Antichrist Continues To Have His Way With Believing Catholics, part two
Most people alive today live in various worlds of fantasy and escape.
We are governed by lawless men and women, most of whom ignore the binding precepts of the Divine Positive Law and the Natural Law, to say nothing of scoffing at silly little things such as constitutions and civil statutes that they do not believe are impediments to the pursuit of their ideological agendas.
Yet it is that most citizens do not care about this lawlessness. As has been noted in so many articles on this site in the past, including Do Not Expect Justice From Those Who Are Unjust, part one and Do Not Expect Injustice From Those Who Are Unjust, part two, no believing Catholic should be in the least bit surprised by this fact as most people alive today are completely indifferent to the daily slaughter of the innocent preborn. Even those who say that they are concerned about it go about their daily lives by immersing themselves in the bread and circuses of the day, including the agitation caused by competitive sports and partisan politics, without seeing a “disconnect” between their inordinate interest in diversions and amusements that have become so engrossing in recent decades as to take away one’s focus from First and Last Things.
The very saint whose feast we celebrated on Monday, October 17, 2016, Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, the saint of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, warned about the vain amusements of the day:
O Divine Heart of Jesus, inexhaustible Source of love and goodness, ah! how I regret that I have forgotten Thee too much and loved Thee so little! O Sacred Heart, Thou dost merit the reverence and love of all hearts which Thou hast cherished so much and laid under infinite obligations. And yet Thou dost receive from the greater number nothing but ingratitude and coldness, and especially from my own heart which merits Thy just indignation. But Thy Heart is all full of goodness and mercy, and of this I wish to avail myself to obtain reconciliation and pardon. O Divine Heart, I grieve intensely when I see myself guilty of such cowardice and when I consider the ungrateful conduct of my wicked heart, which has so unjustly stolen the love that it owes to Thee and bestowed it on myself or on vain amusements.
Although eminently predictable, it is nevertheless so disheartening to see Catholics wrapped up in the agitation of political farce, which has been designed from its very beginning to accustom Catholics to accept the “lesser of two evils” as the “best” we can expect and to make even any discussion of the greater good to be tantamount to “rooting” for the supposed “greater of two evils,” a point made by Hugh Akins in Synagogue Rising:
Discussion of the "lesser evil" brings to the fore the question of the tolerance of evil. Pope Leo writes: "But to judge aright, we must acknowledge that, the more a state is driven to tolerate evil, the further is it from perfection; and that the tolerance of evil which is dictated by political prudence should be strictly confined to the limits which its justifying cause, the public welfare, requires. Wherefore, if such tolerance would be injurious to be the public welfare, and entail greater evils on the state, it would not be lawful; for such case the motive of is wanting." (Pope Leo XIII, Libertas Praestantissimum, June 20, 1888.)
Bp. [Geraldo de Proenca] Sigaud [the Bishop of Jacarezinho, Parana, Brazil, from January 1, 1947, to December 20, 1960, and the Archbishop of Diamantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil, from December 20, 1960, to September 10, 1960] gives fair warning about how the Revolution infiltrates and permeates the Church and Christian society through the "lesser evil" tactic. "Among the many ways the Revolution permeates surreptitiously into the stronghold of the Church, the first door is called the 'lesser evil.' This tactic may be compared with the famous Trojan Horse. Catholic doctrine teaches that if we cannot avoid some evil we may choose to permit some lesser evil in order to avoid the greater evil on condition we do not directly commit evil ourselves.
"[HOWEVER]...
"(1) The liberals think a lesser evil is a small evil that is not worth fighting against;
"(2) Very many Catholics and even priests are of the opinion that conflict harms the Church as if She were not by Her very nature militant. This is why they allow evil to occupy without combating it under the pretext of prudence, charity, and apostolic diplomacy.
"(3) THEY DO NOT REALIZE THAT EVIL--EVEN A LESSER EVIL-IS ALWAYS AN EVIL, and that is why they do not seek to limit or suppress it. They live daily with the"lesser evil" and thus they forget the greater good as something horrible. For example, the separation of Church and State and that divorce be allowed among Catholics." (Bishop Geraldo de Proenca Sigaud, as cited by Hugh Akins in Synagogue Rising.)
