The Supreme Masters of Sophistry have struck again.

Yes, led by Associate Justice Brett Michael Kavanaugh, the Supreme Court of the United States of America has ruled unanimously that associations of physicians opposed to the United States Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) approval for the marketing and sale of the human pesticide, RU-486, in September of 2000 and the Biden administration’s policies to make this pesticide more widely available lack judicial standing in the Federal courts to challenge the existing policies. The unanimous decision of the Court in the case of FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, June 13, 2022, reverse a decision upholding the Alliance’s claim to judicial standing that had been made by the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

As one of my minor fields in my doctoral studies was Public Law (Constitutional and Administrative Law), I could provide a detailed analysis of why the decision finding the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine lack standing to be very erroneous. However, such an analysis, which I might offer at some point in the next week, is pretty irrelevant when one considers the simple fact that the so-called “pro-life” justices (Associate Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Michael Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett) did not want to antagonize the Court’s pro-aborts (Associate Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Ketanji Brown Jackson) two years after the Court’s decision in the case of Thomas E. Dobbs, Mississippi State Health Officer v. Jackson Women’s Organization, June 24, 2022, which divided the Court bitterly, and they probably were encouraged by the institutionalist, good-for-nothing Chief Justice, John Glover Roberts, to avoid making any decision in cases involving baby-butchery in a presidential election year. The decision in the case of FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine is untenable and constitutionally unsound.

This brief commentary is going to be limited to making several salient points that one will not find in most other analyses of this matters.

First, as I have noted so many times before, no institution of human governance (executive, legislative, judicial, or administrative) nor the “people” themselves have any authority to “decide” anything about the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law other than to determine what kinds of civil and/or criminal penalties should be imposed upon those, for example, who butcher babies by chemical and/or surgical means. The direct, intentional killing of human beings is proscribed by the Fifth Commandment. Period.

Second, yet it is, of course, that we find ourselves arguing about the inarguable and debating the undebatable because the Constitution of the United States of America is the prisoner of its own text as it admits the existence of no law higher than its text as the basis for executive action, legislation, or judicial interpretation. The secular, religiously indifferentist, Judeo-Masonic nature of the Constitution makes it as fungible in the hands of legal positivists and those who believing in a “living constitution” that has to “grow” to “meet the needs of the people as they live” as are the words of Holy Writ in the hands of Protestants and/of Modernists. Nothing ever gets “settled” in our constitutional system as it is not firmly rooted in the due submission to the authority of the Catholic Church in the exercise of her Indirect Power of teaching, preaching, and admonition to remind civil leaders that there is a immutable, eternal law about human law that binds men in all places, at all times, and in all circumstances.

Third, to call to your attention once again the words of Cicero in his Republic:

True law is right reason conformable to nature, universal, unchangeable, eternal, whose commands urge us to duty, and whose prohibitions restrain us from evil. Whether it enjoins or forbids, the good respect its injunctions, and the wicked treat them with indifference. This law cannot be contradicted by any other law, and is not liable either to derogation or abrogation. Neither the senate nor the people can give us any dispensation for not obeying this universal law of justice. It needs no other expositor and interpreter than our own conscience. It is not one thing at Rome, and another at Athens; one thing to-day, and another to-morrow; but in all times and nations this universal law must forever reign, eternal and imperishable. It is the sovereign master and emperor of all beings. God himself is its author, its promulgator, its enforcer. And he who does not obey it flies from himself, and does violence to the very nature of man. And by so doing he will endure the severest penalties even if he avoid the other evils which are usually accounted punishments. (Cicero, The Republic.)

Cicero had it almost entirely correct. Almost. He was wrong in asserting that the natural law does not need any "other expositor and interpreter than our own conscience." He lived before the Incarnation and before the founding of the true Church upon the Rock of Peter, the Pope. Cicero thus did not know that man does need an interpreter and expositor of the natural law, namely, the Catholic Church. Apart from this, however, Cicero understood that God's law does not admit of abrogations by a vote of the people or of a "representative" body, such as the Roman Senate in his day or the United States Congress or state legislatures, et al. in our own day.

Pope Pius XI explained in Divini Illius Magistri, December 31, 1929, the Natural Law is authoritatively explicated by Holy Mother Church even though it can be known by human reason and is thus not, unlike the Divine Positive Law, her exclusive possession:

The Church does not say that morality belongs purely, in the sense of exclusively, to her; but that it belongs wholly to her. She has never maintained that outside her fold and apart from her teaching, man cannot arrive at any moral truth; she has on the contrary more than once condemned this opinion because it has appeared under more forms than one. She does however say, has said, and will ever say, that because of her institution by Jesus Christ, because of the Holy Ghost sent her in His name by the Father, she alone possesses what she has had immediately from God and can never lose, the whole of moral truth, omnem veritatem, in which all individual moral truths are included, as well those which man may learn by the help of reason, as those which form part of revelation or which may be deduced from it  (Pope Pius XI, Divini Illius Magistri, December 31, 1929.)

A mother can never dispose of the fruit of her womb as she desires. She has an obligation before God to provide the love that is the child’s due. True justice is, after all, giving to each that which his is due.

There are no “decisions” to be made about a child, only selfless, unconditional love to be offered.

There are no “difficult choices” to be made, only a firm reliance upon Our Lady’s graces to provide all the supernatural and natural helps necessary to fulfill one’s maternal duties with the distinction of a saint and imitation of the Queen of All Saints, Our Lady herself.

Our first pope, Saint Peter, explained that we are not to use our liberty as a cloak for malice, and the direct, intentional killing of any innocent human being is act of malice:

Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, to refrain yourselves from carnal desires which war against the soul, [12] Having your conversation good among the Gentiles: that whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by the good works, which they shall behold in you, glorify God in the day of visitation. [13] Be ye subject therefore to every human creature for God's sake: whether it be to the king as excelling; [14] Or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of the good: [15] For so is the will of God, that by doing well you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

[16] As free, and not as making liberty a cloak for malice, but as the servants of God. [17] Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. [18] Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward. [19] For this is thankworthy, if for conscience towards God, a man endure sorrows, suffering wrongfully. [20] For what glory is it, if committing sin, and being buffeted for it, you endure? But if doing well you suffer patiently; this is thankworthy before God.

