Of Men Who Keep Not Eternity in Mind

This is a commentary about the latest dog and pony show in Washington, District of Columbia.

A commentary on the fiftieth anniversary of the decisions of the Supreme Court of the United States of America in the cases of Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, January 22, 1973,  will follow no later than Tuesday, January 24, 2023, the Feast of Saint Timothy.

Prayers for the Chair of Unity Octave (Friars Press, Lafayette, Louisiana)

As promised, I am hereby making a copy of the prayers for the Chair of Unity Octave that were distributed by Father Francis Miller, O.F.M., several days ago. Father Francis was kind enough to send me the prayers in a Word document, which permits me to post them so that those who access this website.

Also, I received word via a third party that one of the finest Catholic gentlemen I have ever known, Mr. Howard J. Walsh, died at the age of eighty-three of complications from Stage IV colon cancer yesterday morning, Thursday, January 19, 2023, the Feast of Saints Marius, Martha, Abucham, and Audifax, and the Commemorations of Saint Canute, King of Denmark, and of Saint Wulstan.

I knew Mr. Walsh for nearly thirty years and was always impressed with his genuine spirit of Catholic charity for one and all, using the proceeds from the sale of a screw manufacturing company (which he ran according to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, including the living wage and the standards of natural justice and supernatural charity), to promote a love for Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, His Most Blessed Mother, especially under the title of Our Lady, Help of Christians, and by means of he Most Holy Rosay, Saint Joseph, and the Holy Catholic Faith.

Mr. Walsh’s Keep the Faith organization made lectures given by Catholic priests and scholars available to Catholics and non-Catholics alike, and he was tireless in promoting devotion to the Immemorial Mass of Tradition, which he purchased Latin Mass magazine and renamed it: The Latin Mass; A Journal of Catholic Culture in 2000. (Mr. Walsh asked me to be the editor of the magazine shortly after he purchased it, but I told him that I am and will forever remain a horrific administrator, and he was thankful for my candor.)

More recently, Keep the Faith published Father Kenneth Baker’s translations of the works of Saint Robert Bellarmine and placed books in audio form on compact discs, including a seven-hour reading of a detailed book about the North American Martyrs.

Blessed with an abiding humility (an example of which was provided in my tribute to his—and my own—friend, the late John W. Blewett, who  died on February 8, 2013—see With A Heart Of Pure Catholic Gold) and a terrifically self-effacing sense of humor, which was augmented by his wonderful wife of nearly fifty-seven years, Eleanor McNamara Walsh, Howard Walsh always brought Catholic joy wherever he went, a joy that extended even when visiting with those, such as us, with whom he disagreed about the state of the Church in this time of apostasy and betrayal whenever we had the opportunity to visit with him in the past few years. He was a friend to those in need, and always had some “loose change” to give to people on the streets of Manhattan who were begging for assistance.

Please join me in praying for the repose of the soul of a giant of a Catholic gentleman, Howard J. Walsh, as well as for the consolation of his wife, his five children, nearly forty grandchildren (and their families), and the many thousands of people who profited from having known and enjoyed his friendship and company during the eighty-three years he spent as a member of the Church Militant here on the face of the earth.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

A Brief Reflection on the Feast of the Chair of Saint Peter in Rome (and the Feasts of January 19)

Work continues on my next original commentary, which is proceeding at a slower pace because, quite honestly, it is very difficult to type because of the rheumatoid arthritis in my right hand. I can only do so much typing every day.

However, I hereby offer you brief reflections on today’s Feast of the Chair of Saint Peter in Rome as well as of Saint Prisca, whose feast is commemorated today, January 18, 2023, and the feasts that will be celebrated tomorrow, January 19, 2023 (Saints Marius, Martha, Aubocham, and Audifax; Saint Canute, King of Denmark; and Saint Wulstan).

The Chair of Unity Octave begins today, Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

Father Francis Miller, O.F.M. has done Catholics the great favor of sending out the official set of prayers to be prayed during the Chair of Unity Octave, prayers that differ greatly both in their text and tenor from that which has circulated within many traditional circles for the past twenty years or so. I will provide a link to these prayers later today.

Finally, I was informed by one of my few remaining friends on my native Long Island that Father John T. Murphy, the founder of Save the Babies, Inc., who was arrested many times for merely praying the Rosary near abortuaries on Long Island, has died. I covered part of Father Murphy’s 1998 trial for criminal trespass for The Wanderer. Remarkably, an honest judge acquitted him of all charges and excoriated the special prosecutor who had been appointed to conduct the case for the State of New York.