Another example, of course, and no bout the more grievous one, is in lending invaluable support and assistance by means of backing the "lesser evil," to the Synagogue of Satan in its total war against the Mystical Body of Christ. Some Catholics who've made a habit of voting the "lesser evil" will continue to do so until they vote into office, on the world scene, the Antichrist himself, who being wholly sanitized by the corrupt Zionist-controlled media, will be portrayed before the unsuspecting peoples of earth as the most moderate and hopeful, least radical and most compassionate, and least corrupt candidate, compared to the raving lunatics competing with him. Antichrist could just as easily be a Republican conservative, a Christian Zionist, a Masonic "anti-Communist," even a Conciliarist "Catholic" wholeheartedly endorsed by the pope in Rome. He might even present himself a "traditionalist," cheered on by the many "lesser evil" traditionalists who see-no-evil in the likes of Benedict, Bush, McCain, Santorum, Gingrich, the Talmud, Israel, Zionism or Holaucastism.
It is by this shameless compromising that evil is ever moving forward, every advancing, ever conquering. "All tepidity and every thoughtless compromise," says Pius XII, "all pusillanimity and every vacillation between good and evil...all that, and all that can be added to it. has been and is a deplorable contribution to the evil which today is shaking world." (Pope Pius XII, radio message Ancora ua quinta volta, to the world, December 24, 1943, quote in Directives to Lay Apostles.) (Hugh Akins, Synagogue Rising, Catholic Action Resource Center, 2012, pp. 694.695.)
We have reached a point where even believing Catholics suspend all rationality in order to maintain an all-too-furtive “hope” that “things will get better” if only the “lesser evil” of the moment vanquishes the supposedly “greater evil.” Even though Catholics should have been disabused of this nonsense by the war-mongering, budget-busting and anti-life policies of George Walker Bush administration, there are so things so completely ingrained in the American psyche than to believe that the farce of electoral politics in a country founded on Protestant and Judeo-Masonic principles actually is going to make it more possible to pursue the common temporal good than would otherwise be the case.
As has been noted before, this is not to minimize the abject evils that will occur once Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton is sworn in as the forty-fifth President of the United States of America on January 20, 2017.
Associate Justice Clarence has already signaled to friends that he is tired of being in the minority on the Supreme Court of the United States of America, stating that he just wants to tour the country in his recreational vehicle. It is possible that he will retire effective the end of the Court’s current term sometime around June 30, 2017.The most senior Associate Justice, the nefarious Anthony MacLeod Kennedy, may do so as well after twenty-nine years on the Court, and it is entirely probable that the aged agent of the devil named Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her partner in constitutional crimes. Stephen Breyer, will also retire soon in order to permit President Clinton II to pack the Court for a generation or more unless the one hundredth anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun puts an end to this chastisement. Barring such a miracle, though, one can be assured that Republican senators, eager to show their willingness to be “bipartisan” with the first woman president, will vote to confirm each of her nominees to the Federal judiciary without complaint.
Moreover, President Clinton II will pursue a relentless persecution of pro-life Americans and of anyone and everyone who disagrees with anything about her agenda, which will include ending the pretense of the American border with Mexico in order to welcome immigrants, who will be naturalized by presidential fiat in order to make them eligible to vote in the 2018 midterm Congressional elections, not that being an illegal immigrant will be an impediment to voting on November 8, 2016, in this year’s election.
To amplify this point, it should be noted that the notorious United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco, California, has ordered crisis pregnancy centers to provide information about surgical abortion to expectant mothers:
October 14, 2016 (PregnancyHelpNews) — Non-profit medical clinics that exist to provide life-affirming alternatives to abortion in the state of California will be forced to promote abortion or face severe financial consequences, after the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the state’s so-called “Reproductive FACT Act” Friday.
Signed into law Oct. 9, 2015, by Gov. Jerry Brown, the act went into effect Jan. 1, 2016, but has been largely unenforced while municipalities waited out a series of lawsuits challenging the law’s alleged infringement on free speech rights guaranteed by the Constitution’s First Amendment. This is the fifth time a challenge has been turned away by the courts starting last December.
The law specifies that 75 pro-life pregnancy centers offering ultrasounds — all of which are state-licensed entities that operate completely free of taxpayer funds — post or disseminate a state-mandated disclaimer notifying women in unexpected pregnancies of state-covered abortions and contraception offered through Medi-Cal.
Most urgently, the clinics are required to violate their deeply held religious beliefs by giving their patients the phone number of a county social services agency where they can obtain an abortion — a requirement the centers say amounts to an abortion referral.
Meanwhile, as many as 100 community-funded pregnancy centers that do not offer free ultrasound services will be compelled to post and disseminate a statement notifying clients and even website visitors that they do not offer medical services — a stipulation similar to a 2009 Baltimore law that was struck down as unconstitutional.
