As a “General Rule,” Jorge Mario Bergoglio, is Antichrist’s Best Friend

Timed to be televised on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2024, Jorge Mario Bergoglio’s interview with the pro-abortion Norah O’Donnell of the Columbia Broadcasting System’s 60 Minutes was an exercise in ideological indoctrination by a man who said during the interview that all ideology is bad.

Norah O’Donnell’s interview, which appeared to have been edited to juxtapose her narrative with specific questions, was mean to cast “Pope Francis” as the nondoctrinaire defender of “tradition” who “feels” with his “heart” rather relying upon the “rigid” formulas found in a firm adherence to the immutable doctrines of the Holy Faith, and parts of the interview contained such outright misrepresentations by O’Donnell as to make one wonder whether she is any relation to the delusional Michael Cohen.

O’Donnell began with a description of the “warmth, intelligence, and conviction” displayed by the two-faced Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who oozes “warmth” when he wants to but is known to be angry, profane, and condemning when meeting with those he considers “enemies” within the conciliar curia and hierarchy:

Francis is the first pope from the Americas, the first of his name, and more than any other pope in recent memory, has dedicated his life and ministry to the poor, the peripheral, and the forgotten. All while leading the Catholic Church on difficult, sometimes controversial issues that not everyone supports. We were granted a rare interview at the Vatican, and spoke to him, in his native Spanish, through a translator, for more than an hour. Not lost in translation was the 87 year old's warmth, intelligence and conviction. We began by discussing the Church's first World Children's Day. Next weekend, Pope Francis will welcome tens of thousands of young people to the Vatican, including refugees of war. (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

Interjection Number One:

Norah O’Donnell is very ill-informed as the Catholic Church does not have “issues” with which her baptized members can agree or disagree. She is the repository and the infallible guardian and expositor of all that is contained within the Sacred Deposit of Faith, to which all Catholics are duty bound to accept humbly and in a spirit of docility. This adherence is non-negotiable, and it is entirely irrelevant whether there are Catholics who have been catechized by the world to believe that Holy Mother Church is little different from, say, the Congress of the United States of America and can thus make or change “rules” at will.

Moreover, as noted previously, Jorge Mario Bergoglio is warm and friendly when he wants to be. Otherwise, the man is a fake, phony, fraud who is vengeful, deceitful, and a serial dissembler.

All right, let’s proceed to Norah O’Donnell’s first “penetrating” question concerning the upcoming “World Children’s Day” sponsored by the counterfeit church of conciliarism:

Norah O'Donnell: During World Children's Day, the U.N. says over a million people will be facing famine in Gaza, many of them children.

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): Not just in Gaza. Think of Ukraine. Many kids from Ukraine come here. You know something? That those children don't know how to smile? I'll say something to them (mimics smile)… they have forgotten how to smile. And that is very painful. (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

Interjection Number Two:

Jorge the Naturalist.

Who is teaching these children to love God, to pray Our Lady’s Most Holy Rosary?

Who is telling these children stories of how saints their own age bore suffering for the love of Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Christ?

Not Jorge Mario Bergoglio, that’s sure.

What can a child really be happy about when he has never been taught simple catechetical truths, starting with the fact that one who has been taught about the Holy Faith and to pray from his tenderest days will always know that he is loved infinitely no matter what loss he may suffer on the face of this earth?

No, I am not discounting the importance of natural joy in a child’s life. Of course not.

What I am pointing out is that Jorge Mario Bergoglio never speaks about a child’s ability to learn the Catholic Faith and to know the joy that comes therefrom. He could have instructed Nora O’Donnell about the ways in which children can profit from suffering. However, one cannot give what one does not have, and Jorge Mario Bergoglio neither thinks nor speaks as a Catholic, and he is ever so careful not to offend questioners in the mainslime media as he is always currying with the most “progressive” of men rather than with the true God of Divine Revelation, the Most Holy Trinity.

Finally, someone who really wore the Shoes of the Fisherman would have told Norah O’Donnell that it is incongruous to cite the United Nations as a moral authority on anything as it has been responsible for wholesale slaughter of innocent preborn children by chemical and surgical means and has been in the vanguard of sterilizing children by various means, including by the “vaccines” it has been promoting in the Third World.

Norah O’Donnell’s next question had to do with the wars in Ukraine and the Holy Land:

Norah O'Donnell: Do you have a message for Vladimir Putin when it comes to Ukraine?

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): Please, warring countries, all of them, stop. Stop the war. You must find a way of negotiating for peace. Strive for peace. A negotiated peace is always better than an endless war. (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

Interjection Number Three:

This is rather of drunken motorist Rodney King asking “Why can’t we all get along” after the violent rioting that took place following the acquittal of former City of Los Angeles police officers involved in the use of excessive force against him.

Although the both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky should have sought to negotiate a honorable settlement to Russia’s war of Pan-Slavic imperialism against Ukraine shortly after Russian invasion twenty-five months ago, Zelensky likes his celebrity status and the billions upon billions of dollars flowing into the coffers of the Ukrainian oligarchs who are profiting from this war and Putin is too committed to total victory to consider anything other than a settlement on his terms.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio is incapable of reminding anyone, including Norah O’Donnell that there can never be peace among nations when men are at war with Christ the King by means of their unrepented Mortal Sins. To say this, however, one would have to believe that this is so, and Jorge Mario Bergoglio does not believe that Original Sin is the root cause of all conflict in the world and that Actual Sins committed by men predispose to engage in such conflict without regard for moral truth or even simple justice on the natural level.

We return now to the transcript:

Norah O'Donnell: What's happening-- in Israel and Gaza, has caused so much division, so much pain around the world. I don't know if you've seen in the United States, big protests on college campuses and growing antisemitism. What would you say about how to change that?

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): All ideology is bad, and antisemitism is an ideology, and it is bad. Any "anti" is always bad. You can criticize one government or another, the government of Israel, the Palestinian government. You can criticize all you want, but not "anti" a people. Neither anti-Palestinian nor antisemitic. No.

Norah O'Donnell: I know you call for peace. You have called for a cease-fire in many of your sermons. Can you help negotiate peace?

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): (sighs) What I can do is pray. I pray a lot for peace. And also, to suggest, "Please, stop. Negotiate."

Interjection Number Four:

Yes, Catholics are opposed to anything and everything that defames the honor and glory of God.

We are anti-heresy.

We are anti-blasphemy.

We are anti-all false religions, including Judaism and Mohammedanism, Protestantism and the strange sects that is falsehoods have spawned in the past five centuries.

We are anti-contraception.

We are anti-abortion.

We are anti-anything that causes the direct intentional killing of an innocent human being (“brain death,” human organ vivisection, the starvation and dehydration of innocent human beings, “palliative care”/hospice.

We are anti-Modernist.

We are anti-globalist.

We are anti-nationalist.

We are anti-racialism of any kind.

We are anti-impurity, anti-indecency, anti-immodesty, and we are anti-sodomy.

Bergoglio was correct to state that ideology is bad, it must be remembered that he believes a firm adherence to Catholic dogmatic truth is “ideological,” and it should also be remembered that Jorge Mario Bergoglio is firmly committed to the inter-related ideologies of globalism and the junk science that seeks to control the world’s population and the activities of those the elites deign to permit to exist in the name of reversing “man-mind-climate change.”

Finally, the endless conflicts in the Holy Land will never end until one and all exclaim, “Benedictus qui venit in Nomine Domini, Hosanna in Excelsis.”

