the more loudly proclaim his kingly dignity and power, all the more universally affirm his rights. (Pope Pius XI, Quas Primas, December 11, 1925.)
As was pointed out in “Not A Mention of Christ the King” over seven and one-half years ago now, the presidents of the United States of America have gone out of their way to avoid making any reference to Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in their inaugural address and in their addresses to special joint meetings of the United States Congress.
You know who else refused to mention the Holy Name of Jesus in an address before a special joint meeting of the United States Congress?
You got it.
Jorge Mario Bergoglio in his September 24, 2015, address. (Bergoglio's Address to U.S. Congress.)
Our Lord, Christ the King, is seeing to it, however, that men and their nations start paying attention to Him and His just judgments against them for their sins.
Terrible chastisements have been visited upon the world by means of the two earthquakes in Mexico and Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria. Lest anyone doubt that these have been chastisements sent by the very hand of God to get the attention of His sinful creatures, consider the fact that some meteorologists believe that the future course of the devastating Hurricane Maria will be determined by Tropical Depression Jose. In other words, Joseph will be leading Mary.
These remarkable events are occurring as an astronomical phenomenon that has never occurred before and will never occur again is taking place today and tomorrow. Permit me to quote from Father Louis J. Campbell’s sermon for the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost and the Commemoration of the Impression of the Stigmata on Saint Francis of Assisi:
God’s words to Adam and Eve after their fall from grace make reference to a mysterious Woman, not Eve herself, but a Woman who was to come:
“I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel” (Gen.3:15).
Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself reveals the identity of the Woman in His words to His Mother at the marriage feast at Cana, as we read in the Gospel of St. John:
“And the wine having run short, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘What wouldst thou have me do, woman? My hour has not yet come.’ His mother said to the attendants, ‘Do whatever he tells you’” (Jn.2:1-5).
Again, as Jesus is about to die on the Cross, He speaks to His Mother and the apostle John:
“When Jesus, therefore, saw his mother and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold thy son.’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold thy mother’” (Jn.19:26,27).
The Woman again appears in the Apocalypse:
“And a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon was under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars” (Apoc.12:1).
In many of her apparitions approved by the Church, the Blessed Virgin Mary confirms her Son’s words. In the year 1531 she appeared in Mexico to the native Juan Diego, leaving her image on his tilma. The pattern of the stars on her garments shows that she locates herself in the heavens in the area of the constellation Virgo. Millions of baptisms among the native population of Mexico took place in the years following the apparition.
In 1830 Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Labouré and gave her the design for the Miraculous Medal, which many devout Catholics wear. It portrays the Woman crowned with twelve stars and the moon under her feet. Her foot is seen crushing the head of the devil. The twelve stars are on the reverse side of the medal. The medal depicts the Great Sign of the Book of the Apocalypse.
The reason for the immense power of the Blessed Virgin Mary over the devil is that she was conceived without sin. In this way she crushed the head of that ancient serpent. Her Immaculate Conception in the womb of her mother, St. Anne, was dogmatically defined by Pope Pius IX on December 8, 1854. Mary, our Mother, is the Refuge of Sinners. If we pray her Rosary devoutly every day we have a firm hope of saving our souls and finding eternal happiness with God in Heaven.
The amazing truth about the Great Sign predicted in the Apocalypse is that it will actually appear in the sky this comingSaturday, September 23, 2017. The sun will accompany the constellation Virgo (the Virgin), the moon will be under her feet, and she will be crowned by twelve stars. Normally there are only nine stars in the “crown” above Virgo. But on September 23rd they will be joined by the planets Venus, Mercury, and Mars, which appear to the eye as stars, to make up the twelve. The planet Jupiter, King of the planets, which has been in the womb area of Virgo for nine months, will exit, or be “born” at this time.
As we read on in the Apocalypse, Chapter 12, we find that a Great Red Dragon lurks below the Woman to devour her child as soon as he is born. There is actually a serpent constellation some distance below Virgo, but another visitor to our solar system may be the culprit. Perhaps it is a planet or a red dwarf star, which carries in its wake a cloud of debris. The Apocalypse says, “And his tail was dragging along the third part of the stars of heaven, and it dashed them to the earth…” (Apoc.12:4). These would not be actual stars, of course, but meteors, or falling stars. If we are to take this literally, we may be in for a difficult time after the 23rd of September.
This constellation of heavenly bodies has never taken place before, and it will never happen again, according to those who have studied it closely. St. John’s vision was truly prophetic.
On Sunday morning, September 24th, the constellation Virgo will rise with the sun over the city of Jerusalem. If the sun is obscured by the “Red Dragon” and its cloud, the constellation may be visible to the naked eye. Only God knows what this may portend for Jerusalem and for the world. Is it a wake-up call for this sinful world, or does it announce the punishments and chastisements it deserves? From what we know of the Woman, our Mother Mary, we must conclude that it is something good for those who love her, and her Divine Son, Jesus Christ. But we must listen well, and take to heart these sobering words from Our Lord:
“Take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be overburdened with self-indulgence and drunkenness and the cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly as a snare. For come it will upon all who dwell upon the face of the earth. Watch, then, praying at all times, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are to be, and to stand before the Son of Man” (Lk.21:34-36).
We also have this from Our Lord:
“And he spoke to them a parable. ‘Behold the fig tree, and all the trees. When they now put forth their buds, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things coming to pass, know that the kingdom of God is near. Amen I say to you, this generation will not pass away till all things have been accomplished. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away’” (Lk.21:20-33). (Father Louis J. Campbell, “A Woman Clothed with The Sun,” Sermon for the Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost, September 17, 2017.)
I, for one, do not know what this portends for us except that we must rely upon Our Lady and her Most Holy Rosary as never before.
Our Lady told us that we must pray her Most Holy Rosary to console the good God, to make reparation for our sins, to pray for the conversion of poor sinners and to pray for peace. It is Our Lady’s Most Holy Rosary and her Fatima Message, including our own personal devotion to her Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, are both part of Heaven’s peace plan, not the schemes of the naturalists of the false opposites of the naturalist “right” and “left.”
May it be our privilege in these difficult times to pray as many Rosaries each day as our state in life permits so that the master of lies who seeks our soul will not immerse us in the muck and mire of the bread and circuses of this world as we seek lift up our hearts and souls to Heaven by meditating upon the sacred mysteries of the Holy Faith, which alone is the only means of personal sanctity and true social order.