Father Murphy was good enough to offer the Immemorial Mass of Tradition during a conference I had organized about the corruption of the conciliar “bishops” (I had yet to admit that the corruption was systemic in nature and went all the way to to the top)  that was held across the street from where then named National Conference of Catholic Bishops meeting was taking place in Washington, District of Columbia, in November of 1997, and he was good enough to offer Holy Mass for us in Rome when he was there in 2005, and on several other occasions that year before we came to embrace the fact that the See of Peter has been vacant since the death of Pope Pius XII on October 9, 1958.

We will always be grateful to Father Murphy for the courageous witness he gave in defense of the innocent preborn as well as for his charity towards us.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him, May his soul and all the souls of the faithful department, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Saints Peter and Paul, pray for us.

Saint Prisca, pray for us.

Saints Marius, Martha, Abucham, and Audifax, pray for us.

Saint Canute, King of Denmark, pray for us.

Saint Wulstan, pray for us.

Jorge Mario Bergoglio, Thy Mouth Remains An Open Sepulcher

Although I was busily working on a commentary about the pathological octogenarian at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue who just “happens” to keep classified documents next to his 1967 Corvette in a locked garage in Wilmington, Delaware, a review of a link found in my email’s trash bin informed me of Senor Jorge’s latest use of profanity, something that he has in common with the man whose support of surgical baby-killing he has indemnified in the name of his “conscience,” Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr., when addressing seminarians from Barcelona, Spain. This commentary has thus taken precedence over the one about Red China’s own man in the White House.

I am sorry the lack of articles in the past week. It is very hard to type with the rheumatoid arthritis in my right hand and a remedy that was recommended to ameliorate the penitential pain caused a very penitential allergic reaction on my face, forehead, and neck. Penance is better than ever in 2023, and I well deserve it.

Pope Saint Marcellus I, pray for us.

It Is Never Advisable to Die as the Former Head of a False Religion, part three

I hereby present to you the final part of my series on the late Joseph Alois Ratzinger/Benedict XVI.

A commentary about event in the mad, mad, mad, mad world of naturalism wll follow by the end of the work. Part twenty of "Sin: More Deadly Than the Coronavirus" will follow no later than January 20, 2022, the Feast of Fabian and Sebastian.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.

On the Feast of the Holy Family (2023)

Today is the Feast of the Holy Family of Nazareth and the Commemoration of the First Sunday after the Epiphany within the Octave of the Epiphany.

Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ chose to become Man in His Most Blessed Mother's Virginal and Immaculate Womb by the power of the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, God the Holy Ghost, and place Himself, the Co-Equal and Co-Eternal Son of God the Father, under subjection to mere creatures His Most Blessed Mother, the fairest flower of our race, and to Good Saint Joseph, his foster-father.

The subjection of the God-Man to the authority of His Most Blessed Mother and his foster-father, whom He had chosen from all eternity to provide Him with the earthly love and care and stewardship of a father seeking only to please God with his every thought, word and deed, teaches us that we, who came from families and who, in many instances, are raising families of our own, must be subject to all legitimate authority, duly constituted, in all things that do not pertain to sinful commands. Children are supposed to learn this subjection in the household from their tenderest days, seeing in their fathers the image of Saint Joseph and in their mothers the image of Our Lady.

Children are supposed to realize that God in the very Flesh obeyed His creatures in the Holy Family of Nazareth. So must they.

Parents must, for their part, foster an atmosphere within the family of selflessness, charity, forgiveness and joy, centering the family's life on daily assistance at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass (if at all possible), regular time spent in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, the daily recitation of Our Lady's Most Holy Rosary, supplications to Our Lady's Most Chaste Spouse, Saint Joseph, home enthronement to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Total Consecration to Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ through the same Immaculate Heart of Mary, Scriptural reading and family reading time, especially about the lives of the saints, and a refusal to participate in the rot of popular culture.

This requires sacrifice and the willingness to be misunderstood, calumniated and rejected even by one's own family members as we protect our children from those cultural currents that come from the devil and are designed to lead each of us to Hell for all eternity. To eschew worldliness one must be ready to embrace the Holy Poverty of the Holy Family of Nazareth, detaching oneself from the material acquisitiveness of our consumer society, shaped by Judeo-Calvinist materialism, and to live in light of First Things and Last Things as we week to acquire the only thing that matters: Sanctifying Grace in this life and eternal life in the glory of the Beatific Vision of Father, Son and Holy Ghost in Heaven.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, we love you, save souls!

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, pray for us now and in death's agony.

A blessed Feast of the Holy Family of Nazareth to you all.