It is my distasteful task to return to the transcript of the Bergoglio interview with Norah O’Donnell:

Prayer has been at the center of the pope's life since he was born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Argentina, in 1936, into a family of Italian immigrants. Before entering the seminary, Bergoglio worked as a chemist.

His own personal formula is simplicity. He still wears the plain silver cross he wore as the archbishop of Buenos Aires. Though it's not what Francis wears, but where he lives that set the tone for his papacy, 11 years ago.

Instead of a palace above St. Peter's Square, he chose the Vatican guest house Casa Santa Marta as his home.

We met him there under a painting of the Virgin Mary. Surrounded by the sacred, Francis has not forsaken his sense of humor, even when discussing serious subjects, like the migrant crisis.

Norah O'Donnell: My grandparents were Catholic. Immigrated from Northern Ireland in the 1930s to the United States, seeking a better life. And I know your family, too, fled fascism. And you have talked about with migrants, many of them children, that you encourage governments to build bridges, not walls.

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): Migration is something that makes a country grow. They say that you Irish migrated and brought the whiskey, and that the Italians migrated and brought the mafia… (laugh) It's a joke. Don't take it badly. But, migrants sometimes suffer a lot. They suffer a lot.

Norah O'Donnell: I grew up in Texas, and I don't know if you've heard, but the state of Texas is attempting to shut down a Catholic charity on the border with Mexico that offers undocumented migrants humanitarian assistance. What do you think of that?

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): That is madness. Sheer madness. To close the border and leave them there, that is madness. The migrant has to be received. Thereafter you see how you are going to deal with him. Maybe you have to send him back, I don't know, but each case ought to be considered humanely. Right?

A few months after becoming pope, Francis went to a small Italian island near Africa, to meet migrants fleeing poverty and war.

Norah O'Donnell: Your first trip as Pope was the Island of Lampedusa, where you talked about suffering. And I was so struck when you talked about the globalization of indifference. What is happening?

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): Do you want me to state it plainly? People wash their hands! There are so many Pontius Pilates on the loose out there… who see what is happening, the wars, the injustice, the crimes… "That's OK, that's OK" and wash their hands. It's indifference. That is what happens when the heart hardens… and becomes indifferent. Please, we have to get our hearts to feel again. We cannot remain indifferent in the face of such human dramas. The globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease. Very ugly. (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

Interjection Number Five:

It is not to be “indifferent” to the plight of those who enter nations illegally to protect the safety and health of those who live in the nations whose borders are being transgressed. Protecting national sovereignty and the security of citizens is not the “globalization of indifference.”

Norah O’Donnell presented a picture of a “humble” man who seeks to humiliate his ecclesiastical enemies, protects his clerical friends who are known predators of various sorts, and seethes with anger at the criticism he receives from “conservatives” and “traditionalists” while never wasting any opportunity to lambaste “rigid” “Pelagians” as much as possible.

This “humble” antipope even likes his tasteless jokes that he keeps repeating them as the “Irish brought the whiskey” and the “Italians brought the Mafia” line is one that he has used on several occasions in the past.

Insofar as State of Texas Attorney General Kenneth Paxton’s efforts to shut down Annunciation House, suffice it to say that Norah O’Donnell was engaged in the same sort of deceptive descriptions that a certain group of prosecutors has been using for the past three weeks in a certain courthouse before a certain judge who keeps ruling in their favor while admonishing a defense witness who raised his eyebrows at him.

That is, Annunciation House is in the business of shielding those who have crossed into the State of Texas illegally and it is entirely disingenuous to state that the “nonprofit charity” is providing humanitarian assistance only as its leaders are fully supportive of the open borders and have received financial support from George Soros and Mark Zuckerberg to fund their legal battles against the State of Texas:

In February, Paxton announced that his office had reviewed “significant” public record information “strongly suggesting” that Annunciation House is illegally engaged in “alien harboring, human smuggling, and operating a stash house.”

Paxton’s office had demanded access to the Annunciation House’s records to evaluate potential violations. But the charity refused and instead sued the Office of the Attorney General. (Paxton seeks to enjoin Soros-funded charity from continuing ‘illegal alien harboring’.)

The “madness” denounced by Jorge Mario Bergoglio is simply an effort on the part of the Texas State Attorney General to protect the citizens of Texas from the invasion of their state caused by the illegal open borders policies of Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., and his contemptuous Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas that has encouraged human trafficking and resulted in a veritable crime wave around the nation, including the murders of Laken Riley, Maddie Hines, Ruby Garcia and a number of others, to say nothing of the shoplifting that many immigrants are members of various gangs have committing and attacks upon police officers, including the attack that the infamous Alvin Bragg recently plea bargained down to lesser charges:

Six of the migrants charged in connection to the vicious attack on two NYPD officers in Times Square were offered plea deals Tuesday as a Manhattan judge revealed that one of the accused cop-beaters was arrested again while out on bail.

Yohenry Brito, 24 — who was remanded after his initial arrest — was nabbed last week for petit larceny after an activist Brooklyn priest posted his $15,000 cash bail in February, Judge Laura Ward said in Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday.

“I am furious that Mr. Brito was rearrested and charged with petty larceny while he was out on this case,” Ward fumed as she warned that another slipup would land him behind bars.

“I am very tempted right now to put you in jail. I am telling you right now, if I learn you are rearrested for anything at all between now and this case being finished, I will order a warrant and I will place bail so high, you will not get out,” she continued.

“If you jaywalk, if you jump a turnstile, if you do anything at all and I have to issue a warrant, you will not see the light of day until this case is over,” Ward declared.

She asked if Brito understood, to which he replied “Yes” after the comments were translated for him by an interpreter.

Brito allegedly tried to steal children’s clothing and “fragrances” from Macy’s Herald Square flagship store on Friday night, according to a criminal complaint.

He was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of stolen property — both misdemeanors.

A Manhattan judge set him free at his Saturday arraignment — despite the DA’s office requesting $10,000 cash bail.

News of Brito’s rearrest came as he, Ulises Bohorquez, 21, and Andres Gomez-Izquiel,19, were offered plea deals by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

Under the proposed deal, the trio would serve a year in jail in exchange for pleading guilty to second-degree assault.

Two other migrants charged in the cop attack, Kelvin Servita Arocha, 19, and Wilson Juarez, 21, have been offered a separate deal to serve six months in prison for pleading guilty to obstructing a government administration.

Prosecutors also offered Yorman Reveron, 24, a bargain that would send him to prison for two years for pleading guilty to second-degree assault, according to the DA’s office.

The defendants’ attorneys have not yet accepted the plea deals.

Ward ordered they return to court on June 18, when a trial date will be set if no agreement is reached.

An offer has not yet been made to 20-year-old Edgarlis Vegas.

The seven migrants were indicted following the shocking caught-on-camera beatdown of the two officers when they tried to break up a rowdy crowd at the Crossroads of the World on Jan. 27.

Video showed the mob kicking the cops in the head and body before running away.

Juarez and Servita-Arocha are alleged members of the notorious Venezuelan street gang Tren de Aragua, and are the subjects of ICE detainers. (Migrants charged in attack on NYPD cops in Times Square offered plea deals.)

No, none of this matters to Jorge Mario Bergoglio nor to Norah O’Donnell.