So far, the only known instances of the law’s enforcement have occurred in Los Angeles, where city attorney Mike Feuer has leveraged an obscure law that mandates current signage for local business to force pregnancy medical clinics to comply.
“It’s bad enough if the government tells you what you can’t say, but a law that tells you what you must say—under threat of severe punishment—is even more unjust and dangerous,” Matt Bowman, senior counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom, which argued the case before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals via National Institute of Family and Life Advocates v. Harris this June and successfully defended nonprofit pregnancy help organizations in Baltimore, as well as Montgomery County (Md.), Austin (Texas), and New York City.
Bowman had expressed hope for the California law to be overturned after a summary judgment effectively spelled the end of Baltimore’s attempt to force pregnancy centers in its city to post signage in late September.
A similar law is on the books in Illinois, where it is slated to go into effect Jan. 1, 2017. In the case of the Illinois law, pro-life medical professionals of every stripe will be required not only to counsel as to the “benefits” of abortion, but be prepared to provide each client with an updated list of abortion providers.
Heartbeat International, a network of 2,000 pregnancy help locations, has affiliates in both California and Illinois, the latter of which president Jor-El Godsey has urged to refuse to comply with the state’s demands.
In California, where the state law requires pregnancy clinics to refer to the county social services agency rather than directly to an abortion provider, there is slightly more room for pregnancy help organizations to comply with the law. Several local pro-life efforts have said they will refuse to post the signage, despite pressure from the state. The penalty for refusing to comply with the law is $500 for the first offense, and $1,000 per subsequent offense.
Regardless of how each local organization plans to move forward in California, the intent of chilling free speech and free exercise of religion is just as blatant as it is in Illinois, says Godsey.
“It is a devastating reality that lawmakers in California are so beholden to the abortion industry they would be willing to trample on the constitutional rights of their own citizens to promote a culture of death over a culture of choice and life,” Godsey said. “The refusal of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn this wicked law sets a dangerous precedent for anyone who would speak an unpopular message in our society.”
Thomas Glessner, who serves as president of the Institute for Family and Life Advocates (NIFLA), the named plaintiff in the lawsuit against the state’s attorney general, Kamala Harris, said that even in spite of the loss in the 9th Circuit, legal remedies still exist to keep the state from imposing its will on pro-life centers.
“It is unfortunate, but not surprising, that the liberal Ninth Circuit Court three-judge panel upheld California's violation of federal law, the U.S. Constitution, and human rights," Glessner said. "The 'Reproductive FACT Act' forces pregnancy resource centers and medical clinics to violate consciences, free speech, and religious beliefs. This violation of the foundational roots of the American Republic will not stand.
"This battle is far from over." (No Goodnik Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Rules California Pregnancy Centers Must Promote Abortion.)
Unfortunately for Mr. Thomas Glessner, the “foundational roots of the American Republic” are responsible for bringing us to this point of moral decay. A system based on the belief that men do not need the teaching authority of the true Church that Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ founded upon the Rock of Peter, the Pope, and that men can be virtuous without having belief in, access to and cooperation with Sanctifying Graces is bound to decay over the course of time. Religious indifferentism leads to the triumph of barbarism, and we are living in truly barbaric times, and a man who has lived as a barbarian while speaking in barbaric terms, Donald John Trump, would be powerless to stop the tide of evil as he has profited immensely from it and is clueless about its dangers to the souls of men and to the fate of their nations.
To be sure, of course, the rate of this decay has accelerated in recent decades because there is a dearth of a superabundance of Sanctifying and Actual Graces in the world as a result of the sacramental barrenness of the counterfeit church of conciliarism’s liturgical rites. Indeed, the only reason that the false principles of the American founding did not manifest the perfection of their inherent degeneracy prior to now was that there existed a plethora of validly ordained priests offering the true Mass of the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church. The floodgates of hell in the United States of America were held back by the Catholic Church and her true priests, and they were opened when the counterfeit church of conciliarism made its “official reconciliation” with the anti-Incarnational principles of Modernity at the “Second” Vatican Council.
Antichrist continues to have his way with believing Catholics in the United States of America as most of them do not recognize or want to admit that their country has been headed to the abyss from the very beginning.