[21] For unto this are you called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example that you should follow his steps. [22] Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth. [23] Who, when he was reviled, did not revile: when he suffered, he threatened not: but delivered himself to him that judged him unjustly. [24] Who his own self bore our sins in his body upon the tree: that we, being dead to sins, should live to justice: by whose stripes you were healed. [25] For you were as sheep going astray; but you are now converted to the shepherd and bishops of your souls. (1 Peter 2: 11-25.)

Fourth, the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine has tried to defend the Hippocratic Oath, which forbade physicians to do anything to cause or induce an abortion, are being true to the father of modern medicine himself, Hippocrates:

I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.

I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.

Hippocrates forbade physicians from killing the unborn child and he forbade them to do anything to cause the death of anyone. Thus, in modern terms, human organ vivisection, which was the father to the lie that is “brain death,” which will be the subject once again of the next commentary on this site, suicide (and assisted suicide, physician-assisted suicide), euthanasia and “disguised” euthanasia (“palliative care,” hospice—see Chronicling the Adversary's Global Takeover of the Healthcare Industry).

Furthermore, the Roman playwright Juvenal, who lived in the early Second Century A.D. and was fierce hater of Christians, had this to say about the crime of the murder of innocent preborn children:

So great is the skill, so powerful the drugs, of the abortionist, paid to murder mankind within the womb. Ancient History Sourcebook: Juvenal: Satire VI 

Even a proto-feminist, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, who organized the first "women's rights" conference in Seneca Falls, New York, in 1848, referred to abortion as "disgusting and degrading crime," going on to write:

When you consider that women have been treated as property, it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit. (Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Letter to Julia Ward Howe, October 16, 1873, recorded in Howe's diary at Harvard University Library.)

Yes, it is possible by reason alone to come to recognize that a child, an innocent preborn human being, is the natural fruit of human conjugal relations. It is an accident if one falls down a flight of stairs. It is an accident if the motor vehicle one is driving goes out of control on an icy road. It is not an "accident" if a child is conceived as the result of human conjugal relations. To invade the sanctuary of the womb, therefore, in order to suck out, burn, slice or otherwise destroy a living human being is opposed to the very laws of nature itself. And if the child inside a mother's womb is not alive, why is it necessary to kill it? As to the child's humanity, you see, even secular science has proved that every fertilized embryonic human being has a distinctive DNA of his very own that does not change over the course of his life. All that is added, physically and temporally speaking, is time and nutrition.

As I said to an abortion advocate in a debate at Hofstra University, Hempstead, Long Island, New York, on the Feast of Saint Joseph, March 19, 1985:

"I will quit this debate right now if you can demonstrate to me which one of the cells in your body has a DNA structure different from the moment that you were conceived."

No true, objective biologist can deny the fact that a living, growing human being is created at the moment of fertilization. Ideologues can deny all arguments that can be advanced by means of reason and science, however, which is why arguing against abortion on the grounds of reason alone only takes one so far. Indeed, it is precisely because of naturalism that we have abortion-on-demand and in most other countries in the "developed" world today. Naturalistic arguments are not going to end abortion-on-demand, although the use of scientific facts and basic Natural Law reasoning can be useful as tools to help people to see through some of the illogic of the pro-death arguments. Such arguments are merely "building blocks," if you will, to lead people to accept the simple fact that it is God Himself Who has ordained these immutable facts of nature that do not depend upon human acceptance for their binding force or for their validity.

That the Supreme Court of the United States of America is institutionally blind to these truths is but the result, as noted above, of written Constitution that makes no note of Christ the King and the authority of His Catholic Church in the exercise of His Social Reign over men and their nations in all that pertains to the good of souls.

Fifth, writing for the unanimous Court, Brett Michael Kavanaugh not only overturned the decision rendered by the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit to avoid handling the case that it was duty bound as a matter of strict justice to uphold as it is incongruous to have held in 2022 that there is no “right” to baby butchery found in the Constitution of the United States of America and then to uphold a mere administrative decision facilitating baby butchery by open abortifacients (contraceptives are abortifacients, of course, but they are not advertised or marketed as such). This refusal is cowardly and morally irresponsible even if, in the likely judgment of the mercurial John Glover Roberts, its defenders hail its judicial “prudence” in an election year. There is nothing admirable about refusing to stop the direct, intentional killing of innocent human beings.

Sixth, rather than act courageously to defend the defenseless, Associate Justice Brett Michael Kavanaugh pointed to the fact that the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine could have recourse to petitioning the president or Congress or the general public to effect a change in the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the manufacture, marketing, and sale of the human pesticide as well as its more recent policies loosening restrictions on how it is prescribed and distributed:

The plaintiffs have sincere legal, moral, ideological, and policy objections to elective abortion and to FDA’s relaxed regulation of mifepristone. But under Article III of the Constitution, those kinds of objections alone do not establish a justiciable case or controversy in federal court. Here, the plaintiffs have failed to demonstrate that FDA’s relaxed regulatory requirements likely would cause them to suffer an injury in fact. For that reason, the federal courts are the wrong forum for addressing the plaintiffs’ concerns about FDA’s actions. The plaintiffs may present their concerns and objections to the President and FDA in the regulatory process, or to Congress and the President in the legislative process. And they may also express their views about abortion and mifepristone to fellow citizens, including in the political and electoral processes. (Food and Drug Administration v. Spare us your paternalistic, condescending civics lesson, Justice Kavanaugh. You know veryw ell that there have been twelve years of supposedly “pro-life” presidential administrations since the Food and Drug Administration authorized the marketing of RU-486, the human pesticide on September 28, 2000. Neither the administrations of President George Walker Bush, in which you served, nor that of President Donald John Trump chose to reverse the FDA’s dreadful decision.