There is no moral equivalence between those who migrated to the United States of America legally in the past and those are doing so illegally at present to advance the goals of Bergoglio’s globalist allies. (For a fuller discussion of illegal immigration, please see Bordering on the Borderless and Bordering on the Borderless, part two).

The next part of Jorge Mario Bergoglio’s 60 Minutes interview took place in another dimension beyond time and space. It took place in Rod Serling’s twilight zone:

Pope Francis has not been indifferent to the Church's most insidious scandal– the rampant sexual abuse of hundreds of thousands of children worldwide, for decades.

Norah O'Donnell: You have done more than anyone to try and reform the Catholic Church and repent for years of unspeakable sexual abuse against children by members of the clergy. But has the church done enough?

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): It must continue to do more. Unfortunately, the tragedy of the abuses is enormous. And against this, an upright conscience and not only to not permit it but to put in place the conditions so that it does not happen.

Norah O'Donnell: You have said zero tolerance.

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): It cannot be tolerated. When there is a case of a religious man or woman who abuses, the full force of the law falls upon them. In this there has been a great deal of progress. (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

Interjection Number Six:

Bergoglio earned ten Pinocchio’s for this answer as it is completely detached from the truth. Here is a report from the sedeplentist Catholic World Report:

The largest single gathering of the Catholic Church’s hierarchical leadership to combat clerical sexual abuse and coverup closed five years ago–five years to the day, if you are reading this on Saturday, February 24, 2024–with Pope Francis calling for “an all-out battle” against “abominable crimes that must be erased from the face of the earth.”

What have we seen in the way of leadership from Pope Francis in the intervening quinquennium?

Five years of failure

Pope Francis has refused to defrock a confessed child molester or even remove him from the College of Cardinals.

Pope Francis has protected a favorite Argentinian prelate he himself raised to the episcopate and threatened those who sought justice from the Church.

Pope Francis has presided over the appalling miscarriage of justice that has allowed a powerful celebrity artist-cleric not only to escape punishment for the abuse of as many as forty-one victims over three decades but even to remain in ministry as an extern priest resident in Rome.

Pope Francis has done more.

He has issued paper reforms–including one major piece of procedural legislation–and refused to use them except very sparinglyselectively and never transparently.

Before the year that preceded and precipitated the gathering in February 2019 was out, Pope Francis demonized men and women who demand vindication of their right to know the true character and conduct of their rulers in the faith.

More recently, Pope Francis has praised others–those who would be known as guardians and sentinels of the truth–for their perceived reticence in the face of appalling misdeeds.

He has paid lip service to impartial justice while he promoted an unready and thoroughly compromised favorite to high office, discouraging that hapless fellow from taking the interest in the administration of justice that his very office demands.

Were Pope Francis’s every other act of governance redolent with Solomonic wisdom, these alone–one may adduce many others– would be sufficient to measure his conduct of the Church’s government and find it sorely wanting.

The meeting itself had little in the way of a real agenda. Ahead of the meeting, Pope Francis talked a great game from one side of his mouth. From the other, he was at pains to tamp down hopes for it. The chief organizers of the meeting were about the work of managing expectations for months before the thing even opened.

Almost immediately, opportunities presented themselves for Pope Francis and other senior churchmen to prove their earnest, but there were no real takers. By 2021, it was apparent that the watchword was no more than a collection of buzzwords.

Responsibility under Pope Francis had definite form by the bottom half of 2023, when the world stood witness as the Pope’s own Commission for the Protection of Minors lambasted the Vatican for “tragically harmful deficiencies in the norms intended to punish abusers and hold accountable those whose duty is to address wrongdoing.”

That statement came the very same day France’s La Croix reported that the disgraced former Archbishop of Bordeaux, Cardinal Jean-Pierre Ricard, would be keeping his red hat and voting rights, and–as far as the Vatican was concerned–could keep his faculties to minister within the confines of the diocese where he resides, even though he admitted to molesting a fourteen-year-old girl.

Accountability under Pope Francis finds its most eloquent expression in his remark to the Associated Press regarding the impossibly sordid matter of Fr. Marko Rupnik: “I had nothing to do with this.”

“Nothing” was all Pope Francis had to do in order to see that his depraved olim confrère escape justice.

Francis’s late decision to change course and waive the statute of limitations behind which Rupnik had found refuge only made matters worse. The volte-face followed the explosion of worldwide outrage at news that Rupnik would be incardinated in a diocese of his native Slovenia after his expulsion from the Jesuits for disobedience.

Transparency under Francis was a Catholic bishop–Michael J. Hoeppner, insufferably emeritus of Crookston, Mn.–accused of interfering in a canonical or civil investigation into clerical sexual abuse, getting early retirement with honor and going to live with relatives in the Sun Belt.

Pope Francis allowed Hoeppner to preach at his own farewell liturgy, billed as a “Mass of Thanksgiving” for his time in office. “It’s been a real joy and a treat,” Hoeppner told the congregation in Crookston’s Immaculate Conception cathedral.

Mene, mene, tekel, upharsin

Just this past week, stories from Texas in the United States to the Australian outback either broke or saw major development. A simmering crisis spanning Europe and Asia also began to boil.

It has long since become inescapably evident that the rot in the Church’s clerical and hierarchical leadership culture is systemic. The clerical culture we have right now–without respect to ideological leanings or theological inclination–is utterly in thrall to the intrinsically perverse libido dominandi.

“The Church’s house will be clean,” this journalist wrote in the autumn of 2018–annus horribilis in which the carelessness of the hierarchy was already on garish display–the only questions then being whether Francis or Caesar would be holding the broom and whether the cleansing would come before or after the fire sale.

Those questions have not yet received a definitive answer, though the experience of the past five years has provided unequivocable indications. (Pope Francis’s “all-out battle” against clerical abuse has been a failure.)

While the author of the above commentary thinks that Jorge Mario Bergoglio really is “Pope Francis,” the facts speak for themselves.

Also speaking for itself is Norah O’Donnell’s total lack of investitive curiosity as neither she nor her producers did any real homework to interrogate the Argentine Apostate about his actual record of protecting clerical abusers as summarized in the commentary above.

To the next part of the 60 Minutes transcript:

It's Francis' capacity for forgiveness and openness that has defined his leadership of the Church's nearly 1.4 billion Catholics. He put them and the world on notice, during an impromptu press conference on a plane in 2013, when he spoke on the subject of homosexuality.

"If someone is gay," he said, "and he searches for the Lord and has good will…who am I to judge?"

… and he did not stop there.

Norah O'Donnell: Last year you decided to allow Catholic priests to bless same-sex couples. That's a big change. Why?

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): No, what I allowed was not to bless the union. That cannot be done because that is not the sacrament. I cannot. The Lord made it that way. But to bless each person, yes. The blessing is for everyone. For everyone. To bless a homosexual-type union, however, goes against the given right, against the law of the Church. But to bless each person, why not? The blessing is for all. Some people were scandalized by this. But why? Everyone! Everyone!

Norah O'Donnell: You have said, "Who am I to judge?" "Homosexuality is not a crime."

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): No. It is a human fact. (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

Interjection Number Seven:

Jorge Mario Bergoglio continues to insist to “bless” those in a sodomite relationship is simply to bless “persons” and not the union in a feat of sophistry and positivism of the highest order.