Perhaps much more to the point, however, is the fact that many “traditionally-minded” and “conservative” Catholics who are attached to the structures of the counterfeit church of conciliarism in the false belief that it is the true Catholic Church, which it is not, do not want to recognize or accept the fact that the conciliar “popes” and their “bishops” are responsible for worsening the state of souls and of the world by their open embrace of the very errors of Protestantism that made possible the rise of the monstrous Judeo-Masonic civil state of Modernity. This has made it all the more possible for Antichrist and his nefarious forces to convince them that they can “turn things around” electorally even though most of their co-religionists in the conciliar structures are immersed quite happily in lives of moral relativism. It is very difficult to “turn things around” when the majority of Catholics, especially the young, have been the products of over fifty years of false catechetical instructions in schools, religious miseducation programs, colleges and universities—and from the lectern where their presbyters have given heretical “homilies” that they are incapable of recognizing as such.
Distracted by all of the agitation of bread and circuses and content with the false belief that “things will be get better,” most Catholics in the world today are oblivious to the daily rantings of the false “pontiff,” Jorge Mario Bergoglio, as the latter openly preaches heresy, including his oft-repeated belief that Protestants and Catholics belong to the same church. Bergoglio said this yet again when addressing Lutherans on the ninety-ninth anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun, Thursday, October 13, 2016, the Feast of Saint Edward the Confessor, in advance of his trip to Lund, Sweden, on October 31, 2016, the Vigil of All Saints, to start the quincentennial year of Father Martin Luther’s revolution against the Catholic Church:
Dear friends,
I am very happy to meet you on the occasion of your ecumenical pilgrimage, it started from the land of Luther, Germany, and ended here at the seat of the Bishop of Rome. I address a cordial greeting to the Bishops who have accompanied you and thank you for supporting this wonderful initiative.
We give thanks to God because today, we Lutherans and Catholics, are walking on the road that leads from conflict to communion. We have come together already an important part of the way. Along the way we experience mixed feelings: grief for the division that still exists between us, but also joy for fraternity already found. Your enthusiastic presence in such large numbers is a clear sign of this fraternity, and fills us with the hope that it will continue to increase mutual understanding.
The Apostle Paul tells us that, by virtue of our baptism, we all form the one Body of Christ. The different members, in fact, are one body. This is why we belong to each other and when one suffers, all suffer, when one rejoices, all rejoice (cf. 1 Cor 12.12 to 26). Let us continue with confidence on our ecumenical journey, because we know that, beyond the many open questions that still separate us, we are already united. What unites us is much more than what divides us! (Jorge Speaks to Lutherans on "Unity".)
Interjection Number One:
Blatant heresy:
Actually only those are to be included as members of the Church who have been baptized and profess the true faith, and who have not been so unfortunate as to separate themselves from the unity of the Body, or been excluded by legitimate authority for grave faults committed. "For in one spirit" says the Apostle, "were we all baptized into one Body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether bond or free." As therefore in the true Christian community there is only one Body, one Spirit, one Lord, and one Baptism, so there can be only one faith. And therefore, if a man refuse to hear the Church, let him be considered - so the Lord commands - as a heathen and a publican. It follows that those who are divided in faith or government cannot be living in the unity of such a Body, nor can they be living the life of its one Divine Spirit. (Pope Pius XII, Mystici Corporis, June 29, 1943.)
Contray to this, however, Jorge Mario Bergoglio believes that everyone is part of "the church," which is true if one is referring to the church of the adversary, who is the driving force behind his relentless effort to strip away the last bastions of anything remotely recognizable as part of Catholic Faith, Worship, and Morals. He hates Catholic doctrine with a diabolical fervor, and he is unashamed in condemning those who hold to its holy integrity. He is openly brazen in his efforts to reaffirm non-Catholics in their false religions.
Back to Jorge's speech to the Lutherans:
At the end of this month, God willing, I will go to Lund, in Sweden, and together with the Lutheran World Federation, we will remember, after five centuries, beginning of Luther's reform and thank the Lord for fifty years of official dialogue between Lutherans and Catholics. An essential part of this commemoration will turn our gaze towards the future, with a view to a common Christian witness in the world today, which so thirsts for God and His mercy. The witness that the world expects from us is mainly that of making visible the mercy that God has toward us through service to the poor, the sick, those who have left their homeland to seek a better future for themselves and for loved ones. In being of service to the most needy we experience already that we are united: it is the mercy of God that unites us.
Dear young people, I encourage you to be witnesses of mercy. While theologians carry on the dialogue in the doctrinal field, keep looking insistently for opportunities to encounter each other, to know each other better, to pray together and offer help to each other and to all those who are in need. Thus, free from prejudice and trusting only the Gospel of Jesus Christ, announcing peace and reconciliation, you will be the real protagonists of a new season of this journey, which, with God's help, will lead to full communion. I assure you of my prayers – and you, please pray for me, for I need your prayers so much. Thank you! (Jorge Speaks to Lutherans on "Unity".)