That is, supposedly “pro-life” presidents, each of whom made “exceptions” to the binding precepts of the Fifth Commandment and fully supported the abortifacient that is contraception, did not see it important enough to spend political capital to protect babies from being killed by a death pill and their mothers from suffering the bodily and spiritual effects of administering a poisoned pill to their own children,

Does any rational, sane human being believe that Donald John Trump, who has been on a crusade in the past eighteen months supporting “exceptions,” the immoral practice of in vitro fertilization, and to defend the nonexistent “right” of the “people” to “decide” that which is beyond their ability to “decide,” namely, the inviolability of innocent human life, will direct the Food and Drug Administration to do in his putative second, nonconsecutive term what he failed to do in his first.

Stop dreaming.

Stop believing in the political equivalent of the tooth fairy.

Stop thinking that there is any political will on the part of Republicans in either House of the Congress of the United States of America or on the part anyone close to Donald John Trump to overturn the FDA’s decision approving the human pesticide.

To coin a phrase, sober up.

Many say that I am “unrealistic” to insist upon an uncompromising insistence on right principes as the foundation of governance and legal interpretation.

However, there is nothing more unrealistic than to keep hoping against hope in the princes of this world who have shown us repeatedly that they are hostile to any mention of being as uncompromising in the defense of truth as the members of the organized crime family of the false opposite of the naturalist “left” is in its defense of one moral evil after another that cries out to Heaven for vengeance.

Let me provide you with a bit of empirical proof to demonstrate the delusional nature of believing that supposedly “pro-life” politicians are defenders of truth when they are simply merchants of craven political expediency.

Consider, for example, the fact that the supposed “pro-life” Governor of Texas, George Walker Bush, said on October 3, 2000, that he would not reverse the United States Food and Drug Administration’s decision to place the human pesticide, RU-486, on the marketplace after over seven years of clinical trials that began soon after then President William Jefferson Blythe Clinton issued an executive order on January 22, 1993, ordering the Food and Drug Administration “to promptly assess initiatives … [to] promote the testing, licensing, and manufacturing in the United States … [of] antiprogestins.” It was about thirty months after Clinton’s executive order that The New York Times reported women were getting pregnant deliberately in order to test the human pesticide in the Food and Drug Administration’s “clinical” trials.

This is what Bush the Lesser said in his debate with then Vice President Arnold Albert Gore, Jr., in St. Louis, Missouri:

BUSH: I don't think a president can unilaterally overturn it. The FDA has made its decision.

MODERATOR: That means you wouldn't, through appointments, to the FDA and ask them to --

BUSH: I think once a decision has been made, it's been made unless it's proven to be unsafe to women.

GORE: Jim, the question you asked, if I heard you correctly, was would he support legislation to overturn it. And if I heard the statement day before yesterday, you said you would order -- he said he would order his FDA appointee to review the decision. Now that sounds to me a little bit different. I just think that we ought to support the decision.

BUSH: I said I would make sure that women would be safe who used the drug.  (2000 Debate Transcript) [Droleskey comment: Uh, Mister Former President, the President of the United States of America can make appointments to the Food and Drug Administration who could indeed overturn such a decision by means of an administrative fiat. Moreover, the human pesticide, RU-486, is lethal to babies, Mister Former President, and is not "safe" for women's bodies and is positively lethal to their immortal souls. ]

True to his cowardly word, President George Walker Bush never lifted a finger to reverse the Food and Drug Administration’s September 28, 2000, to permit the licensing and sale of the human pesticide, RU-486. Moreover, it was just six years later during his second term as President of the United States of America that the United States Food and Drug Administration permitted the over-the-counter so-called “emergency” contraceptive named “Plan B” even though it is also a poison pill that serves as an abortifacient:

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today announced approval of Plan B, a contraceptive drug, as an over-the-counter (OTC) option for women aged 18 and older. Plan B is often referred to as emergency contraception or the "morning after pill." It contains an ingredient used in prescription birth control pills--only in the case of Plan B, each pill contains a higher dose and the product has a different dosing regimen. Like other birth control pills, Plan B has been available to all women as a prescription drug. When used as directed, Plan B effectively and safely prevents pregnancy. Plan B will remain available as a prescription-only product for women age 17 and under.

Duramed, a subsidiary of Barr Pharmaceuticals, will make Plan B available with a rigorous labeling, packaging, education, distribution and monitoring program. In the CARE (Convenient Access, Responsible Education) program Duramed commits to:

Provide consumers and healthcare professionals with labeling and education about the appropriate use of prescription and OTC Plan B, including an informational toll-free number for questions about Plan B;

Ensure that distribution of Plan B will only be through licensed drug wholesalers, retail operations with pharmacy services, and clinics with licensed healthcare practitioners, and not through convenience stores or other retail outlets where it could be made available to younger women without a prescription;

Packaging designed to hold both OTC and prescription Plan B. Plan B will be stocked by pharmacies behind the counter because it cannot be dispensed without a prescription or proof of age; and

Monitor the effectiveness of the age restriction and the safe distribution of OTC Plan B to consumers 18 and above and prescription Plan B to women under 18.

Today's action concludes an extensive process that included obtaining expert advice from a joint meeting of two FDA advisory committees and providing an opportunity for public comment on issues regarding the scientific and policy questions associated with the application to switch Plan B to OTC use. Duramed's application raised novel issues regarding simultaneously marketing both prescription and non-prescription Plan B for emergency contraception, but for different populations, in a single package.

The agency remains committed to a careful and rigorous scientific process for resolving novel issues in order to fulfill its responsibility to protect the health of all Americans. (FDA Approves Over-the-Counter Access for Plan B for Women 18 and Over .) 

Eight years of the “pro-life” administration of President George Walker Bush, which was populated with all manner of pro-aborts, did nothing to stop baby-killing. Indeed, one of his appointees, the first Secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Thomas Ridge, a pro-abortion, pro-sodomite Catholic, ordered that annual inspections of abortuaries be halted when he was Governor of Pennsylvania, paving the way for Kermit Gosnell's house of butchery to operate without any kind of oversight whatsoever:

“Sometimes we [Republicans] just come across as too damned self-righteous, and I’m sorry, that’s just not the 21st century political party GOP that I think we need to govern America,” he said.