If the “union” is not “blessed,” then why do the “persons” present themselves together for the “blessing,” which is a de facto recognition that those in mortally sinful relationships can be “blessed” for choosing voluntarily to do that which cries out to Heaven for vengeance? (See Jorge Demands That His Clergy Suborn Sins That Cry Out to Heaven for VengeanceJorge Demands that His Clergy Suborn Sins That Cry Out to Heaven for Vengeance, part two.)

Insofar as the contention that homosexuality is not a crime, perhaps the words that God the Holy Ghost inspired Saint Paul the Apostle and Saint Jude to write might be of some use:

For this cause God delivered them up to shameful affections. For their women have changed the natural use into that use which is against nature. And, in like manner, the men also, leaving the natural use of the women, have burned in their lusts one towards another, men with men working that which is filthy, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was due to their error. And as they liked not to have God in their knowledge, God delivered them up to a reprobate sense, to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all iniquity, malice, fornication, avarice, wickedness, full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, malignity, whisperers, Detractors, hateful to God, contumelious, proud, haughty, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, foolish, dissolute, without affection, without fidelity, without mercy. Who, having known the justice of God, did not understand that they who do such things, are worthy of death; and not only they that do them, but they also that consent to them that do them. (Romans 1: 18-32.)

[1] Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James: to them that are beloved in God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called.[2] Mercy unto you, and peace, and charity be fulfilled. [3] Dearly beloved, taking all care to write unto you concerning your common salvation, I was under a necessity to write unto you: to beseech you to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints. [4] For certain men are secretly entered in, (who were written of long ago unto this judgment,) ungodly men, turning the grace of our Lord God into riotousness, and denying the only sovereign Ruler, and our Lord Jesus Christ. [5] I will therefore admonish you, though ye once knew all things, that Jesus, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, did afterwards destroy them that believed not:

[6] And the angels who kept not their principality, but forsook their own habitation, he hath reserved under darkness in everlasting chains, unto the judgment of the great day. [7] As Sodom and Gomorrha, and the neighbouring cities, in like manner, having given themselves to fornication, and going after other flesh, were made an example, suffering the punishment of eternal fire. [8] In like manner these men also defile the flesh, and despise dominion, and blaspheme majesty[9] When Michael the archangel, disputing with the devil, contended about the body of Moses, he durst not bring against him the judgment of railing speech, but said: The Lord command thee[10] But these men blaspheme whatever things they know not: and what things soever they naturally know, like dumb beasts, in these they are corrupted.

[11] Woe unto them, for they have gone in the way of Cain: and after the error of Balaam they have for reward poured out themselves, and have perished in the contradiction of Core. [12] These are spots in their banquets, feasting together without fear, feeding themselves, clouds without water, which are carried about by winds, trees of the autumn, unfruitful, twice dead, plucked up by the roots, [13] Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own confusion; wandering stars, to whom the storm of darkness is reserved for ever. [14] Now of these Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying: Behold, the Lord cometh with thousands of his saints, [15] To execute judgment upon all, and to reprove all the ungodly for all the works of their ungodliness, whereby they have done ungodly, and of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against God.

[16] These are murmurers, full of complaints, walking according to their own desires, and their mouth speaketh proud things, admiring persons for gain' s sake. [17] But you, my dearly beloved, be mindful of the words which have been spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, [18] Who told you, that in the last time there should come mockers, walking according to their own desires in ungodlinesses. [19]These are they, who separate themselves, sensual men, having not the Spirit. [20] But you, my beloved, building yourselves upon your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

[21] Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, unto life everlasting. [22] And some indeed reprove, being judged[23] But others save, pulling them out of the fire. And on others have mercy, in fear, hating also the spotted garment which is carnal[24] Now to him who is able to preserve you without sin, and to present you spotless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, in the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, [25] To the only God our Saviour through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory and magnificence, empire and power, before all ages, and now, and for all ages of ages. Amen. (Jude 1-25.)

As noted recently in Jorge Starts to "Clarify" (Undermine) Dignitatis Infinita, the conciliar synod that will take place in less than five months will result in an “apostolic exhortation” wherein an antipapal benediction will be given to the sodomite agenda in the name of “accompanying persons” in “irregular situations” where “elements” of “true love” are said to exist even though love is ant of the will, which is to be used to choose the good and to avoid the evil. The rub is, of course, that neither Jorge Mario Bergoglio nor Victor Manuel Fernandez believe that sodomy is inherently evil.

It is now time to turn to question Norah O’Donnell asked about “conservative bishops” in the United States of America that has generated a great deal of discussion and will be explored in depth in my next commentary:

Norah O'Donnell: There are conservative bishops in the United States that oppose your new efforts to revisit teachings and traditions. How do you address their criticism?

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): You used an adjective, "conservative." That is, conservative is one who clings to something and does not want to see beyond that. It is a suicidal attitude. Because one thing is to take tradition into account, to consider situations from the past, but quite another is to be closed up inside a dogmatic box. (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

“Archbishop” Carlo Maria Vigano has claimed that Bergoglio answered correctly, claiming that a “conservative” within the conciliar structures must be distinguished from “traditionalists” within those same structures.

However, I believe that the Argentine Apostate meant to make no such distinction. He meant to condemn as “suicidal” any Catholic who takes seriously the immutable nature of God and of His Sacred Deposit of Faith as summarized by Pope Saint Pius X, quoting from the [First] Vatican Council, in Pascendi Domnici Gregis, September 8, 1907:

far as they are symbols, they are the images of truth, and so must be adapted to the religious sense in its relation to man; and as instruments, they are the vehicles of truth, and must therefore in their turn be adapted to man in his relation to the religious sense. But the object of the religious sense, as something contained in the absolute, possesses an infinite variety of aspects, of which now one, now another, may present itself. In like manner he who believes can avail himself of varying conditions. Consequently, the formulas which we call dogma must be subject to these vicissitudes, and are, therefore, liable to change. Thus the way is open to the intrinsic evolution of dogma. Here we have an immense structure of sophisms which ruin and wreck all religion.

It is thus, Venerable Brethren, that for the Modernists, whether as authors or propagandists, there is to be nothing stable, nothing immutable in the Church. Nor, indeed, are they without forerunners in their doctrines, for it was of these that Our predecessor Pius IX wrote: 'These enemies of divine revelation extol human progress to the skies, and with rash and sacrilegious daring would have it introduced into the Catholic religion as if this religion were not the work of God but of man, or some kind of philosophical discovery susceptible of perfection by human efforts.' On the subject of revelation and dogma in particular, the doctrine of the Modernists offers nothing new. We find it condemned in the Syllabus of Pius IX, where it is enunciated in these terms: ''Divine revelation is imperfect, and therefore subject to continual and indefinite progress, corresponding with the progress of human reason'; and condemned still more solemnly in the Vatican Council: ''The doctrine of the faith which God has revealed has not been proposed to human intelligences to be perfected by them as if it were a philosophical system, but as a divine deposit entrusted to the Spouse of Christ to be faithfully guarded and infallibly interpreted. Hence also that sense of the sacred dogmas is to be perpetually retained which our Holy Mother the Church has once declared, nor is this sense ever to be abandoned on plea or pretext of a more profound comprehension of the truth.' Nor is the development of our knowledge, even concerning the faith, barred by this pronouncement; on the contrary, it is supported and maintained. For the same Council continues: 'Let intelligence and science and wisdom, therefore, increase and progress abundantly and vigorously in individuals, and in the mass, in the believer and in the whole Church, throughout the ages and the centuries -- but only in its own kind, that is, according to the same dogma, the same sense, the same acceptation.' (Pope Saint Pius X, Pascendi Dominci Gregis, September 8, 1907.)