Final Interjection:
Writing to Protestants one year before the start of the [First] Vatican Council, Pope Pius IX explained that Protestants had to leave their haze of errors as he inivited to do that which the conciliar "popes," including the Argentine Apostate, have said is unnecessary: to convert unconditionally to the true Church, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order:
It is for this reason that so many who do not share 'the communion and the truth of the Catholic Church' must make use of the occasion of the Council, by the means of the Catholic Church, which received in Her bosom their ancestors, proposes [further] demonstration of profound unity and of firm vital force; hear the requirements [demands] of her heart, they must engage themselves to leave this state that does not guarantee for them the security of salvation. She does not hesitate to raise to the Lord of mercy most fervent prayers to tear down of the walls of division, to dissipate the haze of errors, and lead them back within holy Mother Church, where their Ancestors found salutary pastures of life; where, in an exclusive way, is conserved and transmitted whole the doctrine of Jesus Christ and wherein is dispensed the mysteries of heavenly grace.
It is therefore by force of the right of Our supreme Apostolic ministry, entrusted to us by the same Christ the Lord, which, having to carry out with [supreme] participation all the duties of the good Shepherd and to follow and embrace with paternal love all the men of the world, we send this Letter of Ours to all the Christians from whom We are separated, with which we exhort them warmly and beseech them with insistence to hasten to return to the one fold of Christ; we desire in fact from the depths of the heart their salvation in Christ Jesus, and we fear having to render an account one day to Him, Our Judge, if, through some possibility, we have not pointed out and prepared the way for them to attain eternal salvation. In all Our prayers and supplications, with thankfulness, day and night we never omit to ask for them, with humble insistence, from the eternal Shepherd of souls the abundance of goods and heavenly graces. And since, if also, we fulfill in the earth the office of vicar, with all our heart we await with open arms the return of the wayward sons to the Catholic Church, in order to receive them with infinite fondness into the house of the Heavenly Father and to enrich them with its inexhaustible treasures. By our greatest wish for the return to the truth and the communion with the Catholic Church, upon which depends not only the salvation of all of them, but above all also of the whole Christian society: the entire world in fact cannot enjoy true peace if it is not of one fold and one shepherd. (Pope Pius IX, Iam Vos Omnes, September 13, 1868.)
It was a mere sixty years after Pope Pius IX issued Iam Vos Omnes as an exhortation for Protestants to convert to the true Church, outside of which there is no salvation and without which there can be no true social order, that Pope Pius XII issued a similar exhortation while reminding the bishops of the world that the only way that “the union for Christians can only be promoted by promoting the return to the one true Church of Christ of those wo are separated from it and not by Catholics participating in the assemblies of non-Catholics”:
So, Venerable Brethren, it is clear why this Apostolic See has never allowed its subjects to take part in the assemblies of non-Catholics: for the union of Christians can only be promoted by promoting the return to the one true Church of Christ of those who are separated from it, for in the past they have unhappily left it. To the one true Church of Christ, we say, which is visible to all, and which is to remain, according to the will of its Author, exactly the same as He instituted it. . . . Let, therefore, the separated children draw nigh to the Apostolic See, set up in the City which Peter and Paul, the Princes of the Apostles, consecrated by their blood; to that See, We repeat, which is 'the root and womb whence the Church of God springs,' not with the intention and the hope that 'the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth' will cast aside the integrity of the faith and tolerate their errors, but, on the contrary, that they themselves submit to its teaching and government. Would that it were Our happy lot to do that which so many of Our predecessors could not, to embrace with fatherly affection those children, whose unhappy separation from Us We now bewail. Would that God our Savior, "Who will have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth," would hear us when We humbly beg that He would deign to recall all who stray to the unity of the Church! In this most important undertaking We ask and wish that others should ask the prayers of Blessed Mary the Virgin, Mother of divine grace, victorious over all heresies and Help of Christians, that She may implore for Us the speedy coming of the much hoped-for day, when all men shall hear the voice of Her divine Son, and shall be 'careful to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.'" (Pope Pius XI, Mortalium Animos, January 6, 1928.)
Just consider two of the statements quoted above, one from Pope Pius IX's Iam Vos Omnes and the other from Pope Pius XI's Mortalium Animos:
. . . .the entire world in fact cannot enjoy true peace if it is not of one fold and one shepherd. (Pope Pius IX, Iam Vos Omnes.)
To the one true Church of Christ, we say, which is visible to all, and which is to remain, according to the will of its Author, exactly the same as He instituted it. (Pope Pius XI, Mortalium Animos.)