Tom Ridge, a two-term governor of Pennsylvania and the first Secretary of Homeland Security, made his remarks to the Log Cabin Republicans' Spirit of Lincoln dinner on October 23.

“Many Americans are outraged by the moralistic attacks on the gay and lesbian community from some within our party,” he said.

He decried “the narcissists and ideologues within our party” who promote an “offensive and exclusionary view,” as well as an “unacceptable rigidity and self-righteousness on social issues.”

Amidst those scathing remarks, Ridge bemoaned the modern “lack of civility and statesmanship.”

Pro-life activists, he said, “forget about separation of church and state” and engage in activities that are “consistent with what a church may propose but should not necessarily be at the epicenter of governing.”

He added that “God-fearing” people might support abortion and homosexuality. Opponents of those practices “should be more concerned about their own relationship with God,” quoting the admonition, “Judge not lest ye be judged.”

Ridge may be referring to himself. The Catholic has long supported abortion-on-demand and in February, he became one of 130 self-identifiedRepublican leaders who signed an amicus curiaebrief with the Supreme Court to support gay “marriage.”

So compelling was his commitment to a woman's “right to choose” that a grand jury laid the blame for Kermit Gosnell's “house of horrors” directly at his feet.

The Gosnell grand jury report stated, “With the change of administration from” pro-life Democratic Governor Bob “Casey to Governor Ridge” in 1995, “officials concluded that inspections would be ‘putting a barrier up to women’ seeking abortions. Better to leave clinics to do as they pleased, even though, as Gosnell proved, that meant both women and babies would pay.”

Despite a spate of warnings that Gosnell's abortion facility violated health and safety standards and state abortion laws, Gosnell was arrested only after officials learned he was selling prescription drugs to Philadelphia drug peddlers.

That record did not keep Ridge from giving a healthy dose of advice to his party.

A longtime advocate of amnesty for illegal immigrants, Ridge said the Republican Party must find a way to “legitimize” illegal immigrants or risk becoming a party of “just white males.”

He called for the GOP to become “a party worthy of the 21st century, a non-judgmental party” and “a more positive and compelling force for change.”

He allowed, “you can be an advocate in a private way for those points of view, but in my judgment, that’s not to be at the epicenter of your political agenda” and “certainly shouldn’t be...such a critical issue for the GOP nationally.”

While he lamented “there are Republicans out there who will be forever pro-life,” he told the homosexual group, they could be dealt with “perhaps by changing their rhetoric, if not their hearts.”

First he had to explain his own change of heart to the LGBT group, which supports gay “marriage” and hate crimes legislation.

“When I was governor, I signed the Defense of Marriage Act,” he said. “Since that time, frankly, my point of view has evolved.” 

In 1996, Ridge signed the state's marriage defense act that his successor, Tom Corbett, had had to defend in court. Despite their differences, Ridge promises to campaign for Corbett's re-election.

The 1996 law helped cement Ridge as an up-and-coming force in national politics two decades ago. He was touted as a possible running mate for Bob Dole in 1996.

President George W. Bush considered Tom Ridge as a possible vice president but balked because of Ridge's abortion views. He later appointed Ridge the first Secretary of Homeland Security after the 9/11 attacks.

After leaving the Bush administration, Ridge wrote a memoir insinuating that George W. Bush pressured him to change terror threat warnings for political reasons. However, the New York Times said he provided “no evidence that politics motivated the discussion,” leading columnist Michelle Malkin to label Ridge a"weasel."

In 2008, John McCain called Ridge “one of the great leaders” of his party, “and he happens to be pro-choice. And I don’t think that that would necessarily rule Tom Ridge out” as a vice presidential running mate, McCain said.

All three candidates settled for a pro-life running mate more amenable to the party faithful.

Aside from his emergence as a voice for the LGBT movement, Ridge's most recent appearance on the political stage has been less than flattering.

After Virginia Democratic candidate for governor Terry McAuliffe promised to keep subpar abortion facilities open, Steve Rossie of the Virginia-based Family Foundation said, “Remember, it was then-Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge who ignored the law in that state requiring abortion center inspections that allowed Gosnell to go unnoticed for years, harming untold numbers of women and children.”

George Walker Bush’s indifference to the inviolability of the daily slaughter of the preborn contrasted with his vigorous defense of the manner in which his unjust, immoral and unconstitutional invasion of Iraq was prosecuted despite the fact that tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis were killed. Bush has remained silent since leaving office about the horrors that his “regime change war” that was designed to “make the Mideast safe for America’s only ally” in the region, the Zionist State of Israel, visited upon Chaldean Rite Catholics and Orthodox Christians. His profligate spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and his equally profligate spending on statist programs in the name of “compassionate conservatism” ballooned the national debt, paving the way for a man who would double the national debt in his own perverted right, Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro.

As was the case with President William Jefferson Blythe Clinton, President Barack Hussein Obama/Barry Soetoro was relentless in his support of baby-killing. Relentless. Obama/Soetoro took full advantage of the fact that George Walker Bush let the human pesticide become marketed by refuse to order the overturn of the Food and Drug Administration’s September 28, 2000, decision by seeing to it that the time frame for the using of this poison pill may be expanded to permit more babies to be killed:

The Food and Drug Administration has relaxed the guidelines for taking a pill that induces abortion, reviving one of the most contentious issues of the abortion debate. The change allows women to use the drug further into pregnancy and with fewer visits to the doctor.

The announcement on Wednesday came unexpectedly in the final stretch of the Obama administration and amid an election campaign in which both parties covet the women’s vote. Some abortion opponents charged that the new regimen was politically motivated. The F.D.A. said its actions were based strictly on medical science.

The change was an unequivocal victory for abortion rights advocates who had been fighting laws in Texas, North Dakota and Ohio, among other states, that require doctors prescribing the pill to follow the directions on the F.D.A. label for using it, which had been more stringent.