Jorge Mario Bergoglio is forever attempting to posit a false dichotomy between doctrinal fidelity and charity. This effort is unspeakably insidious as true charity starts with love of God, and one cannot truly love God unless one adheres to everything that He has taught to us. To disparage the importance of doctrinal formation in order to seek to replace it with a nebulous kind of social work that is performed to "prove" how "good" and "kind" Christians can be is nothing other than to place a complete seal of approval upon the false principles of The Sillon that were condemned by Pope Saint Pius X in Notre Charge Apostolique, August 15, 1910. It is also to make a mockery of the very words of Our Divine Redeemer, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and of the entire patrimony of the Catholic Church:

[11] The Jews therefore sought him on the festival day, and said: Where is he? [12] And there was much murmuring among the multitude concerning him. For some said: He is a good man. And others said: No, but he seduceth the people. [13] Yet no man spoke openly of him, for fear of the Jews. [14] Now about the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. [15] And the Jews wondered, saying: How doth this man know letters, having never learned?

[16] Jesus answered them, and said: My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. [17] If any man do the will of him; he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. [18] He that speaketh of himself, seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh the glory of him that sent him, he is true, and there is no injustice in him. [19] Did Moses not give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? [20] Why seek you to kill me? The multitude answered, and said: Thou hast a devil; who seeketh to kill thee?  (John 7: 11-20.)

There is nothing more to add here as my next commentary will deal with Bergoglio’s “suicidal” comment and the reaction to it.

It is a very late or early hour, depending upon the time zone one is in. However, commentaries do not get written on their own, and thus I return to the transcript of Jorge’s starring role on 60 Minutes:

Pope Francis has placed more women in positions of power than any of his predecessors, but he told us he opposes allowing women to be ordained as priests or deacons.

Francis' devotion to traditional doctrine led one Vatican reporter to note that he's changed the tune of the Church, but the lyrics essentially remain the same. This frustrates those who want to see him change policy on Roman Catholic priests marrying; contraception, and surrogate motherhood.

Norah O'Donnell: I know women who are cancer survivors who cannot bear children, and they turn to surrogacy. This is against church doctrine.

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): In regard to surrogate motherhood, in the strictest sense of the term, no, it is not authorized. Sometimes surrogacy has become a business, and that is very bad. It is very bad.

Norah O'Donnell: But sometimes for some women it is the only hope.

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): It could be. The other hope is adoption. I would say that in each case the situation should be carefully and clearly considered, consulting medically and then morally as well. I think there is a general rule in these cases, but you have to go into each case in particular to assess the situation, as long as the moral principle is not skirted. But you are right. I want to tell you that I really liked your expression when you told me, "In some cases it is the only chance." It shows that you feel these things very deeply. Thank you. (smiles) (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

Interjection Number Eight:

Surrogate motherhood could be the only “hope” for mothers?

Never!

This is what I wrote in Victor Manuel Fernandez's Anthropocentric Decree on Human Dignity, part six:

This is pure naturalism. There is not a word about the fact that what is called surrogate parenthood is a violation of the Sovereignty of God over the sanctity and fecundity of Holy Matrimony. While it is certainly true that no one has a “right to a child,” this is so not because of “human dignity” but because but because men are supposed to obey God. Who has ordained that a child be generated only in context of a valid marriage between one man and one woman and not by any other means. Surrogate parenthood is an offensive the Author of Life and involves, in most instances, the killing of embryonic human beings and/or the collection of a man’s biological matter that is gathered only by immoral means.

The whole concept of surrogacy is sinful and is based upon sinful actions to produce a child.

Where does Dignitatis Infinita speak on sin this regard?

It does not as the text of totally anthropocentric.

The condemnation of surrogate motherhood does not depend upon assessing “each situation, as long as the moral principle is not skirted.” Bergoglio’s answer is nothing other than situation ethics designed to please his listened, whom he flattered for the way she “felt.”

There is no general “rule,” and there is no “but” to that general rule.

There is only the law of God. Period.

Then again, there is a general rule that Jorge Mario Bergoglio is Antichrist’s best friend.

To the next to last part of Norah O’Donnell’s interview with Jorge Mario Bergoglio:

Norah O'Donnell: I think that's why so many people-- have found hope with you, because you have been more open and accepting perhaps than other previous leaders of the church.

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): You have to be open to everything. The Church is like that: Everyone, everyone, everyone. "That so-and-so is a sinner…?" Me too, I am a sinner. Everyone! The Gospel is for everyone. If the Church places a customs officer at the door, that is no longer the church of Christ. Everyone. (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

Interjection Number Nine:

One flatterer flatters the other.

Holy Mother Church always welcomes the repentant sinner, but she cannot condone Mortal Sin by admitting to her Sacraments those are openly in defiance of God’s Holy Laws and are causing public scandal by doing so. The Gospel is for everyone, but the Gospel commands us to obey God, something that Saint John the Evangelist wrote in his first epistle:

[1] My little children, these things I write to you, that you may not sin. But if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the just: [2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. [3] And by this we know that we have known him, if we keep his commandments. [4] He who saith that he knoweth him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. [5] But he that keepeth his word, in him in very deed the charity of God is perfected; and by this we know that we are in him. (1 John 2: 1-5.)

[21] Dearly beloved, if our heart do not reprehend us, we have confidence towards God: [22]And whatsoever we shall ask, we shall receive of him: because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight. [23] And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ: and love one another, as he hath given commandment unto us. [24] And he that keepeth his commandments, abideth in him, and he in him. And in this we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. (1 John 3: 21-24.)

[1] Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God. And every one that loveth him who begot, loveth him also who is born of him. [2] In this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God, and keep his commandments. [3] For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not heavy[4] For whatsoever is born of God, overcometh the world: and this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith. [5] Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5: 1-5.)

Perhaps even more to the point is the teaching of the Divine Master Himself, Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ:

[19] He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. [20] For I tell you, that unless your justice abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5: 19-20.)

Bergoglio’s hatred of those who keep the Ten Commandments is just one of many things he has in common with an Augustinian monk named Father Martin Luther who he, the Argentine Apostate, believes is a “witness” to Our Lord:

“[The commandments] only purpose is to show man his impotence to do good and to teach him to despair of himself” (ref: Denifle’s Luther et Lutheranisme, Etude Faite d’apres les sources. Translation by J. Paquier (Paris, A. Picard, 1912-13), Volume III, p. 364).

We must remove the Decalogue out of sight and heart” (ref. De Wette 4, 188)

“If we allow them – the Commandments – any influence in our conscience, they become the cloak of all evil, heresies and blasphemies” (ref. Comm. ad Galat, p.310).

“It is more important to guard against good works than against sin.” (ref. Trischreden, Wittenberg Edition, Vol. VI., p. 160).  (As found at: The Thirty-Three Most Ridiculous Things Martin Luther Ever Wrote.)

This is pretty much an exact representation of what Jorge Mario Bergoglio has said repeatedly, including most recently in his interview with his fellow Jesuit revolutionaries while he was in Portugal for World Hootenanny Day.