None of this matters to Jorge Mario Bergoglio, whose ecclesiology is based upon an unconditional acceptance of all "believers" as part of the "church," thus placing him in perfect communion with Martin Luther himself, who believed that the "church" was an amorphous mass of "believers," not a visible, hierarchical society.
Moreover, the Argentine Apostate believes that doctrinal matters are left to stuffy old theologians. Doctrine leads to "prejudicial" attitudes that choke off the possibilities of a "spiritual communion" founded in pure sentimentality and emotioanlism.
Well, consider the antidote to this apostasy as found in Pope Leo XIII's Satis Cognitum, June 29, 1896:
Agreement and union of minds is the necessary foundation of this perfect concord amongst men, from which concurrence of wills and similarity of action are the natural results. Wherefore, in His divine wisdom, He ordained in His Church Unity of Faith; a virtue which is the first of those bonds which unite man to God, and whence we receive the name of the faithful - "one Lord, one faith, one baptism" (Eph. iv., 5). That is, as there is one Lord and one baptism, so should all Christians, without exception, have but one faith. And so the Apostle St. Paul not merely begs, but entreats and implores Christians to be all of the same mind, and to avoid difference of opinions: "I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no schisms amongst you, and that you be perfect in the same mind and in the same judgment" (I Cor. i., 10). Such passages certainly need no interpreter; they speak clearly enough for themselves. Besides, all who profess Christianity allow that there can be but one faith. It is of the greatest importance and indeed of absolute necessity, as to which many are deceived, that the nature and character of this unity should be recognized. And, as We have already stated, this is not to be ascertained by conjecture, but by the certain knowledge of what was done; that is by seeking for and ascertaining what kind of unity in faith has been commanded by Jesus Christ. (Pope Leo XIII, Satis Cognitum, June 29, 1896.)

Bergoglio, much like his immediate predecessor, Joseph Alois Ratzinger/Benedict XVI, believes that the decrees of Holy Mother Church’s twenty general councils and the writings of the Church Fathers and Doctors, especially those of Saint Thomas Aquinas other scholastics, have “obscured” the purity of the Gospel. Luther, in this warped view, “restored” the Gospel, which had been “distorted” by doctrines that inhibit the “evolution” of its application to the “changed” circumstances in which people find themselves at various epochs in human history.
Consider what Ratzinger wrote in Principles of Catholic Theology:
This awareness of change, which is thus the real force behind the question, is in part just a reflection of particular experiences, but it is also in part a product of philosophical movements that have appropriated these experiences and made them the whole structure of reality. The old problem of being and time, which the Eleatic School, and later Plato and Aristotle, solved almost exclusively in favor of being, raises its head anew. The decisive turning point lies with Hegel, since which being and time have been more and more intertwined in philosophical thinking. It cannot be assigned, therefore, to any particular point in history or be viewed as something existing in itself outside of history: all its historical objectifications are but improvements in the whole of which they are parts. This view gives rise to two opposing positions. On the one hand, the philosophy of history of ideas seeks to bring about a universal reconciliation: all that has hitherto been thought has meaning as a moment of the whole; it can be understood and classified as a moment in the self-evolution of the logos. In such a view, both the Catholic and the Protestant interpretations of Christianity have meaning, each in its own way, they are true in their historical moment, but they can remain true only by being abandoned when their hour has come and assimilated into the newly developing whole. Truth becomes a function of time, the true is not that which simply is true, for truth is not simply that which is, it is true for a time because it is part of the becoming of truth, which is by becoming. This means that, of their very nature, the contours between true and untrue are less sharply defined, it means above all that man's basic attitude toward reality and toward himself must be altered. In such a view, fidelity to yesterday's truth consists precisely in abandoning it, in assimilating it into today's truth; assimilation becomes the form of preservation. What was constitutive yesterday is constitutive today only as that which has been assimilated. In the realm of Marxist thought, on the other hand, this ideology of reconciliation (as it might be called) is converted into an ideology of revolution, assimilation becomes transformation. The concept of the continuity of being in the changeableness of time is now understood as an ideological superstructure conditioned by the interests of those who are favored by things as they are. It is thus a response that runs counter to the logic of history, which demands progress and forbids lingering in the status quo. The notion of truth comes to be regarded as an expression of the vested interests of a particular historical movement; it gives place to the notion of progress: the "true" is whatever serves progress, that is, whatever serves the logic of history. Vested interest on the one hand and progress on the other lay claims to the legacy of truth; the "true," that is, what is in accord with the logic of history, must be sought at every step of history because anything that is designated as an enduring truth is in direct contradiction with the logic of history, is but the static vested interest of a given moment.