The change brings the directions for taking the drug, mifepristone, in line with what has become standard medical practice in most states: reducing the dosage to 200 milligrams from 600 milligrams, decreasing the number of visits a woman must make to a doctor to two from three, and extending the period when she can take the pill to 10 weeks ofpregnancy from seven weeks.

The debate over the drug, formerly known as RU-486, has raged for decades, with abortion rights groups demanding access to it in the United States in the 1990s. Medication-induced abortions have increasingly been used to terminate pregnancies in recent years, and limiting access to them has become an important front in the anti-abortion movement. They made up as much as a quarter of all abortions in 2011, according to the most recent figures from the Guttmacher Institute, which tracks women’s reproductive health issues. Planned Parenthood said as many as half of eligible women in its clinics requested medication-induced abortions.

The original label on the drug was based on clinical evidence from the 1990s before the pill was approved in 2000. Doctors said that new evidence had emerged supporting lower doses, which have fewer side effects, and a longer period in which women could take the medication safely. In most states, doctors have been following the medically accepted regimen, even though the label advised otherwise, a fairly common medical practice known as off-label use.

“This is a major shift both in closing the gap between science and legal regulation and in enabling women to exercise their constitutional right to terminate a pregnancy,” said Suzanne B. Goldberg, a law professor at Columbia University who specializes in sexuality and gender law.

The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said in a statement that it was “pleased that the updated F.D.A.-approved regimen for mifepristone reflects the current available scientific evidence and best practices.”

Anti-abortion groups said that the change did nothing to improve safety for women, and that some women fell ill or died after taking the drug. (A spokeswoman for the company that makes the drug, Danco Laboratories, said there was no proof it caused the deaths.)

“It appears this has been done for the convenience and the profitability of the abortion industry,” said Randall O’Bannon, the director of education and research for the National Right to Life Committee.

Eric Scheidler, the executive director of the Pro-Life Action League, an anti-abortion group based in Chicago, said, “My first thought was that this is a bone that the Obama administration was throwing out there to their friends in the abortion lobby.”

The drug works by blocking receptors of progesterone, an important hormone in pregnancy. Women have to get the drug from a medical provider. They can also get another drug, misoprostol, in the same first visit to the provider, according to the new label. Together, the drugs induce miscarriage. The label still requires a “follow-up with the health care provider,” but some abortion rights advocates said that could be interpreted as a lab test or something that did not require a visit to a doctor.

Many states have passed laws to restrict the use of mifepristone since its F.D.A. approval. Some of them require medical professionals who administer the drug to be licensed physicians, rather than nurses or physician assistants. Many states also require the prescribing doctor to be present with the patient, a rule that abortion rights advocates say blocks women in rural areas from receiving the medication remotely.

Laws requiring physicians to adhere to the guidelines on the label have also passed in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Arizona, but have been blocked by court order.

It was not immediately clear what the change would mean for state laws and the future of the legal effort by anti-abortion groups. Kristi Hamrick, a spokeswoman for Americans United for Life, an organization that drafts model legislation seeking to regulate the drugs, said, “This is just Day 1, and so our lawyers are looking at it.” The F.D.A. said it had followed regulatory procedure in changing the label. Danco submitted an application last May, and the application was subject to a 10-month review period, which ended March 29, the agency said.

“Honestly, I think the timing was based on when the company put in the application for a label change, not based on election timing,” said Susan Wood, the director of the Jacobs Institute of Women’s Health at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University. “The F.D.A. just responded as part of their regulatory responsibilities, not on a political time frame.”

In Texas, abortion providers applauded the change.

“This will allow us to do two things immediately: Expand medical abortions up to 10 weeks of pregnancy, and cut out the unnecessary additional visit for the second dose of medication,” said Amy Hagstrom Miller, the president of Whole Woman’s Health, which has abortion facilities in five states including Texas and is the lead plaintiff in an abortion case before the Supreme Court.

More than 40 percent of patients at the group’s Texas clinics chose medication abortions before Texas passed a law in 2013, requiring, among other things, that doctors follow the F.D.A.’s protocol. Since then, only about 5 percent have, she said.

Dr. Raegan McDonald-Mosley, the chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, said the change would reduce confusion among patients who had to sign two sets of consent forms, one with the regimen recommended by much of medical science and one that detailed the requirements on the F.D.A. label.

“Now those two things are in sync,” she said. (New Rules Extend Time Frame for Human Pesticide.)

George Walker Bush’s first Secretary of Health and Human Services, Tommy Thompson, a Catholic, did nothing to demand the reversal of the decision made by the FDA during the final few months of his predecessor, Donna Shalala, who is a Maronite Rite Catholic, I would like to remind those with short memories. Tommy Thompson, who had been Governor of Wisconsin from January 5, 1987, to February 1, 2001, thereby helped to institutionalize the human pesticide as an ordinary part of the repertoire of available pills by which innocent preborn babies could be killed.

Here is what Mrs. Judie Brown said when Thompson said in his Senate confirmation hearings that he had heard nothing about the lethal effects of RU-486 (despite the fact that women have died and that the poison pill is absolutely deadly for innocent preborn children:

WASHINGTON, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- "Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson has denied the undeniable, and endorsed a chemical nightmare,"  said Judie Brown, president of American Life League.

On one of the nation's largest television news networks, Thompson said  "nobody has ... said that RU-486 is unsafe" (The Edge with Paula Zahn, FOX  News Channel, 4/17/01).   Thompson's statement is a direct contradiction of his previous promises to investigate the health risks of the RU-486 abortion  regimen, and it also flies in the face of congressional concerns.

Thompson said, "Until somebody calls in and says that it's unsafe or that it's something that has caused problems for -- for women, we will not be reviewing it, just like any other drug.  It's the same as other drugs that  have been approved.  And it has been approved in America, and therefore, until  it's proven or has any suggestion that it's unsafe, it will not be reviewed."