On the Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord Jesus Christ (2023)

Our Blessed Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was made manifest on Christmas Day to the handful of Jewish people, including the shepherds in the field who were sent to adore Him by the angels who had announced the following:

And there were in the same country shepherds watching, and keeping the night watches over their flock. And behold an angel of the Lord stood by them, and the brightness of God shone round about them; and they feared with a great fear. And the angel said to them: Fear not; for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, that shall be to all the people: For, this day, is born to you a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, in the city of David. And this shall be a sign unto you. You shall find the infant wrapped in swaddling clothes, and laid in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army, praising God, and saying: Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men of good will. And it came to pass, after the angels departed from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another: Let us go over to Bethlehem, and let us see this word that is come to pass, which the Lord hath shewed to us. And they came with haste; and they found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. And seeing, they understood of the word that had been spoken to them concerning this child. And all that heard, wondered; and at those things that were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these words, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God, for all the things they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them. (Luke 2: 6-20.)

Today's feast, the Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord, known colloquially in Ireland as "Little Christmas" and in many other places as Three Kings' Day, celebrates Our Lord's manifestation to the whole world through the Gentiles.

Indeed, the Offertory for today's Mass explains that all kings shall adore Christ King and that all nations shall serve Him:

"The kings of Tharsis and the islands shall offer presents: the kings of the Arabians and of Saba shall bring gifts: and all kings of the earth shall adore Him: all nations shall serve Him."

The United States of America is no exception to this. We must pray for the day when the leaders of this country, founded on the falsehoods of Protestantism and Judeo-Masonry that are so hateful to Our King, will adore Him as their King and the day when this nation will serve Him as it acknowledges His Social Kingship over it by submitting in all that pertains to the good of souls to the authority of the Catholic Church that He Himself founded upon the Rock of Peter, the Pope.

We are suffering at the hands of statists today because the men of Modernity who believed that they had no obligation to offer public worship to Christ the King through His true Church set us on a course that can result only in the triumph of the civil state over the King of Kings Who was made manifest to Saints Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar on this day.

We must make Him manifest in our own lives at at all times, never fearing to suffer in behalf of the truths of the Holy Faith or to suffer in the cause of justice when souls are placed into jeopardy needlessly even by some of our own true shepherds.

It was my hope to have part three of "It is Never Advisable to Die as the Former Head of a False Religion" completed by today, most of the Vigil of the Epiphany was spent visiting an orthopedist who specializes in the hand. Although I had thought that the pain in my right hand was related to a fall I suffered three months ago, it turns out that I have rheumatoaid arthritis. Thus, pain or no pain as penance is better than ever in 2023, I should have the third and final installment of my Ratzinger series posted by tomorrow, Saturday, January 7, 2023.

A blessed Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord to you all!

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.

It Is Never Advisable to Die as the Former Leader of a False Religion, part two

As I am about to lose my internet connection, I am simply going to post the second part of this three part series. Part three will follow in two days, and I once again renew my requset for non-tax-deductible financial gifts. Thank you.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.

We Must Never Be Silent about the Holy Name of Jesus (2023)

[Update on Monday, January 2, 2023, 4:55 p.m., Central Standard Time: A thought occurred to me while I was beginning the writing of part two of It Is Never Advisable to Die as the Former Head of a False Religion, part one: Are the resignationists who never accepted the fact of Joseph Alois Ratzinger/Benedict XVI's resignation now sedevacantists after their "pope's" death?]

Today is the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus.

This brief reflection reminds readers that the heretical blasphemer named Jorge Mario Bergoglio keeps his silence about the Holy Name of Jesus when speaking before groups that might include as few as one person who rejects Our Lord’s Sacred Divinity. Such is the warped, twisted man of an apostate, a man whose long-held false beliefs expelled him from the bosom of Holy Mother Church in his youth.

The first of three or four commentaries about the late Joseph Alois Ratzinger/Benedict XVI was published about fourteen hours ago after many problems with formatting and securing an online connection. In the process, though, the introduction to the commentary, which can be found immediately below this post, featured an incomplete sentence that should read as follows:

Formatting and then internet problems have caused part one of my commentary on the many ways in which the late Joseph Alois Ratzinger/Benedict XVI defected from the Holy Faith to be delayed until a very late (or early hour).

It Is Never Advisable to Die as the Former Head of a False Religion, part one

Formatting and then internet problems have caused part one of my commentary on the many ways in which the late Joseph Alois Ratzinger/Benedict XVI to be delayed until a very late (or early hour).

Part two should follow in two days and the final part two days thereafter.

Although the final section of this commentary contains a brief reflection on today’s Feast of the Holy Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ, a stand-alone commentary will be published later today, Monday, January 2, 2023.

It is a very good idea to pray the Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus every day during this month of January, the month of the Holy Name of Jesus.

Most Holy Name of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us.