Although these two viewpoints seldom manifest themselves in the schematic purity with which they are here described, the basic orientation with regard to the relationship of being and time that is at the root of them is nonetheless firmly entrenched. The ultimate decision about the question we have raised lies, not in the material dispute about individual Christian teachings, but here, in the realm of their philosophical presumptions. Discussions about content remain isolated and losing skirmishes if no consideration is given to the question: If there, in the course of historical time, a recognizable identity of man with himself? Is there a human "nature"? Is there a truth that remains true in every historical time because it is true? The questions of hermeneutics is, in the last analysis, the ontological one, the question of the oneness of truth in the multiplicity of its historical manifestations. (Joseph Ratzinger, Principles of Catholic Theology, pp. 16-18.)
Although he expresses himself in a more visceral manner, Jorge Mario Bergoglio’s statement about a commitment to the “Gospel” is simply a shorthand way of saying the same thing as Ratzinger in a way that is more accesible and thus easy to understand for the relatively few Catholics who pay attention to such screeds as the one he delivered six days ago now. Both men believe that the truths of a “generic” Christianity have become “lost” because of "stuffy" doctrines formulated by “rigid” men who were imprisoned by the historical circumstnces in which they lived, making them insensitive to the “real-life” situations of hardened sinners who wanted to have their itching ears tickled by fables.
This is why the conciliar “popes” are far more dangerous than the likes of Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton and her band of serial lawbreakers. The conciliar “popes” put the eternal fate of souls in jeopardy, and to praise Martin Luther is to praise the man whose very revolution against Our Lord Himself made possible the rise of the Judeo-Masonic monster civil state of Modernity that attacks both souls and bodies as most Catholics alive today continue to be diverted by their bread and circuses.
There is no putting Humpty Dumpty back together again. This is an age of sin and wickedness. Men and their nations must be punished for their wicked abandonment of Christ the King and His true Church as they speak indecently, dress immodestly, act barbarically, and walk around with marks of the demons themselves tattooed all over their bodies.
Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton and Donald John Trump are simply different expressions of this wickedness, but Jorge Mario Bergoglio and his band of conciliar revolutionaries will pay a steeper price for all eternity in hell if they do not convert before they die because they have not only failed to prophetically denounce the wickedness of this age but have celebrated it openly, going so far as to praise the devil’s principal advocate of Modernity, Martin Luther himself.
We must not be smug in the face of the evil that surrounds us as it is only by the graces won for us by Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ by the shedding of every single drop of His Most Precious Blood on the wood of the Holy Cross that flow into our souls through the loving hands of His Most Blessed Mother, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces, that we can persevere in a state of Sanctifying Grace in in the face of the evils of this wicked day. It is easy to surrender, and the traps of Antichrist and his minions are ever-present in our lives.
We need Our Lady’s help in order to be persevere to our final breath, and we need to imitate the lives of the saints to practice heroic mortification, especially in these times of hedonistic excess. Such heroic mortification was practiced by the saint whose feast we celebrate today, Saint Peter of Alcantara, a true son of the Spanish soil land and of Saint Francis of Assisi who, though a Franciscan, was a close collaborator with Saint Teresa of Avila and her efforts to reform the Carmelites:
Peter was born at Alcantara, (a small town in the Province of Estramadura,) in Spain, in the year of our Lord 1499. His father, (Alphonso Garavito, was a lawyer and Governor of the town,) and his mother (was) of good extraction. The holiness of his life was foreshadowed from his earliest years. In the sixteenth year of his age he entered the Order of Friars Minor, wherein he showed himself a pattern to all. He undertook the work of preaching in obedience to his Superiors, and thereby brought many to turn away from sin to true repentance. He conceived a great desire to bring back the observance of the Rule of St Francis to the uttermost straitness of old times, and to that end, supported by God's help, and armed with the approval of the Apostolic See, he founded (in the year 1555) a new stern and poor house near Pedraso, from which the harder way of life, therein happily begun, spread marvellously through divers Provinces of Spain even to the Indies. He was an helper to holy Theresa, with whom he was like-minded, in bringing about the Reformation of the Carmelites. She was taught of God that no one should ask anything in the name of Peter without being heard, and was used to ask him to pray for her, and to call him a Saint while as he was yet alive.