"For the record, Mr. Thompson," said Brown, "RU-486 always kills a preborn person, and FDA documents indicate that the second chemical in the RU-486  abortion regimen has caused cardiac failure, coronary artery occlusion, uterine perforation, uterine rupture, and on and on."  

Brown said RU-486 is a chemical killer. "Mr. Thompson, don't pretend that  you do not know this," she said.  "It is killing innocent preborn children, and it can kill women. Distribution of RU-486 must be halted immediately." (Tommy Thompson Endorses Human Pesticide, RU-486.)

Yes, yes, yes. The "pro-life" George Walker Bush administration. Yes, yes, yes.

This is one of the reasons that my eyes rolled and my blood pressure reached the boiling point at times in the first decade of the current century as sleepy, uninformed Catholics spoke in glowing terms of the “pro-life” Bush administration. George Walker Bush’s administration helped to institutionalize baby-killing just as much as had his predecessor, William Jefferson Blythe Clinton, had done. Those who did not see this during the Bush 43 administration permitted themselves to be lulled to sleep as they lived in fear of the supposedly "greater evil" that lurked always around the corner. Tell me, please, how Tommy Thompson was any different than Donna Shalala?

As far as I can remember—and my memory is still decent on such matters, no “bishop” of the counterfeit church of conciliarism ever upbraided Donna Shalala for her role in presiding over the Food and Drug Administration’s testing of RU-486 in the 1990s or for her decision to approve the FDA’s finding for its marketing on September 28, 2000, and no conciliar “bishop” in this country ever reprimanded Tommy Thompson for his refusal to reverse Shalala’s decision. Many of the American conciliar “bishops” have long, long enabled pro-aborts in the organized crime family of the false opposite of the naturalist “left,” and others among their apostate numbers have long, long provided cover for phony “pro-life” politicians in the organized crime family of the false opposite naturalist “right.”

Yes, baby-killing, whether by chemical or surgical means, has been enabled by the lords of conciliarism in the United States of America and throughout the rest of the world. Whatever “pro-life” rhetoric some of them used in the past was just as empty as that of the politicians with whom they have been aligned. This empty rhetoric—and the lack of sanctions imposed upon pro-abortion public officials—contributed mightily to creating a political and legal environment in which the chemical and surgical killing of the innocent preborn has become such an accepted fact of life that even supposed “pro-life” politicians take refuge in the “impossibility” of changing the law as to do so would to be anger a large number of voters. One can anger God, but one cannot anger voters in our Judeo-Masonic world of naturalism and Modernism.

This having been noted, It is very interesting that the FDA’s “revision” of the September 28, 2000, decision of the United States Food and Drug Administration was announced by United States Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Syliva Matthews Burwell on the day after Donald John Trump’s 2016 “town hall” session that was hosted by then seventy-one year-old lifelong Democratic Party activist and apologist, Christopher Matthews, a Catholic who graduated from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1967, made headlines as a result of the spur-of-the-moment answer that Trump gave when Matthews kept pushing him as to what kind of civil punishment should be meted out to women who kill their babies. Perhaps the timing of the FDA’s announcement had nothing to do with Trump’s remarks. Perhaps they did.  

One can always count on those who support evil without conditions or restrictions to take full advantage of the perceived “missteps” made by equivocal “pro-life” candidates for public office, especially missteps made by those who do not understand much about the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law, those who have never been trained in logic, those who are prone to folding like “cheap cameras” when the reaction to some unplanned statement causes a storm of protest.

Always eager to learn the wrong lessons, the hapless careerists within the organized crime family of the naturalist “right” flip-flopped over abortion in a variety of ways in 2008 and 2012, finding more and more inventive ways to appear to be “pro-life” in order to feed a few crumbs to the poor saps who believe that the party of the “lesser evil” will do less harm that the “greater evil” du jour, while being tongue-tied when challenged by reporters about the issue.

Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., and his Kamala Harris, who, it should be remembered prosecuted David Daleiden’s exposure of Planned Barrenhood’s selling of butchered babies’ bodily organs, are absolutely committed to evil while Donald John Trump is not only equivocally “pro-life” but is actively seeking to convert longtime pro-life activists to support contraception, “exceptions” to the binding precepts of the Fifth Commandment and, as noted above, in vitro fertilization.

Do not expect a second Trump administration to do what he failed to do in his first term, and don’t believe for one moment that Brett Michael Kavanaugh does not realize this fact which is why he gave the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine a course to political futility in a system that makes no room for the immutable truths of Divine Revelation and the Natural Law as they have been entrusted to and taught infallibly by Holy Mother Church.

Although the hour is very late, so late in fact that we may never live to see the restoration of all things in Christ the King during our lifetimes, we must continue, despite our own sins and failings, to plant the seeds for the conversion of men and their nations to Him and his true Catholic Church, which is not and can never be the heresy riddled conciliar sect that is replete with a so-called “pope” and “bishops” who celebrate the sins du jour with as much ready abandon as do the lords of the world and those who itching ears they always stand so ready to tickle.

We must take heed as we consider that, although He takes His time, God is just. Indeed, the seers of apparitions, on which, much like Our Lady’s apparitions in Garabandal, Spain, in 1961, Holy Mother Church has not ruled, in Heede, Germany, between 1937 during the height of Adolph Hitler’s so-called “Third Reich” were warned by Our Lady and then her Divine Son about the chastisements that human beings deserved for their wretched sins.

This what Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ told the seers at Heede in 1945 after His Most Blessed Mother had appeared to them between 1937 and 1940:

“Men have note listened to My Most Holy Blessed Mother when she appeared to them at Fatima, to exhort everyone to penitence. Now I, Myself, am coming in this last hour to warn and admonish mankind! The times are very serious! Men should at last do penance for their sins, turn away from their sins and pray, pray much in order the wrath of God may be mitigated. Particularly the Holy Rosary should be prayed very often. The Rosary is very powerful with God. Worldly pleasures and amusements should be restricted.