As the words of Holy Writ quoted above prove beyond any question, the false beliefs of Bergoglio and the man he admires as a “witness” of a generic Christian “faith” are mortal enemies of Our Lord and of His true Church, thus making them mortal enemies of the souls for whom Our Divine Redeemed shed every single drop of His Most Precious Blood during His Passion and Death on the wood of the Holy Cross on Good Friday to redeem.

Pope Pius XI, writing to condemn German national socialism, which arose, of course, as the direct consequence of Martin Luther’s overthrowing of the Social Reign of Christ the King in various of the German states five hundred years ago this very year, explained that we are bound to the “conscientious observation of the Ten Commandments”:

29. It is on faith in God, preserved pure and stainless, that man's morality is based. All efforts to remove from under morality and the moral order the granite foundation of faith and to substitute for it the shifting sands of human regulations, sooner or later lead these individuals or societies to moral degradation. The fool who has said in his heart "there is no God" goes straight to moral corruption (Psalms xiii. 1), and the number of these fools who today are out to sever morality from religion, is legion. They either do not see or refuse to see that the banishment of confessional Christianity, i.e., the clear and precise notion of Christianity, from teaching and education, from the organization of social and political life, spells spiritual spoliation and degradation. No coercive power of the State, no purely human ideal, however noble and lofty it be, will ever be able to make shift of the supreme and decisive impulses generated by faith in God and Christ. If the man, who is called to the hard sacrifice of his own ego to the common good, loses the support of the eternal and the divine, that comforting and consoling faith in a God who rewards all good and punishes all evil, then the result of the majority will be, not the acceptance, but the refusal of their duty. The conscientious observation of the ten commandments of God and the precepts of the Church (which are nothing but practical specifications of rules of the Gospels) is for every one an unrivaled school of personal discipline, moral education and formation of character, a school that is exacting, but not to excess. A merciful God, who as Legislator, says -- Thou must! -- also gives by His grace the power to will and to do. To let forces of moral formation of such efficacy lie fallow, or to exclude them positively from public education, would spell religious under-feeding of a nation. To hand over the moral law to man's subjective opinion, which changes with the times, instead of anchoring it in the holy will of the eternal God and His commandments, is to open wide every door to the forces of destruction. The resulting dereliction of the eternal principles of an objective morality, which educates conscience and ennobles every department and organization of life, is a sin against the destiny of a nation, a sin whose bitter fruit will poison future generations

30. Such is the rush of present-day life that it severs from the divine foundation of Revelation, not only morality, but also the theoretical and practical rights. We are especially referring to what is called the natural law, written by the Creator's hand on the tablet of the heart (Rom. ii. 14) and which reason, not blinded by sin or passion, can easily read. It is in the light of the commands of this natural law, that all positive law, whoever be the lawgiver, can be gauged in its moral content, and hence, in the authority it wields over conscience. Human laws in flagrant contradiction with the natural law are vitiated with a taint which no force, no power can mend. In the light of this principle one must judge the axiom, that "right is common utility," a proposition which may be given a correct significance, it means that what is morally indefensible, can never contribute to the good of the people. But ancient paganism acknowledged that the axiom, to be entirely true, must be reversed and be made to say: "Nothing can be useful, if it is not at the same time morally good" (Cicero, De Off. ii. 30). Emancipated from this oral rule, the principle would in international law carry a perpetual state of war between nations; for it ignores in national life, by confusion of right and utility, the basic fact that man as a person possesses rights he holds from God, and which any collectivity must protect against denial, suppression or neglect. To overlook this truth is to forget that the real common good ultimately takes its measure from man's nature, which balances personal rights and social obligations, and from the purpose of society, established for the benefit of human nature. Society, was intended by the Creator for the full development of individual possibilities, and for the social benefits, which by a give and take process, every one can claim for his own sake and that of others. Higher and more general values, which collectivity alone can provide, also derive from the Creator for the good of man, and for the full development, natural and supernatural, and the realization of his perfection. To neglect this order is to shake the pillars on which society rests, and to compromise social tranquillity, security and existence. (Pope Pius XI, Mit Brennender Sorge, March 17, 1937.)

It is important to highlight the following sentences from the the first paragraph quoted above:

(Pope Pius XI, Mit Brennender Sorge, March 17, 1937.)

Bergoglio believes that the Ten Commandments are a "burden" to men by preventing them from going "forward," and he does not believe that God makes it possible for men to do what He has taught them, thus blaspheming God as a deceiver.

Pope Pius XI reminded us that there is a God who actually rewards the good and punishes all evil, and that the "conscientious observatoin of the ten commandments and the precepts of the Church (which are nothing but the practical specifications of rules of the Gospels) is for every one an unrivaled school of personal discipline, moral education and formation of character, a school that is exacting, but not to excess. A merciful God, who as Legisltor, says --Thou must! -- also give by His grace the power to will do so so."

The Argentine Apostate does not believe that it is possible to keep the Ten Commandments perfectly nor does he believe that it is necessary to do so. All that matters to him is "going forward," which he is doing very rapidly by throwing himself headlong into hell at the moment of his Particular Judgment if he does not repent of his errors and abjure them publicly before he dies.

We have no “customs officers” at church doors. However, the Divine Judge, Christ the King, pronounces sentences of eternal damnation of souls after death if they have not chosen for Him during life by availing themselves of His ineffable mercy in the Sacred Tribunal Penance.

Our Lord gives us until our dying breath to repent and convert, but only a few mystics and those condemned to death for their civil crimes have been given to know for certain when they are going to die. It is, as Saint Alphonus de Ligouri wrote so many times, the fact that death befalls the habitual sinner when he least expects it, when all is going well for him in this passing, mortal vale of tears, all, that is, except his being in a state of Sanctifying Grace.

To the finale:

Norah O'Donnell: When you look at the world what gives you hope?

Pope Francis (In Spanish/English translation): Everything. You see tragedies, but you also see so many beautiful things. You see heroic mothers, heroic men, men who have hopes and dreams, women who look to the future. That gives me a lot of hope. People want to live. People forge ahead. And people are fundamentally good. We are all fundamentally good. Yes, there are some rogues and sinners, but the heart itself is good.  (Pope Francis tells 60 Minutes in rare interview: "the globalization of indifference is a very ugly disease" .)

Final Interjection:

Pelagius and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, call your office.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio uttered not one word about the necessity of being holy, of loving God and being tenderly devoted to His Most Blessed Mother, especially through her Most Holy Rosary.

Bergoglio was telling Norah O’Donnell, in essence, that we are self-redemptive and that the human being, though good insofar as he is a creature of God who has been redeemed by the shedding of every single drop of His Co-Equal, Co-Eternal Divine Son’s Most Precious Blood on the wood of the Holy Cross, is wounded by the vestigial after-effects of Original Sin (darkened intellect, weakened will, overthrow of the delicate balance between his higher rational faculties and his lower sensual passions—concupiscence) and by the effects of his own Actual Sins.

Human beings are fallen but redeemed, but it is up to each person overcome his fallen human nature by cooperating with the graces won for us all by Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ during His Passion and Death on the wood of the Holy Cross on Good Friday and that flow into our hearts and souls by the working of God the Holy Ghost through the loving hands of Our Lady, she who is the Mediatrix of All Graces.