He humbly excused himself from accepting the courtesies of princes, by whom his advice was sought as that of an oracle, and declined to become the Confessor of the Emperor Charles V. He was a very careful keeper to poverty, and contented himself with a single tunic than which none was worse. Purity he carried to such a point that when he was lying sick of his last illness, he would not allow the brother who ministered to him to touch him, how lightly soever. He brought his body into bondage by unceasing watching, fasting, scourging, cold, nakedness, and all manner of hardships, having made it a promise never to allow it any rest in this world. The love of God and his neighbour, which was shed abroad in his heart, somewhiles burnt so that he was fain to run from his cell into the open air to cool himself.
He was marvellous how his thoughts became altogether rapt in God, so that somewhiles it befell that he neither ate nor drank for the space of several days. He was oftentimes seen to rise into the air, shining with an unearthly glory. He passed dry-shod over torrents. When his brethren were in the last state of need, he fed them with food from heaven. A staff which he fixed in the earth grew presently into a green fig-tree. Once while he was travelling by night in the midst of an heavy snow-storm, and took refuge in a ruined and roofless house, then the falling snow made a roof over him lest he should be overwhelmed. Holy Theresa beareth witness that he had the gift of prophecy and of the discerning of spirits. At length, in the 63rd year of his own age, (and of salvation 1562,) at the hour which he had himself foretold, (upon the 18th day of October,) he passed away to be for ever with the Lord, cheered in his last moments by a wonderful vision and by the presence of Saints. At the instant of his death, blessed Theresa, then afar off, saw him carried to heaven. He appeared to her afterwards, and said O what happy penance, to have won for me such glory! After his death he became famous for very many miracles, and Clement IX. inscribed his name among those of the Saints. (Matins, The Divine Office, Feast of Saint Peter of Alcantara.)
Dom Prosper Gueranger’s prayer in honor of Saint Peter of Alcantara should inspire us all to reject the worldliness and the vain amusements of these wicked times as we seek to make reparation for our own many sins—and for those of all others, especially including the conciliar revolutionaries, each of whom is responsible for making it more and more possible for the monsters of Modernity to subject us to various kinds of persecutions both subtle and overt—as the consecrated slaves of Our Lord through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary:
‘Such then is the austere life, an eternity of glory!’ And how sweet were thy last words: ‘I rejoiced at the things that were said to me: We shall go into the house of the Lord.’ The time of reward had not yet come for the body, with which thou hadst made an agreement to give it no true in this life, but to reserve its enjoyment for the next. But already the soul, on quitting it, had filled it with the light and the fragrance of the other world; signifying to all that, the first part of the contract having been faithfully adhered to, the second should be carried out in like manner. Whereas, given over for its false delights to horrible torments, the flesh of the sinner will for ever cry vengeance against the soul that caused its loss; thy members, entering into the beatitude of thy happy soul, and completing its glory by their own splendour will eternally declare how thy apparent harshness for a time was in reality wisdom and love.
Is it necessary, indeed, to wait for the resurrection, in order to discover that the part thou didst choose is incontestably the best? Who would dare to compare not only unlawful pleasures, but even the permitted enjoyments of earth, with the holy delights of contemplation prepared, even in this world, for those can relish them? If they are to be purchased by the mortification of the flesh, it is because the flesh and the spirit are striving for the mastery; but a generous soul loves the struggle, for the flesh is honoured by it, and through it escapes a thousand dangers.
O thou who, according to our Lord’s promise, are never invoked in vain, if thou deign thyself to present our prayers to Him; obtain for us that relish for heavenly things, which causes an aversion for those of earth. It is the petition made by the whole Church, through thy merits, to the God who bestowed on thee the gift of such wonderful penance and sublime contemplation. The great family of Friars Minor cherishes the treasure of thy teaching and example; for the honour of thy holy Father Francis and the good of the Church, maintain in it the love of its austere traditions. Withdraw not thy precious protection from the Carmel of Teresa of Jesus; nay, extend it to the whole religious state, especially in these days of trial. Mayst thou at length lead back thy native Spain to the glorious heights, whence formerly she seemed to pour down floods of sanctity upon the world; it is the condition of nations ennobled by a more sublime vocation, that they cannot decline without danger of falling below the level of those less favoured by the Most High. (Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B., The Liturgical Year, Time After Pentecost, Book V, pp. 427-428.)
We must take in these words a warning as to our voluntarily immersion in the useless things of this earth, including competitive sports (yes, I watched baseball for far too long before I walked out over fourteen years ag now), and an inspiration to aspire to the great heights of heavenly joy that cannot be experienced without austere penances and without a true and devout reliance upon Our Lady, especially by means of her Most Holy Rosary as we pledge our own heart’s oblation to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus through her own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart.