Men do not listen to My voice. They harden their hearts; they resist My grace. They do not wish to have anything to do with My Mercy, My Love, My merits. Mankind is worse than before the deluge. Mankind is suffocating in sin. Hatred and greed rule their hearts. This the work of the devil. They live in great darkness. All this is the work of satan. The world sleeps in a dense darkness…. This generation deserves to be annihilated but I desire to show Myself as Merciful.

Through the wounds that bled, Mercy will again gain victory over justice. My faithful souls should not be so asleep now like the disciples on Mount Olivet. They should pray without ceasing and gain all they can for themselves and for others.

Tremendous things are in preparation; it will be terrible as never before since the foundation of the world. All those who in these grave times have suffered so much, are martyrs and form the seed for the renovation of the Church. There were privileged to participate in My captivity, in My scourging, in My crown of thorns, and My Way of the Cross.

The Blessed Virgin Mary and the choirs of angels will active during these events. Hell believe that it is sure of the harvest, but I will snatch it away from them. I will come with My peace. Many curse me now, but these sufferings will come over mankind that they may be saved through it … Many expiate all they can for those who curse me Me now …

With a few faithful I will build up my Kingdom. As a flash of lightning this Kingdom will come … much faster than mankind will realize. I will give them a special light. For some this light will be a blessing; for others darkness. The light will come like the Star that showed the way to the wise men. Lest the skeptic doubt whether it is worthwhile to reflect on the apparitions of Our Lady and her Divine Son at Heede, Germany, it is good to consider what has been written in their defense:

It has been falsely reported that the Vatican rejected or even condemned the apparitions of Heede. While there has been no formal judgment issued about the apparitions or message, the Bishop of Osnabrück received a favorable report from two priests he sent to investigate. It was only after wonderful cures occurred that the parish priests and other clergy supported the seers (forbidding a public dance announced for October 21, 1945, in response to their warnings). A new parish priest, appointed by the Bishop at the time the apparitions commenced, declared that there are “undeniable proofs of the seriousness and authenticity of these manifestations.” Pilgrimages and devotions in honor of Our Lady of Heede have always been freely permitted. The history of the apparitions and messages has appeared in numerous publications bearing the Imprimatur of various bishops. Great caution is required on the part of the faithful, however, because of the flood of allegations of apparitions and supernatural messages plaguing the world these days. These phony apparitions almost always contradict the true Catholic Faith in some way. But in the apparitions and messages of Heede we find nothing contrary to the Faith; indeed, their similarity to the approved apparitions of Fatima, Lourdes and La Salette give good. I think that the content of the message that the seers at Heede received from Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is quite valid, and it is even more relevant to our times today that they were given between 1937 and 1945, especially since Our Lord Himself warned a seer, Greta Ganseforth, about a dance that was to take place at school in Heede:

There was an occasion when a school dance was being prepared which apparently was going to exceed Catholic norms for modesty and decency. At the request of Jesus, Greta sought to have the dance cancelled or at least modified so that it would not be a dangerous occasion of sin for the youth. Greta even appealed to the parents of the students to not go against the warning from Jesus, who stated:

“If they proceed with that dance, all involved will have to answer to Me at their Judgment.” (cf. Queen of the Universe, Heede, Germany, 1937-1945.)

“Rock for Life,” anyone?

I do not think so, and the danced schedule to take place in Heede, Germany, in 1945 was about eight years or so before the appearance of the diabolical disturbance of the soul called “rock and roll” and its various mutations, each of which come straight from hell.

The narrative proceeds:

The dance for October 21, 1945, was cancelled. Along with this event and a number of other miraculous healings, other priests and clergymen finally believed. (cf. Queen of the Universe, Heede, Germany, 1937-1945.)

It had been three years previously that Bishop Hermann Wilhelm Berning, the Prefect of Schleswig -Holstein, “made the following remarks” during a sermon delivered on July 23, 1942:

“From Heede came a rich blessing. I could see that Marian devotion dramatically increased—that sacramental life, in particular, has flourished dramatically in this parish.” (cf. Queen of the Universe, Heede, Germany, 1937-1945.)

I believe that the warning of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ should sober us up from believing that there is anything short of Catholicism that can retard the evils of these days, evils that are caused what are in the objective order of things the Actual Sins of Men, leaving subjective culpability for them to God, Who alone judges individual souls, in world that has been deprived of the true teaching offices of Holy Mother Church and is devoid of the superabundance of Actual Graces caused by the spiritual barrenness of the conciliar sect’s abominable liturgical rites.

Indeed, most Catholics have never even heard of, no less read, this beautiful and moving summary of Catholic truth found in Pope Leo XIII's Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900, that has been oft quoted on this site:

We have but too much evidence of the value and result of a morality divorced from divine faith. How is it that, in spite of all the zeal for the welfare of the masses, nations are in such straits and even distress, and that the evil is daily on the increase? We are told that society is quite able to help itself; that it can flourish without the assistance of Christianity, and attain its end by its own unaided efforts. Public administrators prefer a purely secular system of government. All traces of the religion of our forefathers are daily disappearing from political life and administration. What blindness! Once the idea of the authority of God as the Judge of right and wrong is forgotten, law must necessarily lose its primary authority and justice must perish: and these are the two most powerful and most necessary bonds of society. Similarly, once the hope and expectation of eternal happiness is taken away, temporal goods will be greedily sought after. Every man will strive to secure the largest share for himself. Hence arise envy, jealousy, hatred. The consequences are conspiracy, anarchy, nihilism. There is neither peace abroad nor security at home. Public life is stained with crime.  (Pope Leo XIII, Tametsi Futura Prospicientibus, November 1, 1900.)