One can see Rousseau’s influence upon the warped mind of the Argentine Apostate by reviewing Father Denis Fahey’s description of Rousseau’s view of human goodness:

To the triumph of those ideals in the modern world, the Masonic denial of original sin and the Rousseauist dogma of the natural goodness of man have contributed not a little. The dogma of natural goodness signifies that man lived originally in a purely natural paradise of happiness and goodness and that, even in our present degraded state, all our instinctive movements are good. We do not need grace, for nature can do for what grace does. In addition, Rousseau holds that this state of happiness and goodness, of perfect justice and innocence, of exemption from servile work and suffering, is natural to man, that is, essentially demanded by our nature. Not only then is original sin nonexistent, not only do we not come into the world as fallen sons of the first Adam, bearing in us the wounds of our fallen nature, is radically anti-natural. Suffering and pain have been introduced by society, civilization and private property. Hence we must get rid of all these and set up a new form of society. We can bet back the state of the Garden of Eden by the efforts of our own nature, without the help of grace. For Rousseau, the introduction of the present form of society, and of private property constitute the real Fall. The setting up of a republic based on his principles will act as a sort of democratic grace which will restore in its entirety ur lost heritage. In a world where the clear teaching of the faith of Christ about the supernatural order of the Life of Grace has become obscured, but were men are still vaguely conscious that human nature was once happy, Rousseau’s appeal acts like an urge of homesickness. We need not be astonished, then, apart from the question of Masonic-Revolutionary organization and propaganda, at the sort of delirious enthusiasm which takes possession of men at the thought of a renewal of society. Nor need we wonder that men work for the overthrow of existing government and existing order, in the belief that they are not legitimate forms of society. A State not constructed according to Rosseauist-Masonic principles is not a State ruled by laws. It is a monstrous tyranny, and must be overthrown in the name of "Progress" and of the "onward march of democracy.’ All these influences must be borne in mind as we behold, since 1789, the triumph in one country after another or Rousseauist-Masonic democracy. (Father Denis Fahey, The Mystical Body of Christ in the Modern World.)

Behold Jorge Mario Bergoglio, a living example of the fact that Modernism is the synthesis of all heresies. It is a general rule, of course, that Jorge Mario Bergoglio is Antichrist’s best friend.

Although Dom Prosper Gueranger’s reflection on Ember Wednesday in Whitsun Week is appended below, I want to remind the readers of this website that the Catholic Church is inerrant and a true pope is a guarantor of Catholic orthodoxy from whom none can dissent legitimately. The following excerpt from Dom Prosper Gueranger’s reflection on Ember Wednesday in Whitsun Week serves as a reminder that God Himself will let us know who the next true pope will be:

Tomorrow, we will speak of what the Holy Ghost does for the maintaining Faith, one and unvarying, in the whole body of the Church; let us, to-day, limit our considerations to this single point, namely, that the Holy Spirit is the source of external union by voluntary submission to one centre of unity. Jesus had said: Thou art Peter, and upon this Rock I will build my Church (St. Matth. xvi. 18): now, Peter was to die; the promise, therefore, could not refer to his person only, but to the whole line of his successors, even to the end of the world. How stupendous is not the action of the Holy Ghost, who thus produces a dynasty of spiritual Princes, which has reached its two hundred and fiftieth Pontiff, and is to continue to the last day! No violence is offered to man's free will; the Holy Spirit permits him to attempt what opposition he lists; but the work of God must go forward.

A Decius may succeed in causing a four years' vacancy in the See of Rome; anti-popes may arise, supported by popular favour, or upheld by the policy of Emperors; a long schism may render it difficult to know the real Pontiff amidst the several who claim it: the Holy Spirit will allow the trial to have its course, and, whilst it lasts, will keep up the faith of his Children; the day will come when he will declare the lawful Pastor of the Flock, and the whole Church will enthusiastically acknowledge him as such. (Dom Prosper Gueranger, O.S.B., The Liturgical Year, Wednesday in Whitsun Week.)

We beseech Our Lady, she who is the Mystical Spouse of God the Holy Ghost, to help restore a true pope on the Throne of Saint Peter as we remain faithful unto her, the Queen of Apostles upon whom and the Apostles her Mystical Spouse descended in tongues of flame on Pentecost Sunday in the same Cenacle where her Divine Son had instituted the Holy Priesthood and the Holy Eucharist fifty-three days previously. Every Rosary we pray, especially during this month of May, the month of Our Lady, will help to plant a few seeds for the restoration that it is come.

What are we waiting for?

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.

Saint Joseph, pray for us.

Saints Peter and Paul, pray for us.

Saint John the Baptist, pray for us.

Saint Michael the Archangel, pray for us.

Saint Gabriel the Archangel, pray for us.

Saint Raphael the Archangel, pray for us.

Saints Joachim and Anne, pray for us.

Saints Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar, pray for us.

Saint Rita of Cascia, pray for us.

Appendix

Dom Prosper Gueranger’s Reflection on Wednesday in Whitsun Week

We have seen with what fidelity the Holy Ghost has fulfilled, during all these past ages, the Mission he received from our Emmanuel, of forming, protecting and maintaining His Spouse the Church. This trust given by a God has been executed with all the power of a God, and it is the sublimest and most wonderful spectacle the world has witnessed during the eighteen hundred years of the new Covenant. This continuance of a social body,--the same in all times and places,--promulgating a precise Symbol of Faith which each of its Members is bound to accept,--producing by its decisions the strictest unity of religious belief throughout the countless individuals who compose the society,--this, together with the wonderful propagation of Christianity, is the master-fact of History. These two facts are not, as certain modern writers would have it, results of the ordinary laws of Providence; but Miracles of the highest order, worked directly by the Holy Ghost, and intended to serve as the basis of our faith in the truth of the Christian Religion. The Holy Ghost was not, in the exercise of His Mission, to assume a visible form; but he has made His Presence visible to the understanding of man, and thereby He has sufficiently proved His own personal action in the work of man's salvation.

Let us now follow this divine action,--not in its carrying out the merciful designs of the Son of God, who deigned to take to Himself a Spouse here below,--but in the relations of this Spouse with mankind. Our Emmanuel willed that she should be the Mother of men; and that all, whom he calls to the honour of becoming His own Members, should acknowledge that it is she who gives them this glorious birth. The Holy Ghost, therefore, was to secure to this Spouse of Jesus what would make her evident and known to the world, leaving it, however, in the power of each individual to disown and reject her.

It was necessary that this Church should last for all ages, and that she should traverse the earth in such wise that her name and mission might be known to all nations; in a word, she was to be Catholic, that is, Universal, taking in all times and all places. Accordingly, the Holy Ghost made her Catholic. He began by showing her, on the Day of Pentecost, to the Jews who had flocked to Jerusalem from the various nations; and when these returned to their respective countries, they took the good tidings with them. He then sent the Apostles and Disciples into the whole world, and we learn from the writers of those early times, that a century had scarcely elapsed before there were Christians in every portion of the known earth. Since then, the Visibility of this holy Church has gone on increasing gradually more and more. If the Divine Spirit, in the designs of His justice, has permitted her to lose her influence, in a nation that had made itself unworthy of the grace, He transferred her to another where she would be obeyed. If, at times, there have been whole countries where she had no footing, it was either because she had previously offered herself to them and they had rejected her, or because the time marked by Providence for her reigning there had not yet come. The history of the Church's propagation is one long proof of her ever living, and of her frequent migrating. Times and places, all are hers; if there be one when or where she is not acknowledged as supreme, she is at least represented by her Members ; and this prerogative, which has given her the name of Catholic, is one of the grandest of the workings of the Holy Ghost.

But His action does not stop here; the Mission given Him by the Emmanuel in reference to His Spouse obliges Him to something beyond this; and here we enter into the whole mystery of the Holy Ghost in the Church. We have seen His outward influence, whereby He gives her perpetuity and increase; now we must attentively consider the inward direction she receives from Him, which gives her Unity, Infallibility, and Holiness,--prerogatives which, together with Catholicity, designate the true Spouse of Christ.

The union of the Holy Ghost with the Humanity of Jesus is one of the fundamental truths of the mystery of the Incarnation. Our divine Mediator is called "Christ" because of the anointing which he received (Ps. xliv. 8); and His anointing is the result of His Humanity's being united with the Holy Ghost (Acts, x. 38). This union is indissoluble: eternally will the Word be united to His Humanity; eternally, also, will the Holy Spirit give to this Humanity the anointing which makes "Christ." Hence it follows, that the Church, being the body of Christ, shares in the union existing between its Divine Head and the Holy Ghost. The Christian, too, receives, in Baptism, an anointing by the Holy Ghost, who, from that time forward, dwells in him as the pledge, of his eternal inheritance (Eph. i. 13): but, whilst the Christian may, by sin, forfeit this union which is the principle of his supernatural life, the Church herself never can lose it. The Holy Ghost is united to the Church for ever; it is by Him that she exists, acts, and triumphs over all those difficulties to which, by the divine permission, she is exposed whilst Militant on earth.

St. Augustine thus admirably expresses this doctrine in one of his Sermons for the Feast of Pentecost: "The spirit, by which every man lives, is called the Soul. Now, observe what it is that our Soul does in the body. It is the Soul that gives life to all the members; it sees by the eye, it hears by the ear, it smells by the nose, it speaks by the tongue, it works by the hands, it walks by the feet. It is present to each member, giving life to them all, and to each one its office. It is not the eye that hears, nor the ear and tongue that see, nor the ear and eye that speak; and yet they all live; their functions are varied, their life is one and the same. So is it in the Church of God. In some Saints, she works miracles; in other Saints, she teaches the truth; in others, she practises virginity; in others, she maintains conjugal chastity: she does one thing in one class, and another in another; each individual has his distinct work to do, but there is one and the same life in them all. Now, what the Soul is to the body of man, that the Holy Ghost is to the Body of Christ, which is the Church: the Holy Ghost does in the whole Church, what the soul does in all the members of one body (Serm. cclxvii. In die Pentecostes)."

Here we have given to us a clear exposition, by means of which we can fully understand the life and workings of the Church. The Church is the Body of Christ, and the Holy Ghost is the principle which gives her life. He is her soul,--not only in that limited sense in which we have already spoken of the Soul of the Church, that is, of her inward existence, and which, after all, is the result of the Holy Spirit's action within her,--but He is also her Soul, in that her whole interior and exterior life, and all her workings, proceed from Him. The Church is undying, because the love, which has led the Holy Ghost to dwell within her, will last for ever: and here we have the reason of that Perpetuity of the Church, which is the most wonderful spectacle witnessed by the world.

Let us now pass on, and consider that other marvel, which consists in the preservation of Unity in the Church. It is said of her in the Canticle: One is my dove; my perfect one is One (Cant. vi. 8). Jesus would have but One, and not many to be His Church, His Spouse: the Holy Ghost will, therefore, see to the accomplishment of His wish. Let us respectfully follow Him in His workings here also. And firstly; is it possible, viewing the thing humanly, that a society should exist for eighteen hundred years, and never change? nay, could it have continued all that time, even allowing it to have changed as often as you will? And during these long ages, this society has necessarily had to encounter, and from its own members, the tempests of human passions, which are ever showing themselves, and which not unfrequently play havoc with the grandest institutions. It has always been composed of nations, differing from each other in language, character, and customs; either so far apart as not to know each other, or, when neighbours, estranged one from the other by national jealousies and antipathies. And yet, notwithstanding all this, -- notwithstanding, too, the political revolutions, which have made up the history of the world,--the Catholic Church has maintained her changeless Unity: one Faith,--one visible head,-- one worship, (at least, in the essentials,)--one mode for the deciding every question, namely, by tradition and authority. Sects have risen up in every age, each sect giving itself out as "the true Church:" they lasted for a while, short or long, according to circumstances, and then were forgotten. Where are now the Arians with their strong political party? Where are the Nestorians, and Eutychians, and Monothelites, with their interminable cavillings? Could anything be imagined more powerless and effete than the Greek Schism, slave either to Sultan or Czar? What is there left of Jansenism, that wore itself away in striving to keep in the Church in spite of the Church? As to Protestantism,--the produce of the principle of negation,--was it not broken up into sections from its very beginning, so as never to be able to form one society? and is it not now reduced to such straits, that it can with difficulty retain dogmas which, at first, it looked upon as fundamental,--such as, the inspiration of the Scriptures, or the Divinity of Christ?

Whilst all else is change and ruin, our mother the holy Catholic Church, the One Spouse of the Emmanuel, stands forth grand and beautiful in her Unity. But how are we to account for it? Is it, that Catholics are of one nature, and Sectarians of another? Orthodox or heterodox, are we not all members of the same human race, subject to the same passions and errors? Whence do the children of the Catholic Church derive that stability, which is not affected by time, nor influenced by the variety of national character, nor shaken by those revolutions that have changed dynasties and countries? Only one reasonable explanation can be given:-- there is a divine element in all this. The Holy Ghost, who is the soul of the Church, acts upon all the members; and as he himself is One, he produces Unity in the Body He animates. He cannot contradict Himself: nothing, therefore, subsists by him, which is not in union with him.

In order to understand the whole marvel of this supernatural influence, it is not enough to know the extrinsic results as told us by history; we must study it in its own divine reality. The Unity of the Church is not like that which a conqueror forces upon a people that has become tributary to him. The Members of the Church are united in oneness of faith and submission, because they love the yoke she imposes on their freedom and their reason. But who is it, that thus brings human pride to obey? Who is it, that makes joy and contentment be felt in a life-long practice of subordination? Who is it, that brings man to put his security and happiness in the having no individual views of his own, and in the conforming his judgment to one supreme teaching,--and this, too, in matters where the world chafes at control? It is the Holy Ghost, who works this manifold and permanent miracle, for He it is who gives soul and harmony to the vast aggregate of the Church, and sweetly infuses into all these millions a union of heart and mind which forms for our Lord Jesus Christ his "One" dearest Spouse.

During the days of his mortal life, Jesus prayed His Eternal Father to bless us with Unity: May they be one, as we also are (St. Joh, xvii. 2). He prepares us for it, when He calls us to become His Members; but, for the achieving this union, He sends His Spirit into the world,--that Spirit, who is the eternal link between the Father and the Son, and who deigns to accept a temporal Mission among men, in order to create on the earth a Union formed after the type of the Union which is in God Himself.

We give thee thanks, O Blessed Spirit! who, by thy dwelling thus within the Church of Christ, inspirest us to love and practise Unity, and suffer every evil rather than break it. Strengthen it within us, and never permit us to deviate from it by even the slightest want of submission. Thou art the soul of the Church; oh! give us to be Members ever docile to thy inspirations, for we could not belong to Jesus who sent Thee, unless we belong to the Church, his Spouse and our Mother, whom He redeemed with His Blood, and gave to thee to form and guide.