Having made war against the Social Reign of Christ King by its embrace of "religious liberty" and "healthy secularity--and blasphemed Him by means of the Protestant and Masonic Novus Ordo worship service, the counterfeit church of conciliarism has actually fed into the social evils it seeks to oppose as it robs Catholics yet attached to its structures of the means by which they can see the world clearly through the eyes of the true Faith and thus come to a recognition that we must be uncompromisingly Catholic in thought, word and speech at a times and in all circumstances without any exception whatsoever. The conciliarists have robbed Catholics of the ability to look that the following statement of Pope Saint Pius X and to recognize the truth contained therein:

By separating fraternity from Christian charity thus understood, Democracy, far from being a progress, would mean a disastrous step backwards for civilization. If, as We desire with all Our heart, the highest possible peak of well being for society and its members is to be attained through fraternity or, as it is also called, universal solidarity, all minds must be united in the knowledge of Truth, all wills united in morality, and all hearts in the love of God and His Son Jesus Christ. But this union is attainable only by Catholic charity, and that is why Catholic charity alone can lead the people in the march of progress towards the ideal civilization.. . .

Here we have, founded by Catholics, an inter-denominational association that is to work for the reform of civilization, an undertaking which is above all religious in character; for there is no true civilization without a moral civilization, and no true moral civilization without the true religion: it is a proven truth, a historical fact. (Pope Saint Pius X, Notre Charge Apostolique, August 15, 1910.)

It is essential that Catholics come to recognize that the remote cause of all problems, whether personal or social, is Original Sin and that the proximate cause for our social problems today is Modernity's warfare against the Incarnation and thus against the Social Reign of Christ the King, a warfare that has been aided and abetted by conciliarism's warfare against the necessity of restoring Christendom as the foundation, although never an absolute guarantor, of course, of personal and social order.

Each family should, however, find some time today to pray an extra set of mysteries of the Rosary if possible to pray in reparation for abortion, both chemical and surgical, and for the conversion of those of who have had, performed, participated in or been supportive of abortion in any way, shape or form, remembering also to pray for the day that the United States of America will become the Catholic States of America. God will never "bless" a land that is responsible for the shedding of so much innocent blood under cover of law, a land that has spread, in the name of "civil and religious liberty," mind you, Protestant "churches" and Masonic "lodges" in formerly Catholic countries, taking many souls out of the true Church in the process, a country that has spread fashions and "entertainment" fare that have been responsible for the poisoning of so many souls

While it is important to continue to be a peaceful, prayerful presence in front of the abortuaries as we pray our Rosaries alongside our fellow traditional Catholics (we cannot participate in Catholic "ecumenical" events where the false "luminous mysteries" are prayed) and to do the work of sidewalk counseling for those who are so called, it is necessary first and foremost to build up the Kingship of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in our own souls, seeking to making reparation for our own many sins, especially those, if any, against the virtues of Chastity and Modesty, as the precondition for helping to plant a few seeds for the restoration for His Social Reign over us and our nations.

In addition to our daily Rosaries and the acts of reparation we make to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, who better to turn do in our efforts to restore the Faith in this time of barbarism in the world and apostasy and betrayal on the part of the Modernists than to our beloved Saint Joseph, the Patron of the Universal Church and the Protector of the Faithful:

O Blessed Saint Joseph, tenderhearted father, faithful guardian of Jesus, chaste spouse of the Mother of God, we pray and beseech thee to offer to God the Father, His divine Son, bathed in blood on the cross for sinners, and through the thrice-holy Name of Jesus, obtain for us from the eternal Father the favor we implore (mention your petitions):

Appease the Divine anger so justly inflamed by our crimes, beg of Jesus mercy for thy children. Amid the splendors of eternity, forget not the sorrows of those who suffer, those who pray, those who weep; stay the Almighty arm which smites us, that by thy prayers and those of thy most holy Spouse, the Heart of Jesus may be moved to pity and to pardon. Amen.

No, Christ the King must reign in our minds, not naturalism of the "left" or naturalism of the "right" or the naturalism of "populism," whether inchoate or fully developed. The "people" are not sovereign. Christ the King is sovereign. Everything else is a lie and an illusion

The Rome of the pagan emperors was not converted at the ballot box. It was converted by the missionary activity of the Apostles and those who followed them, over thirteen millions of whom shed their blood in defense of the Holy Faith.

 Why do we think the conversion of the modern civil state will take any less than that? Why do we think that we are exempt from suffering for the Faith?

Why do we even think that we deserve some respite from the inexorable growth of the size and power of the modern civil state that is has arisen in the wake of the overthrow of the Social Reign of Christ the King?

This is why we must fulfill that part of Our Lady's Fatima Message that we are able to fulfill, praying as many Rosaries each day as our states-in-life permit to make reparation for our sins and those of the whole world, being willing to suffer gladly anything and everything that we are asked to suffer for the restoration of the Church Militant on earth and for the restoration of Christendom in the world. Our Lady wants to protect us in the folds of her mantle in these troubling times.

Will we let her?

Will we run to her as we renew daily our total consecration to her Divine Son through her own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart?

The following words of Pope Leo XIII, contained in Sapientiae Christianae, January 10, 1890, should give us cause before we continue to rush into the insanity of listening the naturalist babblers babble on and on about "issues" that they do not understand clearly or fully because they believe in one naturalist falsehood after another:

Nor can such misgivings be removed by any mere human effort, especially as a vast number of men, having rejected the Christian faith, are on that account justly incurring the penalty of their pride, since blinded by their passions they search in vain for truth, laying hold on the false for the true, and thinking themselves wise when they call "evil good, and good evil," and "put darkness in the place of light, and light in the place of darkness." It is therefore necessary that God come to the rescue, and that, mindful of His mercy, He turn an eye of compassion on human society. (Pope Leo XIII, Sapientiae Christianae, January 10, 1890.)

What can be a better description of the Protestant and Judeo-Masonic constitutional regime in the United States of America?

May the Rosaries we pray this day help to make reparation for the crimes of the baby-killers as well as for those of whose continue to kill the life of the soul and thus made more possible the daily war against all innocent human life, whether in the womb by means of chemical and surgical baby-killing or by the killing off of anyone after birth under the aegis of "brain death" or in the name of "compassion" by means of "palliative care." 

We can plant the seeds for the conversion of men and their nations to the true Faith, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order.

We had better take heed of the warnings issued in Heede, Germany, and to be ever read to see beyond the headlines and thus to at everything through the supernatural eyes of the Holy Faith.
